  1. The White County Warriors looked good in a scrimmage at Tech against Oneida, Clay, Smith, and Rockwood.

Trip Pinion was the best player on the field. He had 3 or 4 interceptions, He ran for several touchdowns and threw for several as well.

JoJo Dowell ( Malaki’s little brother) broke a 30+ yard TD on his only touch.

The Warriors looked particularly good against Smith who had  got the best of them in the Spring:

  2. White County’s defensive backfield has improved tremendously over the second half of the season. FC hurt us on bubble screens but our down field coverage wasn’t bad. I feel like we play a little like UT as far as we sometimes are very aggressive on the defensive side of the ball and that can bite us in the butt at times but also creates big plays on D.

Our offensive line is playing lights out right now as are our fullback and TE. 600+ against a good and athletic FC team makes a big statement.

I’m sure we are a big underdog in most people’s minds and that is OK. We tend to like it that way.

I can only estimate, but he’s probably somewhere around 1200 yards rushing 12 tds. He only gets about 10-14 carries a game. He’s also blocked punts, extra points and field goals for Tds. All While missing the first game of the season. Our best playmaker for sure.

I sure was impressed with him and 6 when we played you guys the first time. Nolensville and Page are both really good teams but I really believe MJ and WC are too. I hope we both take care of business so we see if you stand behind that 17 point prediction you made earlier ;) Good luck Friday! Let’s repeat one of the most entertaining games of the year next week.

ALL of the Warriors played great tonight.

Yes they did! The O-line were grown men. The Jumbo set had a couple extra guys step in and block well. Bumbalough was a beast at fullback! Almost 600 yards offense with 0 passes. Two guys almost ran for 300!

Defense played well but was hurt by penalties that kept FC drives alive. The officiating was awful on both sides.

I stand by this, I called them out earlier this year on that same fact… they hate facts in White Co. I watched the NFHS tape where Dowell played 3 series.. well into the 2nd quarter.

We love facts in White County

Fact: We are hosting a playoff game when we were winless just a few years ago

Fact: Our running back has over 2,500 yards this season and our quarterback has over 1,000 on the ground and almost 1,000 in the air

Fact: We are 8-2. We lost those 2 games by a total of 5 points.

Fact: Our community is enjoying our team’s success

Fact: Win or lose it has been a great season and we are all proud of our team.

Game is online.. it was stated “entire game” and now stated “5” plays. Actually it was 12 offensive plays, which was until late in second quarter… it really just doesn’t matter though. I never understood making excuses for losses or close wins as was being done. It’s football, a contact sport. Injuries come and go. Mistakes happen. Anyone can beat anyone if the stars align. As stated, I was told that FC played the majority of there season without 3 of their best players. Some of which go both ways as Dowell does. I don’t know if they are back or not. Only film I can see is some highlights from a couple weeks ago and they still were not playing. You just have to put in who is next and play. Does it effect games.. yes.. but that doesn’t matter.

You are correct, I was wrong. He played two series and touched the ball 6 times. I think I quoted what someone else had said.  If Malaki touches the ball 6 times then he usually has at least one touchdown. He probably shouldn’t have played but he was a competitor and wanted desperately to try.

#6 played against Wilson Central until late in the second quarter. Don’t use the word “entire” if it wasn’t entire. Rivals, injuries, turnovers, playing down, none of that matters. Every team goes through it. If I’m not mistaken FC has been without 3 of there better players since like week 4. Hopefully both teams are healthy for this matchup. Should be a good one.

    He played 5 plays

  9. One of the things that I love about this game between my alma mater and the school where I help the staff and coach at the middle school is that there are coaches on both sides that have been with the Seniors since they were little guys playing youth league. There will be a lot of emotion in the game and extra emotion on the losing side line. Either way I am proud of the impact these coaches have made on these young men for over a decade.

White County is getting bounced in the first round. And I’m not jealous of him lol. He’s got offers from naia schools and the worst FCS program in the nation Tennessee Tech.

Nobody has attacked you or your team. We came over there and had you beat until a trick play. You have facilities on par with some small colleges. You have “SEC” recruits. You talk about all your transfers. You better hope we get bounced early because there is nothing our boys would love more than ending your season and shutting your mouth. Most of our coaches work full time jobs. Every player on our team is home grown. We are 8-2 and lost two games by a total of 5 points. Not sure why you have an issue with a town supporting their team and players. I would love a home game so I hope your team wins tomorrow. I really do hope to see you again.

That would make a White County/Franklin County matchup in Sparta! would be a fun game!

Yeah and I am a Franklin County Alum who now coaches (linemen)middle school in White County. I also help on the sidelines for the high school. My parents still go to all the FC games. There is a young man on the team who my sister helped raise.

  12. I have been trying to figure out the different scenarios on where we ( White County) will be seeded when the playoffs start.  I know that the loss last week to Wilson Central hurt us. I think we can end up in a three way tie for second but I’m not sure what the tiebreakers are. I was just curious how everyone thought it might play out. There have been some great games in this region. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings however, to be put in 4A next season. I hope everyone across the region stays healthy as we finish the season and represents 5 5A in the playoffs.

  13. You might as well get used to hearing the names Pinion and Dowell for the next 4 1/2 years. The younger brothers of the White County stars, along with the help of RB/LB Cole Sims, and a very strong line and  receiving core just went 10-0 in middle school. The WCMS Warriors scored 460 points and gave up 66 (mostly in JV mop up time). The closest games the Warriors faced were 28-6 wins against Macon County at the beginning and end of the season.
The Freshman and JV teams are also doing well as they have only lost one game apiece.

Its a fun time to be a Warrior football fan! It is good to know that we can fill up a football stadium just like we have always done the basketball gym.

  14. This was a good win for White County. Holding on and moving the ball to win the game without Malaki was huge for the Warriors. The Defense got a few stops when they needed to. The Warriors don’t need to let up but it seems like the hardest part of the region schedule is behind them and they are 2-1 in the region. I think they have a really good shot at hosting a playoff game.

Thanks for that.  Mace was 32-41 for 457 passing yards, 6 TDs, and 1 INT.    I was really proud of the way the offense executed and makes me excited for this program playing so many young guys in a lot of spots.

Obviously MD stole the show and was simply unstoppable for our defense.  He is really , very good.  And I really respect the way he isn't flashy, or show-boaty.   So refreshing to see out of a stud high school player these days.  A good FBS program should come calling soon enough and i expect him to have a great college career somewhere.

Good luck to the warriors as they continue throughout the season.  Nothing but class from their program last night.

    Go Cavs

Does anyone know where I can get team and individual stats for Cookeville? I need them for an article.

  16. I kept my mouth closed before the game. I felt like we had a good chance to win but was surprised at how dominant the Warriors were tonight. The Bisons had NO ANSWER for Malaki. He is a special talent and such a good kid. The physicality the Warriors played with especially on defense was impressive. This is a huge win for White County.
