Senior guard, Braelyn Wykle from South Greene should definitely be in consideration. She has been a key player since her Freshman year for the Rebels. She missed the first half of her Junior year due to injury and was not 100% during the remainder of the season. She has came out this year on fire. She is always fun to watch.
100% agree. 2 state championships under her belt as a Freshman and a Sophomore. Down some of her junior year but came back scoring 30+ ever since then on any given night. Very deserving young lady with one of the best attitudes and has worked very hard.

Really hoping Pickett County wins it this year. The past two years they have had bad draws and had to play South Greene first round both times. They played us two great games and they were in my opinion the 2nd best team in the state both of those years but didn't get out of the first round Bc of the blind draw.

South Greene put on a show tonight from behind the arc in the District 2 AA Championship game. 7/8 from 3 in just the opening quarter. Ended up with at least 10 3's and the bench played most of the 4th quarter. Defeated Chuckey-Doak 69-29 in the championship game. The Wykle sisters were each 4/5 from behind the arc.
District 2 POY:Taylor Lamb
All conference: B. Wykle, Franklin, Williams,
Tournament MVP: Braelyn Wykle
All tournament: K. Wykle, Williams, Lamb, Franklin

I was at the game, I saw the foul. Didn't see any kind of scuffle. Didn't hear anybody yelling. Nothing to warrant an intentional foul. If the player said something to levy, it was very subtle.
So, you're saying she thinks that a player believing she can win against other players, is worse than one breaking a tssaa rule? Do you believe there has ever been a miss basketball or mr basketball who believed that they couldn't win when they played?
That's just the way I took it. Not sure if that's what she meant by it though.

I've been trying to make sense of this statement. You're saying the girl from York was teed up because she said she could take levy? Because there is nothing in the newspaper about that game. And that newspaper came out the day before the game. If anybody else knows what she's taking about, let us all know
The way that I took it was she was saying "yeah the foul is in the second quarter is what won the game for upperman" very sarcastically. Saying that that call wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game. Then I think she was saying that she would rather Levy high five an official than to say remarks like "I can take the other nominees if I played them." Which I believe she is referring to that because that is what Cumberland's player said in an interview in the newspaper about being a Miss Basketball Finalist. Think she was talking about two different things I think.

Outside of the teams I mentioned no one else will win a game at the tournament. I’ve been around a long time you can take what I say as gospel. Check back with me after the tournament.
I remember two years ago you said that South Greene coming from a weak East TN wouldn't stand a chance against your district in the Class A state tournament. So I'm not sure you should take what is coming from him as gospel considering South Greene won back to back state championships. I agree with 'workinprogress' that in tournament time anything can happen and you should never count any team out if they are capable of making it that far.

As far as tough schedules go, South Greene has played four games with opponents ranked in AAA. Beat #6 AAA Dobyns-Bennett. Lost to #4 Morristown West twice by 2 points each time. And lost to #2 Bradley Central by 8 after SG was leading as much as 23-5 in the second quarter & Taylor Lamb had 32 points and 15 rebounds. They haven't had the chance to play any ranked AA teams but have shown that they can compete with AAA teams with no problem. They do play many teams in their District and Region who do not have a good winning percentage and that's probably why they aren't ranked very high on CoachT's schedule strength rankings.

Cumberland county plays a pressure defense, lots of presses, and scores a lot on turnovers. when you can't play defense for cheap whistles and your opponent can hold a players jersey from inbound pass to front court, you can not establish a rythem. They won't put this one online, unless it's heavily edited.

I've never seen a coach, any coach, ever leave all starters in a game to beat somebody by 80. Tell us who that coach is also.
I never said they pull the starters to keep them from having better stats. I said they pull the starters to give the other players more experience and to show some respect for the other team by not beating them by 80. And as far as you saying you've never met a coach to leave all starters in while beating a team by 80? I guess you've changed your story now. Because you're the one who said it was okay to leave the starter in the whole time because they worked for it lol.

So you think there should be no awards or honors? No goal to strive for? No bar to reach? Not keep score and no winners or losers? Just tell them they're all equal? Is that your idea of a competitive sport?
You love putting words in people's mouths. Never said any of that nor implied it. Just gonna guess you're the type of person who would leave all the starters in the whole game even if the score was 110-30. I know there are coaches who would do that. But those who have any class at all would let players on the bench have playing time in that scenario instead of giving certain players 40 points. It's a whole different story when the two teams are close and a player scores over 30 points.

So, if you or your child were playing, you would ask to be taken out of the game, or tell the coach to take your child out of the game? I've been a part of, or around the game for close to 50 years, and I've never seen a real competitor ask to be taken out of a game. So, if you were ever a real player, I don't believe you. There are very few teams at any level who pulls all their starters when they have a large lead. Give us the names of the teams who pull all their starters when they're ahead by 20
First off, I never knew it was the player's decision on when to be put in the game and when to be taken out of the game. If a team is well on their the way to beating another team by a score of 90-30, why would the coach not take out the starter when they aren't needed and give the younger players some experience? It'd be crazy not to. Also not sure a coach would want to risk a player getting injured in a game where they don't need them as much just so they can get their stats up. So I guess my detention of a "real competitor" is someone who wants best for their team as a whole and not just for theirselves.

In the last 30 years there have been a number of players on the top teams in the Upper Cumberland region that have averaged 20-25 ppg. Could they have averaged 30 a game? In some cases i believe there have been a handful that could of IF it had been important to the coach. Great coaches respect the game! What message are you sending when it's 84-36 and your best player is still in the game with 6 minutes to go in the 4th? Does the score of the game matter or is it the players point total? What can a coach be thinking ? If your best player is in the game when you are leading by 25 or more then the leader of the team has an agenda. Humility and sportsmanship should be a given. Show some class! Respect the game and your opponent.
Couldn't agree more. I know of many players who have the ability to score over 30 every night but yet when the teams are above by 20+ the bench gets to play. Putting the team before a single player's stats is more beneficial in the long run and will make the bench stronger. Pays off in the long run for sure.

Ran across this yesterday on Twitter and was very impressed with Taylor Lamb's accomplishments. What makes this most impressing is Lamb is surrounded by other players like Wykle and Williams who also have over 1000 pts.

Question?
How good are the teams Upperman are beating? What's the win-loss record of their opponents?
Warren County 11-11
Dekalb County 8-14
Cannon County 11-9
Watertown 5-19
South Pittsburg 12-8
Bledsoe County 15-8
These were the records posted on Coach T

AA- Taylor Lamb(South Greene),Akira Levy(Upperman)
Akira Levy won in AA last year so she will get nominated again. I think 2 time finalist/ 2 time Tournament MVP/State Champ stepping up from Single A deserves to be nominated her last year.
AAA- Rhyne Howard(BC), Brinae Alexander(Riverdale), Jayla Hemingway (Houston)
All three are great nominees and deserve to be recognized.
