Pulling for Rockwood in this game. Coach Webb is a old-school through and through and will have the Tigers ready. Just think Tyner has too much. In a close one, Tyner wins 35-21.

Here is my take on this game. Greenback is the favorite. They have been to two straight championship games and have one of the best running backs in the state. Gilbert is a man child and will run wild over and through South Pittsburg. The one big edge South Pittsburg has is in coaching and I'm sure that Grider will have his team ready and prepared. Greenback has more speed and is explosive on offense. I will take Gilbert to lead Greenback to a 35-21 win.

I don't think its likely, but is Ryan going to appeal the ejection and suspension due to the groin shot? And that was the lamest ejection for a "punch" I've ever seen. GB player "punched" (more of a good shove) in the shoulder pad. I know a punch is a punch no matter where it hits, but that one was very borderline.
From what I seen on the television #52 was a bit mouthy. Of course when you have a head coach that talks smack to the players like Ryan does then they feed off that.

If I want any crap from you I squeeze your head!
Sorry didn't mean to ruffle your feathers big bird. And please stop crying about how the referees cost you the game against Grace. I wonder if you would have even seen the field on the last two or three Greenback teams.

Yes we will take a huge step back unless they open up so we can take out a county kids.
What??? I thought Greenback has been taking out of county and out of state kids the past few seasons. I know two of the starting linemen are from Maryville and Alabama. Silvey and Roberts were from out of county.

East Tennessee small ball is weak. I haven't seen a good team this year.

Are people up in the mountains hyping this game up as the Pillow Bowl?

I'd love to see this game. Lunsford vs Lunsford, teacher vs pupil, father vs son. Then you have Uncle Pujo on one side and brother Pujo on the other. What a story line for this one.
Wonder if Pujo will have a that's my brother pillow or that's my nephew pillow carrying it on the sidelines?

This game could be the pillow fight of the year. NO chance any of the players get hurt this week. Neither team hits hard enough to break an egg.

Happy Valley needs to adjust that out-of-district scheduling. It hurts when you play good teams.

Is this the worst Oneida team since the 1950s?

It sure does if it gets an Alcoa reject in here.

Bad team vs. bad team. Poor coaching vs. awful coaching.

Why the edit purt?
I knew Greenback would cry if they lost. But man, they only scored 7 points and they are blaming the loss on the referees.

If all this talk is true about Marion County having players suspended and injured might turn out good for them. Remember how all those suspended players and injuries helped Florida against Tennessee?

Mckamey is doing what I thought he would do at Clinton. Losing games.

True but it's rich in success over the years, Many others would love to have TL on their sidelines.
The annual losers would love to have him and some of the mediocre programs. But most of the good or great programs want what TL hasn't got and that is championships. Granted, he is a good defensive coach.

I know that people like you (ones that wear lipstick and like dingalings) do not have what it takes to play the game of football. You must have a boyfriend that has a kid on the team and you're trying to act like you know something about the sport that you have never played.

I kinda like the philosophy myself. Defense wins championships and I think Oneida has a few..
Defense can win championships, but you have to have some offense too. I didn't know Oneida has won championships. Only one I can remember was 1992 or so.
Class 1a state championship game Greenback against Cornersville
in Class 1A & Class 2A
Posted · Edited by EastTennesseeExpert
Just now getting a chance to chime in on this game. Congrats to Greenback. Is it just me or was these the two worst teams to ever play in a state championship game in Tennessee. Cornersville was the weakest west Tennessee team to ever play in the game and Greenback was the weakest East Tennessee team to ever play in it. Sure Greenback has some pretty good speed and the Gilbert kid is a talent for sure. But that offensive line was slow and not impressive at all. The last two Greenback teams would have beat this year's Greenback team by 35 points and we all know how they matched up against the other side of the state the last two championship games.
