  1. Great win Dogs! I didn't mean to hijack this board, but there wasn't a GCA/Cosby one. I did want to say from what I say tonight, Cosby is a classy group all the way around. Good fans and those kids played hard and clean.
  2. No problem at all. It's a play on my name. I'm a Hampton boy transplanted to Knoxville. My oldest is in kindergarten.
  3. DRB? I did talk to a Cosby guy at halftime that said a starter got arrested the other day and isn't playing. That would really hurt this time of year.
  4. 59-34 GCA, 2:06 3rd, Cosby has looked tired on D this quarter. Lots of easy shots.
  5. Grace 35-22 at half. Should be more, but Grace has missed a bunch of free throws, some easy shots, and gotten burned pressing.
  6. That does worry me about Hampton. I noticed Grace didn't press Meigs at all last week. But 15 points either way would shock me.
  7. Don't worry about it. You should just enjoy Coby's last home game!!!
  8. Can somebody do an occasional score update tonight? I'll try to do the same from the GCA/Cosby game. Thanks!
  9. Have a safe trip to Karns old24eagle. I'll be there on the other side, hopefully with my back against the wall around center court. Would be good to meet up, but I'll be busy chasing my 6-year old around.
  10. Gameday! I'm pulling for and picking Hampton, but I'm nervous. I only saw Meigs once, last Thursday. I'll trust blitzinbuc if he says they were leg weary. Meadows really impressed me early in the game, but he did seem tired in the 2nd half and I thought Arnold's height bothered his shot, too. I don't know how much size Hampton has, but that might be the key. Moore was the one player that never seemed to slow down. Offensively, he pretty much kept Meigs in the game the 2nd half. He was a threat shooting outside, but drove to the hole if they played him close. I know Ned will have those boys ready. Hampton hosting a sub-state game is the best atmosphere I ever played in, so I'm hoping that home court advantage makes the difference.
  11. That was only my 2nd time seeing Grace last night. You are right about answering runs. Windham was like a dagger. There were at least 2 or 3 times Meigs had momentum and was about to tie it up and Windham nailed a 3.
  12. Thanks again rulesman09. I haven't played HS ball in over 20 years now, so it's good to learn when it is different from college. I do find it interesting that in the first example with the block/charge call that the bucket would count, but in this example with it just being a charge, the bucket is waived. I agree with these other Hampton guys. It's not a job I'd want to do...usually ends up with unhappy people yelling at you from both sides.
  13. Thanks for the rule clarification. I think it's a bad rule, but it's good to know they were following it in that instance. There was another play where a charge was called against Grace and the contact was after the release, but they didn't count the basket. I know those are tough judgement calls to make sometimes. I will say that compared to the complaints I hear about lots of games, last night was pretty well officiated. They did a good job letting both teams play in the 1st half. They blew the whistle quite a bit more in the 2nd half, but that was as the intensity of the game went up and Meigs got more aggressive driving to the bucket, drawing some foul calls.
  14. My thoughts too, uknoit2. If one ref sees the defensive player move and calls it a block, I would think that would win over the charge call. In this case, the block would have favored Meigs and that's what I expected to happen. They huddled a couple times for about 2 minutes before going with the double foul call. It's a judgement call, but now they instruct refs to not make a decision. Crazy!
  15. Glad to help. That was really a good game to watch. Both teams played hard and clean and left it on the floor. That's what high school basketball is all about. If Meigs had made a few more of their free throws in the 2nd half and the ending might have went the other way.
  16. Stop #1 and # 41 and the Dogs should do it. #1 likes to handle the ball and drive, but can also shoot from 3.
