I know I hate that rain is in the forecast because I know that will keep people away. I'm sure DC is going to bring a very nice crowd. This is going to be their championship game meaning they know they have struggled against Henry County and their mindset is giving it 110% and leave it all on the field. They are confident. I believe on their Twitter page they said they haven't been in the 3rd round of the playoffs since 1976. They will throw all their chips in on this game!

There was a huge crowd that came down to Southwind so I expect it to even be more since Henry County is a little closer.

Jesus you 2 are both acting like clowns. These are high school kids we are talking about here! I get yal are both passionate about the game but don’t take away from the sportsmanship from these kids.... Henry county has every right to feel the way they do because they have won. Dyer county hasn’t beaten Henry county until we do we are the underdogs. Let the talking be done on the field. I bleed orange for my state and my high school.  I’m definitely hoping Dyer county pulls this one out and keeps playing

Couldn't have said it any better! Despite the score Friday night I have nothing but respect for Henry County's football program and what they've done over the years. Of course I would love to see Dyer County get the win because it's been a long time coming for the football program. Even if the season comes to an end for DC Friday night I couldn't be any prouder for what they have accomplished this year. Go Choctaws!

Sounds like be great game then. Thinking DC will be a surprise too.

I have seen both teams. Dyer County has more depth and can play the bench if needed. Not saying Bolivar will not be good because they do have a really strong team but I see the Choctaws winning it.

  4. Dyer County will bolt another strong team this year and will be even better than last year. They are returning ever player from last season except one. Not saying they will finish 1st in the region but will be a contender no doubt. They went undefeated in the 13AAA district (8-0) last year with an all sophomore and junior squad and 23-6 overall record. Should be an interesting year for the Choctaws.

  5. Sounding/reading like Haywood is taking the "be disciplined and out-athlete the other team" appraoch.

So Lexington/Dyer Co. are playing for the de facto 4th playoff spot Friday night.

Assuming all other games other than this one go as expected -

Lexington wins and I think final standings would be

    1. Haywood

    2. Lexington (overall record then beat NS)

    3. Northside (overall record then lost to Lexington)

    4. Hardin Co. (worsr overall record)

    If Dyer Co wins -

    1. Haywood

    2. Northside (beat Hardin Co.)

    3. Hardin Co

    4. Dyer Co.

Considering the Top 2 from Region 8 in-state losses have come from 2 6A and a Super 7 team with a combined record of 24-0, I'd say it would behoove teams to not have to play them in the first round. My guess is Ridgeway wins Region 8 and East comes in #2.

Dyer County has really good chance on winning Friday night. The quarterback got hurt Friday night and broke a couple of ribs. That's the only downfall! Dyer County will have a big crowd and student section traveling like always.

  6. Dyer County High School names David Whittle the new head football coach to the lead Choctaws. Whittle has been head coach for the Northview Middle school as long as its been open and has a middle school football state tittle and has been to the playoffs serval times. I think Whittle is good for the job because he has coached a lot of the guys.

  7. I agree, way to early and a 4 pt lead was not enough to start holding the ball. Cost DC in the end. Thanks for the well wishes!

Being a fan of Dyer County i agree that wasn't a smart move what so every. I think that cost us the game. They didn't play too well first half. Big second half though. Oak Ridge play a good game and put up a fight.

  8. I just finished reading many stategazette.com articles on Dyer County. I came away very impressed with this experienced team. This is their first ever trip to State while Oak Ridge has been there many times, however none of the current Lady Wildcats have made the trip to Murfreesboro.

First thing that worries me  is their experience. They also seem to have several players who can hit threes. Oak Ridge did not hit a three Saturday against Kingsport. Finally, they also like to go inside for easy layups.

All in all, I would make Dyer County the favorite but I like Oak Ridge's chance to pull the upset. I am looking forward to seeing what Coach Green does to ready the young Lady Wildcats for this challenge.

RLWR ( Roll Lady Wildcats Roll!)

Hopefully it will be a good game. I feel we ended up in the easier bracket (I'm not complaining  lol) Not to have Riverdale or Memphis central in it was a big thing.

  9. DC is more of who i think will be stronger going in this game. I feel like they've played against some better teams like Memphis schools teams. They will have a crowd for sure. The Lady Choctaws eat off that. It should be a good classic matchup and the game isn't over until its over, we've learned that recently.
