Gaddis has nothing to do with the middle school schedules.  This falls on the Admin. at JMS and RMS.  Last year, the same thing happened when OR played on a Thursday, but last year  JMS moved their game to Sat.  Not sure why they couldn't get it done this year.  It is unfortunate.

Pretty sure there is a HS soccer game Thursday night.

, those around me sure grew restless as the Wildcats went down 28-6 and the coaching staff continued to use the full play clock every down to call the next play from the sidelines. Could they have possibly have wasted any more time?

We must have been sitting close to each other then. Like going in at the half with 3 to's left despite having about 27 seconds and the ball. I've thought all season the defense has progressed ALL season, but the offense has just kinda "done enough" without having a solid base. Coach Gaddis said about the same thing post-game last night. I know I'm not the only one who questions the play calling - often times.

It was a fantastic season, and I think without a doubt we could beat that Catholic team. Just not to be last night.

The kicker had a "hip flexor" thing going on I heard from another parent.

And for what it's worth I've had 2 tuition students since Linden and neither plays any ball. We chose Oak Ridge schools for the OTHER reasons!

Have you noticed they have two number twos on the Clemson team?

Yeah at the Kent State game I looked at my daughter and said "Tee is playing special teams??!!" the season ticket holder sitting behind us was nice enough to explain Clemson has offense and defense numbers. Who knew? When he found out we knew Tee he became the second person that day to call him a "super star"! They really like him down there.

.........Proud of how Oak Ridge is getting better every week.Defense has really came a long way. Hate a lot of the play calls on offense ........Great win

    Agree

The play calling thing goes back a few seasons, and I sure won't try to play coach, but - nevermind

    Agree

  4.  This is what I do know...it's never good to finish 9th or 10th in a track meet (how about that SS? I actually DO know a little about track!) ...it must be the fault of the football staff that JG ran poorly in his first meet.

I'm not tryin to get in on whatever you and the others have going on.

But, finishing 9th or 10th with an 11.1 at a meet with I think 55 runners is NOT running poorly. Around 44 schools and 1400 athletes, it's a good meet to go to.

Like I said the winner there (10.87) ran an 11.39 Saturday. I think JG will run in the 10's this season. I also think AE has some of the fastest runners I've seen. Their 4x100 is something to watch.

  5. Or we just aren't as fast as I thought we were. When your fastest guy finishes 9th and 10th in his best races that's not good and I don't care what they've been working on.

My expectations aren't as high as yours after these track results. Go to milesplit and look up the HVA meet. It's awful. Look at the individual results and then the team results. The team results will blow you away because of the teams who beat us...and beat us real bad. Some of those schools are known as slow and unathletic schools. If we aren't very fast with very few linemen (don't care what the Knox guy says), we're in trouble.

Forget milesplit. Go to the meets and watch these guys. JG is fast. 11.1 in the 100 is good. He happened to run an 11.3 or 5 at HVA. The winner at HVA (Webb wunderkid) ran 10.87 that day and won. At OR Saturday he ran an 11.39 and got 4th. You don't run faster at every meet contrary to what you may believe.

Your "expectations aren't as high....after these track results"??? It was the first track meet we had! Lighten up Francis, and don't always act the the sky is falling.

While at HVA and talking with the McMinn Central coach he was looking forward to his 4x100 team getting "checked". He said his guys thought they were the fastest things around, and today was the day they found out otherwise. He said they needed to learn this before they could get faster.

You've essentially equated JG getting 9th at the first meet and the results you read on milesplit with a 1-9 football season. You're reaching, and you need to get out more.

  6. A Roll Wildcat Roll shout out to Lavert Smith for becoming the single season all time assist leader.

Shout out for sure to Levert. Better have your hands up playing with him! Some of those passes are QUICK.

While we're "shouting out" I'm gonna say Herb Booker off the bench was on fire.

Looking forward to the DC game. RWR

  7. I honestly wish their was more information about the track team online. They used to have their own website, but I can't find it anymore? I am a big track fan (especially sprints) nothing more exciting than watching a 4x100 race. Are Tray Jackson, Graham, and Pendergrass running track? If so, they would all make a killer 4x100 team in the future. We're talking state title winning tandem here. How did the meet go? I'd love to have a shirt.

It was a good meet. They have some real talent and Etheridge is a great coach. Unfortunately I didn't see Tre, but yes on Graham and Pendergrass. As a matter of fact Graham showed off in the 100 and the 4x100. You know how fast he is in pads. You should see him without and in spikes!

Shirts look great in either Cardinal or Gray, and were only 15 dollars. They may have some left for the first meet.

  8. Well there are a few things to consider...................

chicken feed to a school like OR, but would put a serious dent in the budget of a small school.

    .

    Just my .02 worth.

Keep in mind that the first class arena/school we played in last night was voted on and built by the citizens of Oak Ridge. It was what the majority of the public wanted for their children, and was around 60 million for the renovation. (for sure no chicken feed there)

That just happens to be a benefit of not falling into a county system.

    I understand your point though.

  9. What a game!

A fan from another school came to watch as his team's season is over, and said that might have been one of the best games he has seen. Even said the bonus "cheerleader battle" was awesome, and something he hadn't counted on. (We won that!)

DC played really well in a tough arena. Weren't we up by 10 twice?

Pretty much agree on most things already said, but have to ask a question.

Why no shot clock in HS basketball? Would that not increase the action tremendously?

  10. We went to a new offense and the coaches were bound and determined to make it work. And it did later in the year but it was awfully ugly and hard to watch early on. And we never did use our receivers like we should have......... Go figure.

    What SS said, too.

bounder you said that so much better now than I was able to during the season. It was all the to the end before I came to grip with the fact that we really WEREN"T going to utilize a 2 QB offense.

Wasn't trying to bash your QB, just using him to point out a very questionable offensive scheme given the talent at WR.

blazer neither am I, but me too.

With 14 and 17 both graduating is 2 the man this year? Who after that?

  11. Oak Ridge football related:

Finally! thanks for trying to get the train back on the tracks.

In addition to what you mentioned I hope this is the year we get to see Tre J stay healthy. I think he can have an immediate impact.

And back a couple pages. Nail on the head with TN getting 5 receivers this year. Tee tweeted as much on signing day. I'm sure he's gonna do what's right for him, and not look back.

  12. Therealtruth there are no more problems. But you can see why the haters are saying this because they win except in basketball of all things. The hardships are approved by the school board. The recruiting thing is funny, the facilities are old. The school is old.

You've danced around anything anybody has said relating to a problem at that school. Just in this thread there have been multiple articles about this place. I had no idea. Sure it's a hard pill to swallow, but it seems obvious there have been some heads in the sand down there.

And you don't have to make two posts to quote somebody.
