That’s a problem every game for us(South Side) the officials. We practice defense & our girls play aggressive, and depending on where we are playing it’s a foul or not. Then the refs get us in foul trouble & we then lose off of free throws.   Then we just recently gotten bite by the injury bug, so we not as deep as we normally are. But that is basketball, so next man up well lady in this case lol. We learning come tournament time we should be firing on all cylinders. We lost 3-5 on season ending injuries, that was going to play a lot smh.

Officials call what they call and the kids must adjust there play accordingly. That is the way it is in every sport. If you don't adjust you getting holding or pass interference in football, you foul out in basketball, or you strike out in baseball. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO TEACH YOU ABOUT LIFE SKILLS AS WELL, YOU MUST OVER COME ALL OBSTICLES... ADJUST AND WIN OR BE STUBBORN AND LOSE...

  2. We may get to see Westview play Cumberland tomorrow at Hilton Head S.C. This would be a great test for both teams early in the season. They both must win today.... I think this neutral site game could give the rest of the state some insight on where theses teams will be in Feb/March... I like Westview by 6-10 if they get an opportunity to play.

It’s always been my understanding that most of the voters are in WEST Tennessee.

No sorry we Just bring back Gold Balls to West Tn... those are more important than individual trophies, after all football is a team sport... Congratulations to Trenton Peabody Golden tide, and Good Luck to The Haywood Tomcats

You’re wrong on Arlington... they return basically everything from last year.

Regardless, I saw Crockett the other day in the scrimmage, and their players haven’t gotten that much better since last year. Westview players have gotten better, and will win District 13-AA and go to state again this year.

It will be fun to watch Southside vs Westview. Still think Westview has better scoring than anyone in the region. They will be had to beat if they stay away from injuries...

  5. Watched Westview in a play day at UTM. They can shoot the ball outside with anyone, pressure the ball really well , the only weakness is inside and that's not terrible . The big girl can play but she is not Graves. They will be a contender to go to state if everyone stays healthy. I think it will come down to them and Crockett in the district.

  6. This is what is wrong with the whole country. People rules are in place everywhere. OBEY THE RULES!!! So what that you don't like them. At you work place (if you work) then there are rules you must abide by, Kids are no different teach them to abide by the rules. Teach them to respect the officials and just play them game. Coaches size your players as best you can and try to get smaller shorts whenever possible.

If you don't like the rules stop WHINING and go through the proper channels and procedures to change them. Until then OBEY Them or face the consequences.

  7. I don't believe Huntingdon can get past Summertown or Loretto. Union city has made some people sit up and take notice. But once again Loretto is the one to beat in single A. Union city has a solid 9 players that field very well. They have 5-6 pitchers that will not over power you but usually have very good location. I hope all theses kids stays healthy down the stretch. I think a match up between Union City and Loretto would be a fun game to watch.

    OldSportsGuy where you at?...

    Northside over Scott’s Hill

    Riverside over Adamsville

    Southside best Lexington

    McNairy over Chester

Sothside and McNairy are 4-0, Northside 3-1, Chester and Lexington 2-2, Riverside 1-3, and Scott’s Hill and Adamsville 0-4.

Northside, Riverside, Southside, McNairy.... Upset alert maybe Lexington over Southside.... but probably not..lol

Championships are won with defense, not breaking the clock.  Golden State can score but what they really do well is play great team defense.

Southside can get in your face and get stops.  Can Obion do that, I don't think so.  Dyersburg or Crocket will win 13AA because they can score but they also know how to play defense

at the end of the season Bkbfan4ever we will hold you to that statement... Maybe you wont have to eat too much Crow.... But then again you did pick 2 out of 6 teams to win the district.... so your chances are pretty good..

Scotts Hill at McNairy - I have McNairy

Chester county at Southside - I have Southside

Lexington at Riverside - I have Lexington but I'm not real confident

Northside at Adamsville - I have Northside

Lexington Riverside probably the best game tonight.

Waiting on District 13AA to start District play

I have McNairy, Southside, Riverside at home, Northside. 13AA starts in Jan. Obion has rematch tomorrow with Trenton at OC.

That’s funny, Southside not being able to keep pace with Obion. That’s what Southside do is run, SS will put more athletes on the court that can actually play. SS will be Region and District Champs, but they will lose in Substate against any Region 8 team

I think a match up between SS and Obion would be fun to watch. I truly believe that Dyersburg , Crockett , or Obion could beat SS at their home place, but the only time they will face each other would be in McNairy. So until proven other wise SS may be the favorite right now. SS is kinda young and they may provide a little inconsistence for them, but they are athletic and are gonna get after you. Obion can shoot the 3 and as seen early in the season. They will trade you a lay up to get a 3 all day long... But living and dying from 3 point land is a double edge sword. Still think its early, but things will start to shake out in the next 3-4 weeks...

    Yikes...

McNairy upsets Lexington in Lexington 52-51. Anybody see this game?

    SS hammers Scotts Hill

    Chester county Hammers Adamsville

    Northside by 1 over Riversdie.

    What is happening in Lexington?

Wow Lexington is very inconsistent right now!!! I cant believe McNairy upset them. Oldsportsguy oyu were close on the Nothside game.

  13. There is no one group getting all the gigs. I started Umpiring High School Baseball last year , and trust me there are more than enough games to go around. I feel the reason you see the same ones is because they are the only ones signing up. It is the responsibility of the official to get the training needed to be good. TSSAA has clinics but you have to be responsible enough to attend. So with the shortage they still have to allow these not attending to officiate. And I have tried to get people to sign up to officiate, but they say the same thing " THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MONEY TO GET ME ON THAT COURT AND TAKE THAT ABUSE."

  14. Solution start the younger, less experience refs in JR high and JV, but you have to help them understand the importance in getting the call right. EVERYONE makes mistakes just learn from them. I witnessed a game last night that the officials were to old to get up and down the court and were out of position to make several calls. The final score was 105-109. Areas need to scout these teams and put officials in games they can call. I am blaming area coordinators on these issues. But once again we need more people to sign up and help. I personally referee Peewee basketball on Sat. And in 2 years I plan on joining the TSSAA officials but until my son finishes High School I will be in the stands. WE NEED MORE 20-30 YEAR OLDS HELPING OFFICIATE. and that's the real solution.

  15. There are so many people out there that sit around and grip about officials. It is a hard job. They have to make a judgment call in about 1/2 a second. I haven't seen any malicious intent ever in a game with an official. Now I do believe they are human and can hold grudges against certain coaches, but I really think the have the best interest for the kids. At least I want to believe this.

The local officiating body in your area needs to put a veteran official with rookies to teach them the ins and outs. The training officials need are supposed to be gotten during summer practices and scrimmages. If there is a problem bigchief is right to much gripping and not enough helping. So if you want to help grab a whistle or find a young man and encourage him to help theses officials out. STOP HAMMERING THE ONES WE HAVE!!!

  16. I gave Obion a slight edge for the Tournament only...  And that's because of the home court, which we all know in High School means a lot. I think any of the top 4 could win the regular season. I think that height will cause Obion trouble. But I also believe 5 guards on the court can cause other teams problems as well. It will be very interesting to see who can impose their will on the other one in these district games. Long season ahead just gonna be a fun time to watch. But if we knew exactly how this will turn out we would not be on here we would be in Vegas making millions...:D:D

I have seen SS and Chester. Chester is better than the past couple years. They have a guy that can flat out shoot

But 1 guy will not beat theses good teams he must have help.  Are any of these teams very tall like anything over 6'5?  Lexington has kids about 6'4 and under. If they are all equal in height then the advantage will be athletic ability and until proven different that goes to Southside
