this is an easy question. Macon will run u to death and pressure u the whole game. Big wont last long

I agree. My point exactly about how they think it'll be so hard to guard her. I think Westview will have a great defensive plan, but I just want to know if they can score with the high scoring offenses at the tourney...

I have seen South Greene and Martin Westview play in person, and I will say that I think Westview is the better team. I'm not sure who from South Greene is going to be able to guard Westview's 6'2 big.... Westview has shooters, speed, and athleticism around her also. I don't think this is Westview's most talented team they've had over the years, but I think this is Westview's best chance in awhile to play in the championship game on Saturday.

Last I remember South Greene beat a 6'4" giant with the name of Kara Meadows a few years ago with the same girl that plays post for them now. If Johnson is so much of an issue, how is Macon going to beat them? Seriously curious?

Macon and DeKalb have to be on opposite brackets

So does South Greene and Grainger Co.

which almost Guarantees South Greene and Macon meet in the 1st round.

I have to agree. I'm looking for Macon and South Greene to be up against each other in a quarterfinal matchup. Macon seems to have a edge on everyone, but if anyone shows up under those lights, they're gonna have a great shot at that Class AA gold ball!

I remember two years ago you said that South Greene coming from a weak East TN wouldn't stand a chance against your district in the Class A state tournament. So I'm not sure you should take what is coming from him as gospel considering South Greene won back to back state championships. I agree with 'workinprogress' that in tournament time anything can happen and you should never count any team out if they are capable of making it that far.

    Ain't that the truth...

  6. I'm not from Pickett County, i'm from Jackson County. We've won 8 state championships, 7 since 2000 so i know a little about girls basketball in this state my friend. SG is a quality team and one that is a favorite to win it all again, outside of that no one has a shot to beat the teams out of District 7A. So don't confuse me with the fans of Pickett County, I'm pulling for them and Clarkrange to bring home both the gold and silver balls this year. The teams from District 7A have won 11 gold balls over the past 16 years and during that time they have 5 or 6 silver balls so we know a little about winning over here... :popcorneater:

Don't confuse the coacht "strength of schedule" because all you east tn teams play each other so your records look good on paper but unfortunately games aren't played or won on paper nor does winning a game at summer camp count. We'll find out soon enough :)

Oh ok most fans aren't usually on here when their season gets done. I've had a chance to come watch District 7A this year and the Clarkrange at Jackson County game was probably the slowest game I've ever been to. Schools like Morristown West, Knoxville Webb, South Greene, and Oak Ridge are always said to play weak schedule but find a way to compete and/win.

When you play in the weak eastern part of the state its not hard to look good. SG plays a cupcake schedule, full of cupcake teams outside of Morristown West (Who is about to get drilled by Riverdale), maybe Gatlinburg Pitman and Oak Ridge... You've played 36 games this year and you lost 4 times to the only teams on your schedule that could have a chance of beating Pickett County so i wouldn't hang my hat on how good you look against glorified middle school teams.. :popcorneater:

Pickett is the last person that needs to be talking about someone's schedule... if you've never ventured out past the message boards, there are quite a few teams at state with tougher schedules according to Coach T than Pickett. It's always funny to hear you guys talk big talk but go out in the first round the past two years.
  8. Taylor Lamb- junior, South Greene

    Kara Meadows- senior, Clarkrange

    Chelsea Perry- senior, Middleton

I know I'm probably saying the obvious but I look for Taylor Lamb to be back on the list this year. Even though she didn't win last year... as a sophomore... she proved she was the best player at the state tournament last year leading her team to a state championship and being the state MVP. She's a great player who can shoot from the high post at will and is very hard to stop down low.

Kara Meadows is having a great year after coming back after sitting out last year due to injury. The senior has committed to MTSU. Very very hard to stop in the post with her size. Not only that but if you leave her open outside she can drain a three if needed. She led her team to the state championship game her sophomore year but came home with silver.

Chelsea Perry is having a great season this year. She will be heading to play her colliegate career at UT-Martin. Perry wipes the boards clean on the defensive and offensive end of the court. She has taken on some big roles after helping lead her team to a state championship in 2015. She was also named the state MVP that year.

  9. With the misinformation being cleared up what are everyone's predictions for the 2016 season?

    These are mine.

    DI

    AAA

    Farragut vs. Brentwood

    AA

    Knox Catholic vs. Sullivan South

    A

    Concord Christian vs. Goodpasture

    DII

    AA

    Baylor vs. Briarcrest

    A

Webb vs. Really doesn't matter they're gonna lose

What's everyone thinking midsession now? Any other names coming up to challenge these picks?
  10. South Greene should consider themselves lucky that Gibson County upset Middleton in the semi's. Otherwise, we would be talking about a 3 peat for Middleton. Depending on the matchups in the quarters, I foresee MIddleton matching up with South Greene and Middleton bringing home their second gold ball in three years. South Greene has great basketball players, Middleton has great athletes and great basketball players! Mark it down and remember you heard it here first!

Next time you post on here do your research first, cause I'm pretty South Greene has made it to the state championship in volleyball the past 2 out of 3 years plus 7 trips to the state tournament in a row. There is only one girl on last year's roster that wasn't on the volleyball team. Ohhhh and South Greene softball made a substate appearance this year with basketball girls also... (Softball lost to eventual state champion)
  11. It is hard to repeat. They had a close one with Community. certainly they are the team to beat but they will be challenged.

If they play like they did all last year and stay healthy, they probably will be champs again. I'm curious to see how Middleton, Gibson, Pickett, and Clarkrange do this year against them if they meet
  12. I gotta say South Greene unanimously. #32 is tough! Middleton will depend on the guards around Perry. Right now i dont foresee any other teams from West Tn making it far but its real early.

Very curious of who is gonna knock SG off the top this year... I wouldn't count everyone out already though!
  13. I feel that Taylor Lamb is a perfect candidate for the Class A Miss Basketball award. Taylor is a 5'10' sophomore at South Greene High School. She led her team to a Final Four appearance in 2015 as a freshman. She was also selected to the all state and all tournament team that year. She now leads the No. 4 South Greene in her sophomore season. She is only 51 points from reaching 1000 and 37 rebounds from 500. She averages 16.3 points, 6.9 rebound, and 2 steals per game. Taylor Lamb is looking to lead her team to a 28th state tournament appearance and a 5th state championship.

  14. Taylor Boggess, no need to explain.

Kayla Marosites from Elizabethton. ETSU bound, AA Miss Basketball and all state for 2015. Crystal Dangerfield from Blackman. UConn bound, All American, and AAA Miss Basketball and all state for 2015. Taylor Lamb from South Greene. Only a sophomore, but was all tournament and all state as a freshman.
