It is About the kids. I Promise you there are no kids complaining about a 2 hour bus ride to and from a game. The bus ride is some of their favorite memories. Just make the drive and watch some basketball and stop complaining. Or, stay home and don't watch. The kids are not complaining and it should be about the kids. while i am at it. Stop complaining about basketball being watered down by more classes. Basketball just is not as good as it was 8 years ago. but complaining about more classes doesn't make sense. Again, it is about the kids. with 4 classes you have a ton more kids getting a chance to go to the state tournament. who cares about whether or not they have the talent to be there. They get to go because they were the best in their region. enjoy it or don't enjoy it. Stop complaining and be happy for some kids that get to spend a long bus ride with their teammates with a chance to go to the state tournament. it is about the kids.

Preach. Kids just want to have a chance to play. They would go 4 hours away if it meant one more game, especially with a chance to go to state on the line. Adults are always interjecting their thoughts or hurt feelings and saying it's about someone else. Like he said, go or don't go and watch the stream but do not rain on someone else's parade because you are not happy with how something is not going your way.

  2. Per TSSAA website

    1. Division I Tournament Site - All region tournament games will be played at the higher seed. If two schools are the same seed, the district that was scheduled to host the region tournament will be considered the higher seeded team and will host that game (Due to it being an odd-numbered year, the odd-numbered district (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15) shall host the game.).

I think Cleveland will beat whomever they play handily at this point. Bradley has to get through White County first- and the refs. The refs in the UC are quite a bit more call happy than what we saw down in the 5 AAA area.

Refs will come from a different area of the state so it will not be anyone from either district.

THANK YOU. just asking, how much was those checks?

A MS doubleheader is $75, Varsity Doubleheader is $100. It is not alot considering the time away from family and driving to and from games that could be an hour or more away from your home. I am an official and I do not do it for the money. I do it because I love the game and love trying to help kids. I was one of the people who used to always complain about refs, so I figured if I want to complain I need to pick up a whistle and learn the rules. It is alot more to it than most people think.

Only reason UHS can make it to the finals is cause the McWillams make sure to have a ref that refs there games (against York) that teaches at Baxter.

If York lost up right to UHS that’s one thing. But when you know and can see a ref cheating that’s another.

I happen to know all 3 of the refs. Which one are referring to as a teacher at Baxter?

    Question.

I was told that there was a rule change regarding backcourt violations. This person said that a player can dribble the ball across half court. Then turn and pass the ball to somebody that hasn't made it across, but as long as the person that hasn't made it across yet catches the ball in the air and lands across the half court line, they are OK.

Originally, you had to have crossed half court before they could throw you the ball.

Help would be appreciated, especially if you are a ref.

I am an official and you were told wrong.

If the ball is deflected by a defensive player then the offense can be the first to touch it in the backcourt.

If a player that has not made it across catches the ball in the air and then lands in the frontcourt, it is a backcourt violation. The player is considered to be still in the backcourt until his/her feet establish in the frontcourt.

  7. DeKalb folks, I am confused about this. I was at the DC  - Van Buren game and they came out like a house of fire. Since then have not come close to putting up 80 pts let alone 100. Are they not playing as hard or was that game a fluke. I had already warned my Watertown folks about DeKalb and now I am not sure they will follow up on my words.

I have a question for H2O people when the next reclassification comes up will Watertown be a 3A school

Most likely they will be 3A. We are right there at it now and in 2 years, we will be bigger than we are now. We've got more people moving to Watertown every year, plus we accept people from other school zones who are willing to drive to the school.

Possibly the worst Refs I’ve ever seen. One of the Refs threatened to throw a flag on one of our players for clapping. Not in someone’s face or in a taunting manner, just clapping because one of his teammates made a good play. I’m seriously thinking about becoming a Ref. Just don’t know how I’d work it out with my job. But seriously, things need to change.

what time do you get off from work? They may be able to work out a schedule for you
