Well I agree but may not be  too many hunting trips for awhile a lot work needs to be done. Field maintenance, weight room needs serious attention and the little league needs some guidance and some help the only feeder system you got

    be done

Speaking of the weight room, does a smaller school like CB have weight training periods built into the school day or do they have to lift before or after school?

  2. I know Sunbright has a low enrollment to begin with, which obviously means quality and experienced depth will always be an issue... especially with O and D linemen.  I think they run a single-wing type offense, which is exactly what you want to do to keep the clock running and make games "shorter".   However, you have to an OL than can at least get you 3 yards per play to do this.  If they can get you 3 to 3 1/2 yards per play, you keep scores low and even give yourself a chance to win... especially if the defense can at least make the opponent earn their TDs and, again, keep that clock running.

From the looks of their scores, they struggled with both.  I would imagine Sunbright's struggles begin with the very low enrollment.

A good strength and speed program + continuing to keep things simple and master their jobs can help as the kids mature.  But, it takes time and follow through... and that makes it tough in today's age of "I want it now".

One plus at Sunbright is I believe it is a K-12 school.  Get a "feeder" strength & speed program going in elementary and middle school and start developing those youngsters early on.  Get your younger teams running the same schemes, yet modified for their age, as the varsity team is running.  Lots of great benefits to working in a school where you can see and work with all the kids in the feeder levels each day.

Rooting for the Blue and Yellow Tigers.

Serious question: how in the world did they manage to beat Coalfield this season?

    And the winner is————————?

Bobby Lee Duke from the Richland Giants!

Says Duke, "Alice, we've grown real fond of the state title.  And we don't see any reason to give it up this year.  I've got most of my starters coming back and I've got a strong bench.  So I've only got one thing to say: Get off the tracks, 'cause the freight train's coming."

Coach Ray wasn't promised anything. But after the online interviews a board member made him feel like he was they guy that he wanted. Only to have that board member choose to reopen bids to keep looking. The school board wanted to keep looking only to have the Director of schools and Principle hire Coach Smith anyways. Seems all the online interviews and school board meeting about this was a total waste of everyone's time. Just like they had the rumor going around that 20+ people had put in for this job and they had to narrow the search down from there. When I have been told by a parent that only 3 people put in for the job.

So, I'm confused... did they hire a coach or have they completely re-opened the application process?  Place sounds rough....

  5. Thanks PP...we're not fortunate enough to have in school trainers nor class periods for workouts...We are going the extra mile to compete with the MC's of TN and I too believe we're on the right path.

No Weight Training classes during school? That's tough.

  6. thanks maj, the punishment is going to make it harder than it would of already been to find a coach and then for him to get kids out. Assuming they plan on fielding a team still, but it makes a lot more sense than punishing a different sport.

So maybe I missed something... is the Unaka Coach not coming back?
