Your analysis of the Board and DOS is accurate.  As far as Austin, he's true to his word and loyal to his friends unlike the way he's been treated.  I'm sure he will be able to look back with few regrets in regards to the way he has treated others.  If loyalty to your friend cost you a job, it says more about those making the decision than it does you.  And you're right a 10 win season is what it will take to make them forget and make them happy.  Not sure how long that will take, but he doesn't have long because there's always a ticking time bomb.

Anybody that watched very many games and saw Spencer Reese carry the ball for 1/2 the rushing yards this year would realize that he was playing exactly where he needed to be playing.  The year before he played quarterback and did a good job--evidently the coaching staff believed that year that having Spencer behind center was the best option.  This year the COACHING STAFF made another decision.  Watching Spencer as RB you knew he was in his sweet spot.  The fact is THE COACHING STAFF, who was hired to make those decisions, who spent countless hours in the spring and summer months and throughout the fall with those young men and knew the overall abilities, attitudes, make-up of each player and the team as a whole made the decision they deemed best and necessary.  The fact is it really wasn't anyone else's decision to make.  And yet, lots and lots of people made it their business and wreaked havoc because of it.  6-5 and a trip to the playoffs wasn't enough.  Dobbs is quoted as saying he is looking forward to being in a community that is supportive.  He hardly knows the truth.

MC1996 I'm certain we've met. Lynchburg isn't that big of a place. Most people know each other, don't they? When you grow up there you know everyone even if you move outside the town lines after you're 18.

TheAmbassador, you're probably right. Dobbs, just like the last 8, can probably do a fine job IF he's given the opportunity. That's the big IF. Historically those conditions just haven't existed in MC.

2016--seems like those outside the county have their finger on the pulse of this situation pretty well. You hit the nail on the head. Win you move on. Lose in your first year or two or refuse to let those in the stands coach and you get your walking papers or else you decide to walk on your own because you realize you'll never really get the chance to build a program as long as others inside the camp are tearing down as fast as you can build.

Sad sad situation. I wish Dobbs and his family the best. I wish the MC Raiders the best. Nobody wants a great group of young men to suffer over the choices of others that they're just the unfortunate benefactors of, again and again.

I seriously doubt that. He's coming from Murfreesboro where his wife just took a job as an assistant principal in July. Not sure how anyone would think he's coming for the long haul--when considering his personal situation or when taking Moore County's track record with coaches into consideration. Pie in the sky wishes if anyone thinks those folks are going to let him coach without expecting him to listen to the parents, the "legends", and every other "somebody" with the right last name. Small town politics will get him just like the last 8--sooner or later. May take some time for the honeymoon phase to wear off but it happens to the best of them. Poor guy. Another one in this ugly, vicious trap.

It'll need to be someone who hasn't heard of the track record you guys have with head coaches. Anybody close by will know they only have a life expectancy of 2-4 years and would be foolish to want any part of good ole Moore County.

This forum has seemed to turn in one about Mac McCurry. Where did that guy get off too? He was at Madison County, Alabama Buckhorn High School as a science teacher and asst. coach but does not seem to be there anymore. He turned down the option to step down as head coach which in turn means he turned down tenure. Very few people I know find the option of assisting the position you formally held as appealing for you, your successor, or the program you love. The fact is he'll be an asset to another program. He'll find the position that's right for him and his family and will invest in the young men there just like he has at Moore County for six years. Everybody is entitled to an opinion about who should play where but in the end there's one man hired to make that decision based on lots of variables. The unfortunate thing in Moore County is that the coaching staff can't make those decisions and be respected. There's too many people who think they should call the shots. The next guy will run into the same scenario as soon as he doesn't play who they think he should play.

Let's get this straight about the whole politics thing. He was offered tenure ( as defensive coordinator) but turned it down. And their were better options at QB. Like the Reese kid. Frost is a good athlete but had too much pressure on him at a young age.

He'll land on his feet. I assure you of that. He's too strong of a man to let people of so little character tear him down. In the end he knows that when one door closes God's already got another one open for you--better and bigger opportunities await where people will appreciate what you bring to the table, the sacrifices you make, and the fact that you build men on and off the field not just win ball games.

coach Austin is a great football coach and even a better man.  He gave everything he had to the kids and the program.  no one loved moore county more or gave more.  two years is never long enough to prove your value as a head coach.  everything now days has matriculated  into the same thing as the pro game and the college game.  If things do not work fast, get rid of the coach and give some else a shot.  People do not get into coaching to get rich.  Jeremy will have left in his six years there having affected lots of young men and women in a very positive way.  A football coach is just like any other job except it is spot lighted on 10 and if you happen to get lucky 15 Friday nights each year in the fall.  Many do not see the sacrifice that each coach makes to his own family and he helps raise and turn boys into men.  For every hour of games played under the lights there are hundreds more in the weight room, practice field and at home in front of a computer or a tv watching film of the next weeks opponent.  Just like everyone I know no one ever wants to lose and coaches do not get into coaching to ever lose, we all hate it.  So whether coach mac comes back or it is someone else it is still the loss of a great guy and a fantastic football coach who happens to be one of my good friends.  The life of most coaches is a life of a wanderer, some by choice, some by circumstance.  Bear Bryant, who my son is named after, said there were only two types of coaches, those that are fired, and those that will be.  We live in a magical age of twitter, blogs, insta- gramming in which anyone that can type can put up truths and untruths about anyone whether they have any truth to them or not.  So instant results are usually demanded and when not met dealt with harshly.  the only thing I do know is that Jeremy and his family will rebound and rebuild and someone will be lucky to have him.  That is what kind of person he is and the person that he taught his kids to be while he coached them.  He will learn and move on.

79raider97 I certainly didn't mean to imply that there were no fans that were in support of the program. Furthermore I'm just one of those fans sitting there listening to the griping and complaining of so many. I agree with the recommendations of several here that what really needs to happen is to give this young staff a chance. To give a young QB a chance and to stop threatening to go to the school board etc. the last thing I intended to do is insult those who are truly fans. I'm proud to be a raider fan on Friday night. Just saddened by those who are continuing to be so destructive Toward our coaches and kids. As you stated 79raider97 we are certainly all free to state our opinions and I appreciate yours and hope that you will consider the intended meaning of my original posts. Certainly not that there aren't amazing fans just that there are far too many who continue to be naysayers and this only hurts a program full of potential.

Sounds like somebodys kid isnt getting QB p/t daddy thinks he deserves...Maybe we can get him a trophy...I guess Cascade,Cornersville,Sumertown and Grace coaches should find new careers then, since they cant coach....typical sour grapes loser BabyBlue

Unfortunately the stands are filled with fans just like this one, meaning olebue78, every Friday night.  The fence is lined with "fans" who obviously should've gone to school for a degree in teaching and coaching because they know it all.  You'd think we had every Mr. Football for the last 20 years there.  What this program could use is a stadium full of men and women who were real fans-- who cheered for the 14, 15, 16, and 17 year old boys out there enjoying their high school years with a game they love and who supported a coaching staff who is trying to not just teach them the game of football but also what it means to be men of character.   It's really easy to play and coach from the stands.
