I’m here, not a lot to say this week.
I still don’t know what to think about HC. As always a good team, just not sure how good.
Both loses were to very good teams.
I’m more impressed with the loss to Beech, than the win over Liberty.
As for my Cats, I really think they have a quality team this year, but… (I’ll just leave it at that)
Pilgrim,
Can you explain why CHS is rotating QBs every play? I think most know why, but always hate to assume. Don't see the benefit from doing that. I've been to 2 out of 4 games. Both games they have rotated in after every play.

This won't be close.....repeat of the last few years.

CA has made a good HC hire along with stealing their DC from NCS. Looks to be more excitement around the program than they have had in several years. Not sure they have the horses to compete right now but they are definitely moving in the right direction and investing in their program. Zion is one of the bottom 5 programs in DIIA so CA should win this one pretty easy.
I hear great things about the new staff. Haven't seen them play, but I know they have a few talented players and a good QB to build around. I'm not real familiar with their opponents. Hopefully new staff will get them headed in the right direction.

I believe CHS will struggle again. The region is a little easier now with Cenntennial, Brentwood, and Rossview gone, but I still think they will finish bottom three. I don't think they will be able to touch RV in season opener. CHS has a few really good athletes, but so does RV, NE, NW, and HC. Difference is coaching. After reading a few of these posts, it seems they have a discipline problem. Last thing a mediocre team needs.
The CHS coaching staff did a good job running off some decent players a few years ago. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the CA QB was supposed to go to CHS? Along with a few others. 1-9, 2-8, and this year, maybe 3-7?

Rossview will win by 4 scores, minimum. Hood has assembled one of the best staffs in the area. Not to mention the returning players. This one won't be close.

Here are Sonny Moore’s Computer Power Ratings
Start of the Season
Henry County - 5A: 8th TN: 47th
Northeast - 5A: 18th TN: 93rd
Dyer County - 5A: 32nd TN: 147th
Clarksville - 5A: 34th TN: 161st
Northwest - 5A: 37th TN: 183rd
Kenwood - 5A: 39th TN: 192nd
West Creek - 5A: 50th TN: 255th
I'd say Northwest and CHS need to be switched. Just my opinion

Does anyone have any insight into this years team, pre-season scrimmages, etc..?
They will be matched up well with West Creek and Kenwood. Northeast and Henry County? No way. Not sure about Dyer county. Even though Rossview is 6A now, they play week 1. That might get ugly. Of Course these are my thoughts and opinions. Probably not everyone's.

I know you didn't ask me, but I believe Rossview will score at will. Not losing many, and with a sound coaching staff, CHS will not be able to stop them. Nor will they be able to score much.
Yea, it could get ugly. RV didn't lose much including the entire offensive line. I don't see CHS keeping up at all in this one. RV with an upgraded the coaching staff will not be good for CHS either.

The Clarksville vs. Springfield game (Wk. 2) will be a pretty awesome atmosphere.
This is one of the oldest rivalries in the state and it will be the first game in Springfield’s brand new stadium.
Whats your thoughts on the Rossview/CHS game Pilgrim?

With all due respect, there is no way Clarksville high finishes 2nd in this region. Northeast and Northwest will mop the field with them. There are no guaranteed wins in this region for them.
Here are my random, bias, unsubstantiated pre-season predictions.
Henry County 7-3 Back to the top now that Centennial is Gone
Clarksville 7-3 They will rebound back to the top of Clarksville
Northeast 6-4 Tons of talent and new coach that should move forward
Northwest 5-5 Good team moving in the right direction, welcome back to 5A
Dyer County 5-5 Unknown, so I just put them right in the middle
West Creek 3-7 Should move forward under 2nd year coach
Kenwood 2-8 Lots of challenges, Lost their D1 RB and Coach
There is no way on the green earth CHS finishes second in that region. Obviously you seem like a big time supporter of them, but come on. I agree with Ole Wildcat. This coaching regime has tarnished this program.

If you go back about 3-4 pages on this thread, you will know not to believe all that you read. Coach speak or not.
Which part of the post are you referring to? I went back and looked, and nothing stood out or contradicted anything I said. Please, clarify.

I wonder if the Robinson kid will now go to Rossview?
I'm hearing Shawn Berner's name quite a bit. Not sure if it's true. Someone in this post said the QB has a close relationship with him. If he happens to be the next CA coach, I don't think QB will be going anywhere. But like Sheppy said, there are rules that do not permit just transferring.
-
If Hood leaves for Rossview, what's CA's plan? Promote from current staff? Someone new? Any CA people have any info?
-
Talent level here is low. They are on par with the rest of the tiny division schools. I expect CA to be in the 2nd tier of teams after NCS, MTCS and DA. They have very few, if any, players that can compete in higher divisions.
I'm not real familiar with the talent level on this team as a whole, but I do think there are a couple of kids on CA's team that could play in higher divisions. Longwell and Robinson could play and start for any team in the city. IMO
-
P Rice has big shoes for any one to fill. Good for Risner to have a role model and a good kid to follow and learn that WC system. We have a pretty dang good sophomore QB here at CA. Still makes mistakes, but he's one heck of a competitor. I think h will have a really good Jr/Senior season.
The Robinson kid is a good QB, and going to be a really good one. I have family at the school he left when he went to CA. I'm sure they're wishing he was still there, along with the other 5-6 kids that left and went to play for CA.
-
IMO, Clarksville schools have talent, but they're spread out over 8 schools. Then there's mediocre coaching and political agendas, as I'm sure most schools have.
-
Rossview is running the ball well right now, but I think they're gonna have to mix it up against HC and be more balanced. The RV QB will have to complete a few passes to keep them honest. HC ran up 444 yards of O last week. RV is a much better team than they played last week. Should be a good game.
-
With all due respect to the starting QB that's injured, this team is not a passing team. They are run dominant team. QB is a distributor in this offense.
-
HC 444 yards of offense
CHS -4 yards of offense
Speaks volumes
-
Had a family member that graduated from CHS last year. This football team has been a mess. Illegal recruiting, ineligible players, players leaving for other schools. How long will this administration be ok with all of this? Will not be pretty for the Wildcats tomorrow night.
-
Always a great game.
Clarksville owns the Series 9 to 4, and Coach Shelby will find a way to get it done again this year.
Go Cats!
Unless he's going to suit up, that's not happening. CHS does not match up with Rossview talent wise. Rossview's defense will blow up the Oline CHS has out there. I see this game being very reminiscent of the 2014 game which was never close.
-
I agree with Hawktime. All that's being stated is the obvious. CHS has not beaten a quality opponent, and got annihilated by Station Camp. How does that promote chaos?
Clarksville @ Northeast
in Class 5A & Class 6A

I don't believe CHS has enough offensive firepower to match points with Northeast and what Gus Antoine brings to the table. I know curiosity killed the cat, but what is the other question?? LOL
