While NCS had a great year, I am sure there is major disappointment in not winning it all with all the transfers that became eligible this year.  A lot of potential college players playing against the smallest division in the State of TN, I can see why NCS fan base thought winning it all was expected in 2019.

Who are all these “college players”? Also, how many kids started new this year? You should know. Or you’re just talking out your backside trying to stir the pot.

    penalties

For all of those following this game, the point differential is deceiving. NCS had the ball at the 10 yard line with a chance to tie the game in the 4th. USJ connected on a deep ball following that drive to extend the lead to 21-7. The last score came with 20 or so seconds left.  It was a good defensive battle for most of the game. It was obvious after only a few plays to those that follow NCS closely that this probably would not be a good night. I am not an apologist for Coach Brothers but this one wasn’t really on him. There have been some games that have been, but this simply wasn’t one of them. Decent play at one critical position would have changed this game drastically. The stage was just to big. You could immediately see the nerves and it never changed. Countless opportunities missed. I was amazed it was as close as it was in the 4th. USJ had a few unnecessary penalties that negated plays that could have stretched this one out. Even still, it was plays by their defense. USJ is tough but I can’t see them getting by Davidson. Davidson will match their defensive effort and if they get anything out of their QB, I think they go back to back. I don’t think Davidson’s offense is capable of playing as poorly as the NCS offense did tonight. Many will disagree with some or all of this opinion on the game and that’s fine. If you saw both games with these teams this year,  the difference was absolutely glaring. Sour way to end a good season but a good season nonetheless. Congrats to USJ. I will be rooting for them in Cookeville.

Yea this game played out like I expected.  The Rams had a decent team in the EAST but a 5-5 team at best in the middle TN with BGA, CPA, FRA, LA, and Goodpasture.

Goodpasture really unfortunate to be in D2AA. They need to be in 1A. The Rams beat them 10 out of 10 games and they are “decent” as you put it. They just don’t have the horses to compete at the current level. Maximum effort and heart, talent pool has just stopped flowing their direction. Would be same for about any team in D2A at present.

Eagle9019 did you make it to the USJ game or watched it?  I would like your thoughts.

NCS is physical enough to hold it is own against Fayette.  If the NCS qb plays as well as he did against USJ i think NCS gets the win.

I did see the game a couple times. McClary played his best game thus far, by a wide margin. Hopefully that will be a trend going forward. We are strong in the middle of the defensive line but tend to get burned coming forward to hard off the line. Linebacker play has been much improved compared  to weeks 1-2. I still think the key will be containing Fayette’s QB when the field widens up for him to run, letting our D get off the field. Also hope we give some resistance at the line of scrimmage with the DB’s. Have to disrupt routes and keep the receivers from running free. Shocked if this one is not a high scoring game.

  5. NCS keys will be keeping the QB from running wild when either designed plays or broken plays occur. Also think they need to play tight press coverage to disrupt routes. NCS will need to run to set up the pass as well. If they are stuck throwing often, their chances for success will greatly diminish. Hopeful this one stays close.

If that play wasn't Worthy for ejection in your opinion then I don't know what would be. That was absolutely uncalled for. Both hands on the helmet. He had opportunity how to make a tackle without the violent play directed towards another player's head. That play was much worse than a lot of this targeting stuff that they call now

Goodpasture had no face mask calls, did not hold once and had no late little cheap shots. They have superior sportsmanship and no lapses in judgement. On the other hand , I haven’t sat and singled out every play and looked for those actions. What 2 players were ejected. One was 73 who reacted to a play where Goodpasture was flagged for a pretty aggressive face mask. Pretty sure that had to be an illusion, because GP does not do that sort of thing. Just curious who the other ejection was?

  7. If you take what the guys do against their top three opponents, it's a much better gauge for judging who deserves these awards. All of these backs have 4-6 games a year they could rush for 500 yards. The stats in those games are all fluff. Do it against teams with similar ability. That being said, Myers and Hewitt were more than impressive when they faced off. You couldn't go wrong with either one.

I personally know of a case where an all state player who has offers fron OVC schools was told he should just enjoy playing his senior year and count on this being the end of his football playing days. I know of letters being sent to NCS and not given to kids. I have heard him personally tell parents and kids not to attend camps. They are frowned upon at NCS. The kid who has offers from OVC schools has gotten his offers through camps- Brothers has not done a blank thing to help him! Brothers followed a pipeline of talent to NCS. Do you think he brought his dismal record from PJP and everyone followed? HAHA! State champ was won by players, not him. He is the reason we dont have the two best backs in the league. He ran the other one off. He cant communicate with parents in ways that make them want to leave their kids there. A state championship team could be built from the players who have left NCS in the last 4 years.

Who has left NCS in the last 4 years? Wilhoite is obvious. What others are you speaking of?

  9. Cherokees put pressure on the lion QB all night! Mr. Football winner... Silvey body slams him so much that he will be calling plays through his helmet earhole! AND!..that's how you beat pass happy teams.

Sit back west TN girls and watch the SHOW !

They run it better than they throw it. I do remember Silvey getting our QB last year. Only problem was he speared him about three seconds after the whistle was blown. So yes, I would worry more about him after the whistle than before especially if the game gets ugly.
