Westview can force teams to throw the ball and the secondary is very good 4 picks last night alone

Yes they can. When Huntingdon got behind the sticks and had to throw the ball it was ugly.  Was it only 4 picks last night? How many total turnovers where there? It had to be a lot. It seamed like every MAHS drive ended in a turnover.

  2. No offense to Riverside whatsoever, but this Westview team is the real deal. You mainly hear about Simpson, which is no fault of anybody, he’s a generational talent, but the whole team is stacked. I’d be shocked if this is closer than 2 touchdowns. Anything can happen though. That’s why you play the game. Good luck to both teams.

  3. Honestly I was hoping for a back and forth shootout but this worked….. 4 interceptions (I think that’s what they threw, I lost count) was pretty impressive as well!  It just strengthened my opinion that Westview is the team to beat moving forward. Their defense can match up with whatever gets thrown at them and we know what they’re capable of on offense.

Congrats again! Like a previous poster said, bring the gold home for our Region!

  4. This will be a great game. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a 2 touchdown difference either way.  MAHS has a beast of a defense and speed everywhere. Westview will be Westview and have opportunities and make plays but MAHS has the speed to limit the big plays. Can Westview contain Cam Miller and Brown? It will be a challenge.

Im going to have to go with MAHS 16 Westview 21

In my opinion, the winner of this one is the future 2A state champ.

Shut up and stop making excuses.  You lost plain and simple. Stop blaming it on penalties and turnovers.  Take your L like a man.

Really? I don’t see any excuses in his post, only facts. Westview is a really good team, and Simpson is a great player, but if we’re being honest, the 40 yard run that got called back on a holding call (legit or not, not arguing that), and 2 plays later put the ball on the ground giving WV the ball on the 25 was a killer. Getting behind the sticks and getting in passing situations, leading to 3 turnovers, one being a pick 6….. Penalties put them behind the sticks and in those situations (again, not saying they were bad calls) WV might have had 2 tackles for a loss all night, and then it was only 1 or 2 yards.

It’s football, and those things happen, but there’s not a huge difference in the 2 teams I watched. Huntingdon could score too. Their style is just not as flashy, and turning the ball over 4 times won’t work against any team let alone WV.

  6. Coming from a Huntingdon guy, the McEwen game concerned me. They played us closer than anybody in the Region the last couple of years. They will flat out hit you. I know we’re not going off of a lot but, just my humble opinion, if the same Waverly team that played Huntingdon shows up to play the Warriors, it’s going to be a repeat of last year.... maybe not even that close.

I feel offended I'm being lumped in with those pony fans. Half of em gave up on the season after the Bruceton game

I honestly don’t know how to take that game, but I really hope Bruceton is on the upswing. Their defense smothered Huntingdon’s offense. If they can get the offense figured out, I feel like they can make some noise. I’d personally love to see it. I remember in the late 80’s early 90’s you didn’t want to play them.... and Huntingdon didn’t for several years.

I dont know where you heard that they were good.  They are from California that really doesn't mean anything.  Man it was HOOOOOOT out there.  Conditioning showed for sure.  It had to be even hotter on turn and in all the gear.  Im here to eat my crow.  We are not where we need to be but I'm sure we will see some changes.  It would have been nice to some noticeable adjustments. I didn't stay to the end but for as good as wav was last week they were bad today.  Curious if there would have been a difference if we played last night.  Thinking the heat played a role.

Every kid on that field had to dig deep today in that heat.

I believe this game showed that both of these teams aren't exactly what a lot of people thought they were...

May be right. No doubt Huntingdon is in rebuild mode but heart and playing hard means a lot. Like I said in my first post, personally, I’m just looking for improvement each week from these guys that’s had to wait their turn and the younger ones. They did that this week.

Best of luck to Waverly the rest of the season. They showed that their offense can put up points. There were lots of early drops that would have made this game a lot more interesting.
