Well hopefully all your starters are playing. I want to know where we stand
We greatly appreciate the respect, but we’re definitely not the same team as years past. The boys are going to give everything they have though. We’ve been very fortunate for a long time, but we’re in rebuild mode. Hope to see growth each week.

Snyder for Lake County is an absolute man child. Congrats Lake County! After last weeks game here in Huntingdon I got to see for myself you boys where the real deal. After that, I knew there wasn't a team in 1A that wanted any!
-
I was expecting a complete blowout considering GB and SoutPitt posters told us all week how much better they were than anything in West Tennessee.
-
This is one heck of a game! Come on LC!
-
-
No clue what Greenback has other than an outstanding QB and WR group. I think there are plenty of yards to be had through the air against LC. On the other side of the ball; stopping #5 and #11 is a problem. LC could grind it out 3 yards at a time and control the game. Snyder made a believer out of me. He’s a wrecking ball.
Best of luck to both teams, but I’m going with LC in this one. Bring the Gold back west!

Congrats to Lake County. #5 and #11 are the real deal!
When they were warming up, for a second I thought to myself they’re not too much bigger than Huntingdon, then I noticed they didn’t have their pads on.
Bring that Gold Ball West!

I don’t know if you read it or not Shocker, but around page 20 or so they said you fit the description of the gentlemen that got kicked out of the game in 2010 and then proceeded to put on one heck of a show.....
So, was that you?
If so, my hat is off to you. That was awesome.

From what I was told, the band wanted to come to huntland and had planned on coming to huntland had the game been played on Friday night. With it being played on Thursday they couldn't secure a bus driver to drive a bus because the drivers didn't want to get home at 2 in the morning and then wake up for their routes on Friday morning school. They couldn't afford a charter bus and the band director got mad at the school because they wouldn't purchase the band a charter bus for them. So a couple of band members who happened to go to the game brought some drums that had been stored in the old armory building and have been unused for 10 plus years to use in the student section. The director was mad at the band students for not boycotting the game.. sounds pretty juvenile. I have been told that the band is performing Friday night.
It does make me a little more forgiving now that I heard that side of the story. At least he originally wanted to travel. He still needs to grow up. Like I said in my previous post; the temper tantrum he threw in the first round versus Richland was embarrassing.
-
I seen him loose his mind over some petty crap when we played Richland. I think one of the band members made the comment about being cold. He had a come apart telling them that they knew it was going to be cold and they should have dressed "appropriately."
Maybe the school will give him his wish and fire his sorry butt after the game, or better yet; fire him before the game.

Talking about our late scores with Union City and Westview. Why throw at all?Game well in hand.Against UC,the last score for LC was a running play.So LC wasn't throwing the ball still. He didn't tell everyone that.
I understand your point there. Just handing it off, and running clock would have looked a little better. I’m just going to tell myself we were preparing for the next week where we knew we’d have to mix in the passing game to keep drives alive.
But still, he just threw it to the first down marker. The receiver done the rest.
-
Talking about the late touchdown versus Huntland:
It was a short pass to the sideline and the receiver shook 2 tackles and took it about 60 yards. It wasn’t a deep bomb like some are making it out to be.
I don’t know how much else can be said about this game. I know nothing more than I’ve read on hear about Lake County. Obviously you all have a great team. I feel like we have a great team as well. We haven’t been good at defending the pass that’s a fact, but we haven’t faced many teams that we’ve had to worry about it or respect it. It’s cost us a few times. I’m confident the coach’s will have the team ready for what’s coming.
No score prediction, it will be close either way and the starters will have to go the whole game. The players will decide it, not a bunch of posters on CoachT.

The kid....was the starting TE and he had 2 receptions against your Mustangs for 110yds and the TD
He is also currently leading the state in tackles with 164 - had 41 tackles in the playoffs
Great for him!
I wasn't talking about the player that scored the touchdown late in the game for Huntland.
I was talking about #21 for Huntingdon. He's a DB, that as far as I know hasn't had a reception all year on offense. He's the one that took that last TD for Huntingdon to the house that had the guys in the radio booth for Huntland cussing.
I only posted because someone said that Huntingdon never subbed.
And yes, they're all kids. Don't put the burden of being adults on them just yet.

The fan base is SPOILED, but very passionate about their football. The support the community gives the program would rival anywhere in the state. A lot of people have a hard time accepting the fact that when we get beat, that the other team could have just been better or better on that night.

No I think we will spread it out a little more than that. We may come out 5 wide?
If we come out 5 wide, I may have the big one....

They have had some transfers that showed up that just happen to be good at football.
Orchestration you say? Ha!

I agree with horse. To me, this years Mustang team is good, but not as good as the last 2 years.
Serious Question. I haven’t watched Lake County in several years. What makes this years Lake County team so much better than last years, other than another year older and stronger? From what I’ve read over the last couple of years; Lake County was Junior heavy last year like Huntingdon.
I’ll hang up and listen.

For the Record, Huntington never subbed! Huntland also had 154 yards passing 6-8 and 100 yards rushing.
What? lol
The kid that caught that last TD, that everyone had a stroke over, has only had 1 reception all year..... and that was it.

Again my thoughts on the game. Huntland played inspired ball. They just didn't have the horses up front to keep up with the Mustangs for 4 quarters. Plus their lack of a passing attack kept them one dimensional for the most part even though they completed 2 passes over the top. It is true that Region 5 Class 1A was a close battle this year. Not much difference between the top 3 and Fayetteville as well. I don't think Fayetteville would have fared any better if much at all.
Huntingdon was by far the better team. They reminded me of Meigs on offense somewhat but not as big or had as much depth as Meigs County. Huntingdon started out very slow and that may have been due to the long drive and don't forget it was played a day earlier than normal. We are all creatures of habit and anything out of the norm can and does affect us.
Huntland controlled the tempo early on. And the helmet to helmet call at the end of the first half was definitely a good call. Ensley seemed to be sitting on the ground for the most part after a couple defenders had him brought down and wrapped up. Then another defender came in late and delivered a shot that drew a flag from every official out there. That 15 yard penalty accessed on the 2nd half kickoff set Huntingdon up on a commanding 2nd half performance. They just muscled up and had their way for the most part after that.
I was glad towards the end that no one got tossed from the game. You wouldn't want to see it against your team/school so why would you want to see it called against another? Playoffs are heated and rightfully so. Everything you've work for all year is coming down to the wire. Emotions flare. Remember to be led by emotions and not controlled by them and you'll be better off for it.
Huntingdon didn't throw a long pass at the end. Just a 10-15 yard out pattern. A couple of broken tackles a juke here and there and a reverse of field and the kid took it to the house.
If Huntingdon is to advance next week I believe they'll have to play a more sound game defensively. Of course now they have an extra day and will be hosting. Already clinched their semifinal game. So all is good on that front.
As for Huntland they had a really good year. Much impressed with the way they have improved over the course of the season. Huntland is a small and very proud town. Reminds me some of South Pitt. It's just that Huntland lacks enough players. But I will say they get the most out of what they've got.
Very nice crowd last night. Good to see other schools represented from across the State. So I don't want to hear anything about being soft and not playing the game in the rain tonight. As for myself, a fan of high school football, I'm very glad the game was moved because I got the opportunity to watch another quarterfinal game. I'm selfish that way I guess.
Good luck to Huntland as regroup and start looking forward to next year.
Also congrats to Huntingdon for clinching a semifinal berth. There are 6 other teams playing tonight in 1A that are trying to accomplish that feat. So good luck next week.
And to the other top 3 out there, let's get it on!
Good Post!
Huntingdon looked like they were just going through the motions in the first half. Was it the trip, looking ahead, uninspired, or was it the opponent? I don’t know.
We were definitely selling out on the run, and got caught over the top a couple of times. #4 and #6 are really good players. Great muscle and speed combo.
At the end of the night, we’re moving on. That’s all you can ask for this time of year. Survive and advance.
