Actually MJ and Hville lost a lot.  MJ has Grimes, the WR Bowen; and a couple of OL back.  There backups are very good but not sure they will be as good as last year.  Hville returns 3 starters on offense and 4 on D.  Good skill players but a huge challenge on the O and D lines. Will start a lot of young players on the line of scrimmage.  Beech is loaded.  Parks and Jefferson are back with a lot of others.

Agreed, have heard there are some very athletic skilled players coming in. OL and DL will be questionable. Intersting to see how the Ellis kid pans out

This game probably isn’t close. How much of a chance to the Commandos have here? This has all the makings of a blowout, HHS doesn’t have the guys to hang with the Pats. I think the only chance HHS has of keeping it close is the change of pace at RB. If they can get the run game going they could keep it close early, but I think Oakland runs away with it. 42-17

Hendersonville would need to play their best game this year. Oakland runs away in the 3rd quarter, too many athletes.

Tonight’s final in Clarksville Hville 35 Rossview 17, officials 250.  Don’t remember ever complaining on this forum about officials but I will tonight.  Umpire will need Tommy John surgery for all the penalties he called.  Crew was not great overall  umpire was awful.  Remember him from the jamboree this year when he called unsportsmanlike on the DCA coaches for asking which number was called for holding.. So few people there you could hear every word.  Needless to say a record breaking night for the officiating crew.

Might be same crew.  We easily had over 200 yds in penalties which negated at least 2 TD’s and a number of long runs.  Best one was on extra point for Rossview. They lined up and before the snap the umpire threw a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct, they snapped the ball and made the extra point. We really didn’t even rush up the middle so mistified as to what the penalty was for.  They didn’t give Rossview the option of taking the penalty on the try or on the kickoff so they had to decline it and take the point.  We had 4 holding penalties on 1 drive.

Agreed, glad we were decidedly better than rossview or this game could of been different. Also was awesome seeing the freeshman Ellis get in on defense and grab an Int. Always awesome to see young guys contribute.

This game makes for an interesting matchup.  Franklin will be throwing all night and HHS will grind out the running game.  HHS has their running game clicking on all cylinders.  Pass D has in past been a weak spot for HHS.....it does seem to be much improved this year.

I think this will be a very competitive game but in the end  HHS wins by a couple TDS.

Thats always been a point this team struggles it seems year by year(excluding tj carter). Correct, they are better than previous years however, havent heard much on franklin but i like the commandos in this one.

I will go with Lebanon, they are the more physical team while Hendersonville is more of a finesse team out of the wing T.  Commandos will be unable to block the big DL Logue consistently and I don’t think they can stop the Lebanon offense enough.  Blackman scored 28,  Centennial 26 and Beech 27 so that tells me they don’t beat the Blue Devils.

I truly wish they would move away from the wing t but hey if it aint broke dont fix it.

You have a Hendersonville offense that has scored 52, 40 and 45 the last 3 weeks against Centennial, Station Camp and Beech.

You have a Lebanon defense that has allowed 12, 8, 14 and 7 through the first 4 games against Trousdale County, McGavock, Mt. Juliet and Lavergne. They also have forced 14 turnovers, blocked a punt and a field goal in those games.

So it sets up a classic offense vs defense matchup.

My issue here is on the other side of that matchup.

Hendersonville allowed 28 to Blackman the first game of the year. That team has since scored +40 every game since and might every game the rest of the year aside from Oakland. They have some major athletes on that team.

They allowed 26 to Centennial. They allowed 14 to Station Camp. And they allowed 27 to Beech but it has to be noted that almost all of that was in garbage time as I believe it was 45-7 in the 4th quarter.

So between the Blackman game and those against Station Camp and Beech I feel like there is at least a showing of a respectable defense for Hendersonville.

    Now on to Lebanon's offense.

They have scored 16, 16, 10 and 30 in the first 4 games. They scored 16 on Trousdale County, 16 on McGavock, 10 on Mt. Juliet and 30 on Lavergne.

Against Trousdale County they had 273 yards and 169 (both touchdowns) of it came on 3 plays. So 104 yards on the other 40 plays. They got a field goal when a TC RB dropped the ball inside the 20 and Lebanon was unable to gain anything and just kicked a field goal.

Against McGavock they had 228 yards and 121 of it came on 2 plays. So 107 yards on the other 42 plays. They scored 16 points in this game and 8 of it came on a 5-yard drive after a turnover.

Against Mt. Juliet they had 60 yards. They had a field goal on a drive where they started off on the 10 after a turnover. They created 5 turnovers and a blocked punt. And only scored 10 points.

I don't have the stats for the Lebanon vs Lavergne game.... But I do know that the first 7 possessions of the game (alternating between teams) were interception, interception, punt, fumble, safety, punt and interception. Against a Lavergne team that is 0-4 and has lost by a combined score of 178-51 through 4 games.

So this is a team that has scored 72 points in 4 games. And 23 of those points have come on drives where they started off inside the 10 after a turnover.

So how many points can Lebanon realistically be expected to score in this game?

What does their defense have to hold Hendersonville to to win this game?

I think Hendersonville will be the best offensive team they have played yet this season. And they also have to be at least as good if not better on defense than McGavock and Lavergne. And 14 points isn't gonna get a win this week.

    Hendersonville 21

    Lebanon 7

Very good info in this post. If hendersonville’s Defense plays like they did last week i think Lebanon will struggle to put up more than 7.

Who wins? Huge matchup in region 4-6a this Friday. Commandos looking to avenge a disappointing loss to Lebanon last season.  This game has major implications on determining region title hopes and playoff seeds for both teams.  Winner has a clear path to 2 seed at worst.

Lebanon has some MONSTERS on defense and crazy athletic QB.  Commandos have their running game rolling strong and defense is getting better by the week. Commandos will have to mix it up and work in some passes to keep Lebanon from loading up against the run.  Will be a huge test for Commando  QB and offensive line. I believe they are up to the task.

Not ready to make prediction yet but I do think whoever wins the turnover battle will probably win the game.  Looking forward to a great game.  Go Commandos!!

I have been very impressed with the Qb play from number 2. Kids got a good arm. That being said i agree that it will come to what Hendersonville can do on offense to disrupt the Lebanon defense.

A little too early for real judgements, but I’ve been following Commando football for a long time now and I don’t remember a time when a game against Beech wasn’t competitive. Is this indicative of the Beasley era?

There’s been a lot of great Commando teams over the years that haven’t been able to put that kind of performance against a rival in and I have to think the change of guard is playing a part. What a way for James to come out and make his stamp on the program against a solid Beech team.

I remember the 2013 game was pretty lopsided in hville’s favor as well.

Commandos rushed for 453 yards vs Centennial.  Oline had an excellent night!!  Station Camp run defense looks pretty solid.  Will have to work hard to have a great rushing night Friday.

Got a couple young guys that look to be very good as well. Brent rowe stuck out to me at runningback. Feel we have too much for sc

Ok let's not make this solely about MJ and our weak schedule. Hendersonville is picking up steam and it surely is making MJ faithful nervous. They have a potent offense, and they seem to be stingy on defense at times. offensively is where MJ has to capitalize, our defense has been great but yet to be truly tested. MJ has one of the best rushers in the misstate in Aidan Raines, Our QB Cody Glass is a 70% completion passer, multiple weapons at wideout, and plenty of strong runners backing up Raines. Defensively MJ has a swarm to the ball mentality, solid coverage from the Dbs, strong, big Dline. I'm not sure what Hville has to offer from a position standpoint.  I would probably give the edge to MJ here in a closer than I'd like type of ballgame.

Hendersonville has 2 very good backs from the 1 game I saw. As stated earlier hughes is their main guy. Hughes averages 11 to 12 yards a carry. Only touching the ball 8 times in the win over rossview. Another guy that caught my eye was Derek Kincaid, a little more speed on that kid and he will be a force. I also saw more throws and actual completions from hendersonville than I thought possible earlier in the year. My concern in this football game is hendersonville's D. From my understanding they are young but make stops when needed. With that being said i give hendersonville a touchdown advantage given the home field.
