Because they reported us with zero evidence in an attempt to get our season forfeited. They had already been beaten on the field and knew they couldn’t do it in the playoffs. They wanted to win by any means necessary and resorted to attacking the character of players, coaches and parents to get it done.

You keep saying zero evidence but where the accusations true

Exactly. Daniel's 2019 team was arguably the most talented Williamson County team in a loooong time and got KILLED by Maryville. Hester beat them in 2015 with a less talented team. Yes, he had Chris Rowland who's a stud, but the overall team wasn't near as talented as the 2019 Ravenwood team. Last years team was also very talented and they lost to a far less talented Franklin team. Not debatable at all, Boo has something against Hester and Creasy lol.

And van Jefferson who play for the Rans, another kid that return some kicks for the Falcons, both offensive tackles that went big and a QB (forget his name) that was resiculously good.  Heaters teams were loaded.  Not saying he is not a good coach I am just saying that Matt Daniels has done a very good job.

Not to mention I think this is when Crawford went to Cleveland and Brentwood was a mess so Ravenwood was getting all the talent

Everybody knows who recruits in the Mid State.  No surprises.  I hear several more transfers may land at a Wilco school.

Interesting.  I know you don't want to mention players names but what school are are supposedly getting these kids?  Don't they have to live in the zone?

Not $600,000. I guarantee you that a good English teacher or band director doesn’t make half of that. Colleges can afford it because of the TV money they bring in.

I would agree and understand that kind of pay is not feasible.  I would argue that coaches touch way more lives than your ordinary teacher.  Not trying to devalue teachers what so ever just saying coaching is much more personal and influencial

And I’m sorry, but nobody deserves that kind of money to coach in high school. I don’t care if he coaches every sport, teaches every class, and prepares the lunches everyday!

So making a life changing impact in 100's of young life's that can make changes for the rest of their lives is not worth that kind of money?  Colleges coaches making millions to win without that kind of impact in lives is worth the money?  Priorities

All this ring talk......in the last ten years Riverdale is 3-10 against Blackman. Riverdale had a great run with Rankin. Of course during Riverdale's run it was Riverdale and Oakland in Murfreesboro area. Riverdale during this time was pulling in kids from Eagleville too. Now in the area you have Siegel, Blackman, Rockvale, SC, and Eagleville with teams. Before long there will be Almaville, Walter Hill, and Christiana area high schools. The past is the past.

As for the poster saying NC would have beaten the Murfreesboro schools.....naw I don't think so. Big difference beating 1A and 2A schools then beating 5A and 6A schools. Even with talent. I saw NC during this time and even when they were winning gold balls they struggled to beat even 3A schools.

As for Creasy vs McDaniels......we will never know. If McDaniels had stayed at Oakland would they have won more gold balls? Probably so. If Creasy was at Rockvale would they have won a gold ball already? Probably not. Both are good to great coaches. Both have been blessed to have been around great talent while at Oakland.

As for Blackman which this thread is about.....we know Tygard will run the offense. Any ideas who might be a candidate for the defense?

I may have missed it but has tyagard said he will call the offense.  When he first came to Ravenwood with Daniel he was k own for his defense.  I. Fact he had never called offense before Ravenwood.  He had always called the defense.

Not sure how my team has anything to do with your question about Creasy.

To reply, in my opinion, it was a combination of things.  Huge talented senior class the year before that left a lot of holes to fill, no spring practice to evaluate players, no guided summer workouts for strength and conditioning,  a coaching staff that has admitted to being too soft in light of the Covid circumstances, less talented, and as I aforementioned a lot of bad luck (bad bounces putting you in bad field position, phantom penalties that are sometimes subjective being called at ill advised times) tougher schedule than the year before, etc.  It was a combination of things.  But note: I never said he was a great coach, he may end up being that and I hope so,  I always took a wait and see attitude.  It takes more than one year to evaluate how someone will do.  Do I like him, yes!  Do I think he is still learning, yes.  Do I like the direction of the program in terms of off the field structure and tradition building, 100% yes!  Do I feel he needs to win games, yes!  Do you think he knows that, yes!
Does he have my support, 100%!
Anything other than that is a false perception of how I feel.  Again my opinion.  I think it would have been difficult to have 8 or 9 wins with what I saw last year in terms of talent overall.   Half of the seniors left before the end of the season and some were starters.   Let’s see how this year goes before reigning down judgement.

Very good points!  All of which is why I originally said and still believe that athletes make coaches.  If you would have put Creasy or any other "great" Coach in Gallatins coaches shoes last season they would have had the same results...imo.

Depends on the $ the T$$AA receives.  Money talks and the Bull stuff walks!

Should not take much with the severe lack of funds going into the T$$AA this last year.

You would think that those TSSAA directors would take a pay cut this year to help meet budget.

The only one who is out of their mind is you hoss!   5 State Championship as opposed to one. Of course I understand tha Blaze fans have never experienced a State Championship in Football like Riverdale and Oakland.

I would argue that when Daniels was at Oakland it was much more difficult to win a state title. I personally believe that Maryville was much much better back then under Quarles.  Ravenwood Cane Ridge and Whitestation was at their height as well. Not to mention wasn't Blackman and maybe 1 other in county team under much better leadership?

I disagree.  Good coaches can “coach up” talent.  Bad coaches can win with good talent. Those coaches that win every year are good coaches no matter the class.  Also a bad coach can also never let the kids reach full potential. I think you need a good coach and talent to work with to win it all, and a bit of luck along the way.

Creasy could definitely coach college ball.

I think there are many coaches that could college ball.  But let's look at your school as an example.  In 2019 your coach had you all rolling and you were aiming his graces about finally having a great coach to coach the boys up etc.  Then 2020 (and I mean no disrespect) but you all were terrible.  So did you all just not have talent or did your coach forget how to coach?  Can't be both ways.

McDaniel had very similar talent. In 2014 I think almost the entire defense went on to play college ball. When McDaniel was there,  he was abut 500 against Blackman and Riverdale. Creasy has made Oakland a true monopoly in Rutherford County.I can't really speak to the recruiting if I don't have evidence. There's always allegations out there. There was when McDaniel was the coach also. Yes, there are many great coaches out there that don't have the talent of Oakland. In my county, I think of schools like Brentwood, Independence, and Franklin. All three of those coaching staffs do a great job with less talent.  Ron Crawford and Scott Blade would have similar success with that talent, because they are great coaches. We can say the same thing in college football about Nick Saban. People don't hold the fact that he has great talent against him. He does a great job of program building and developing players. Two things can be true. You can have great players and be a great coach.

I would agree with that.  I just believe athletes make coaches and not the other way around.

  12. 43 minutes ago, MidStateFan1 said:

I start with the fact that he's been there 6 years hasn't lost a game to a Rutherford county opponent yet. He has also never lost to a Tennessee team outside of Maryville. 3 state Championships at Trousdale and they haven't won one since he has been gone. I would say that is pretty great. Yes, he's had great talent, but coaching and program development plays a major role in that. I also disagree with you saying his scheme is very simple. I have a coaching friend in Williamson county who says his scheme is one of the hardest to prepare for. He uses more formations than anyone, and really uses 3 schemes: Wing T, Pro I, and Spread. That's my opinion.

The WingT is a simple scheme but also very difficult to stop.  Maybe that is why he is so good is that he doesn't complicate things.  I also believe that he has u deniable talent to work. More than any other team. I also think that the fact that he has been caught cheating (and from what has been reported he does recruit etc) does tarnish his reputation.  So my next question to you would be so you think that many coaches around TN would have won with the level of talent that he has been blessed to Coach the last couple of years?

For a public school, no. McDaniel was able to make 2-3x when he got hired at CBHS so I have no doubt Creasy could do the same.

Everyone loves to point out the fact that Oakland is loaded with talent, which is no doubt true. What people don't mention is they have one of the best coaching staffs in the state

Would you have said the same things about McDaniels when he left for CBHS?  I am sure a lot of you would have said he is one of the best coaches in the state.   But how has he done at CBHS

Could be. I don’t know the man personally, but George Quarles has done well as an asst. at the college level. In fact, he was runner-up for the HC job at UTC. While I have no idea how good Murfreesboro pays its coaches (I do know that Gary Rankin got a big raise when he went to Alcoa), my point was that outside of maybe Brentwood Academy, that there is no high school situation in Tennessee where he would be better off.

I don't know him either but I would argue that the worst coaches in Tn could win with the amount of talent that Oakland has right now.  They are very simple on Offense and defense but maybe that is the beauty of his coaching.  Keep it simple so those athletes can out athlete other teams

As for Creasy leaving for greener pastures, it would have to be in another state, a private school or a college job. The grass doesn’t get any greener in Tennessee does it?

So you think Creasy is a college level coach?

No, you misunderstood... These were good assitants that went elsewhere when Shad, Watson  left... the QB coach went to siegel. Harris went to MTCS, Gilstarp took a job in a JUCO and is now at MTSU and Oliver who was a line coach at Oakland went to Centennial I believe or some other WILCO school

    Oh ok

Shadowens and Watson in my opinion were good  Coaches . I had boys that played under both of them and have been following Blackman football for about 15 years.  I would consider David a good friend as far as that goes. The issue with Watson was not the kids or the program. It was Oakland., with Teague, Knox, Otey,Sewell, Armstrong, Mitchell and all that talent, they didn't get it done against Oakland.. Justsus wants to win.  With Shadowens who was doing a good job against Oakland, and had a well disciplined team, Justus did not like the fact that he was not intimidated by her and was going to run things his way.  I fought to keep Shadowens, and would have done the same for Watson, but found out, you are not goingto beat the system. As far assistants go some of the better assitants are gone and have been for a while  (Oliver/ Gilstrap/ Harris/ ?? qb coach that went to Siegel) You still have coach Mac, Coach Meadows and Knox  that are there from long haul. I don't think any of them are pulling the strings.

Blaze if Siegel has all those good assistants then why are the so bad year after year?  I am an outsider that is curious.
