  1. Every field should be a neutral site for the state tournament. Even if it is at your home field. Even if it was chosen a year in advance. Have some respect for all the teams TSSAA.

Hat tip to this thread. I havent been here in a couple of years, but at the Duals all weekend.

For 18 pages the officiating has gone unsathed.   The back and forth has been excellent.

Pulled an MJ?  Meaning undeserved victory?

    Easy there.

This is Tennessee, we are resigned to the fact of inconsistency, and differing rule interpretations.

Hate the way they rotate. The match got called three different ways. Could you imagine how frustrating it would be for a pitcher to have a different umpire every batter. Pitchers adjust to the umps zone. Wrestlers do the same thing.

My not so conventional picks. I know Gibbs is a very good team, but I'm not ready to hand them the trophy just yet like many seem inclined to do.

    Round 1:

Greeneville over Signal Mtn- Signal Mtn doesn't have enough after the lightweights to win this match.

Fairview over Nolensville- Coach Derrick did his best Coach Gossett impression during the regular season when he wrestled Coach Peck's squad. Those scores are VERY misleading! Fairview wins when everyone wrestles.

Hixson over Gibbs- Hixson wins a very close match bc they keep from giving up 6's to a few of Gibbs better wrestlers. My LEAST CONFIDENT 1ST RD PICK!!!

Greenbrier over Alcoa- Coach Gossett does his best with what he has but it isn't enough to beat Greenbrier.

    1st rd Consolation:

Gibbs over Alcoa- Gibbs just better

Nolensville over Signal Mtn- Coach Peck's small guys keep it close til help arrives with the middle and heavyweights.

    Semis:

Greeneville over Fairview- Closer than many may expect but Fairview doesn't have enough experience yet in the very small weights.

Greenbrier over Hixson- Coach Reynolds Bobcats have enough studs to beat a solid Hixson team

    Consolation Semis:

Gibbs over Fairview- Potential to have a few very good (IND state tourney blood/medal round worthy) matches that will be very intersting, depending on each coaches strategy and choice.

Hixson over Nolensville- Hixson just too solid top to bottom.

    Consolation Finals:

Gibbs over Hixson- Gibbs get revenge.

Finals: Greenbrier over Greeneville- Top team in A/AA doesn't need the extra 'E' to prove they're the best.

Whoever gets to wear the Green ankle band wins the dual!!!!!!

    A/AA State Tournament PREDICTIONS

Region 1: Greeneville- already in, did you expect anyone else to overtake them?

Region 2: Pigeon Forge- sorry hrdcrwrestler, just "think" ya'll lose a close one when y'all both wrestle everyone. PF/ Gibbs loser forced to stay home while being one of the best small schools in the state.

Region 3: Alcoa- Gossett finally has to quit sandbagging and is forced to show his hand when he comes to Franklin after easily winning a very weak region outside of his team.

Region 4: Hixson- Runaway winner, no competition in their region, don't underestimate them in Franklin

Region 5: Signal Mtn beats out Red Bank.

Region 6: Nolensville over Forrest in a rubber match. My LEAST confident pick

Region 7: Greenbrier over Cheatham County/ White House. Cubs and Blue Devils gonna be chasin' the Bobcats again.

Region 8: Fairview- no one here has anything for Bubba's boys. Coach Woods Harpeth team has the horses, just not enough of them!

Does the Poole kid from Pigeon Forge being injured change any predictions there?

  5. I guess it depends on how you define class!?!? 23 taunted on a TD that was impressive without the taunting, he came over and taunted Greenbriers sideline, then he taunted and finally got a penalty. He had it coming.  It happens all the time! Every game.

  6. I watched the game as an unbiased observer. Here is my two cents! Greenbrier is one to two athletes away from being a really good. They play hard, clean, and tough football. Springfield has the athletes! They have a makeup that could carry them a long way in the playoffs. They lack in the class and discipline department. There could have been more penalties than what were called. Especially holding. There were at least 3 unsportsmanlike, roughing the passer and a face mask. You do the math on yards. That's too many personal fouls. That will kill them against good teams when they get to the latter rounds of the playoffs. It was a good game and a good football atmosphere. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.
