Then you all should be able to handle us pretty easy then.Especially at your place.I would we are at least a 14 point underdog this week.I didnt know you were missing your best players and beat Midway.I had heard Midway was missing multiple kids.Sounds like you all may get that home game and we will hit the road to Roan Mtn.
I wouldn’t say that still banged up pretty good from the Harriman game. Have to limit turnovers and penalties to have a chance. Plus midway has improved every game of the season they are a well coached football team

Midway had a few out during the Oakdale game also.
Oakdale had their Best Rb/LB out and also their best offensive lineman out also. midway had 1 lineman out that game.

The ejection happened in the 3rd quarter when score was already 14-7 Oakdale. This Oakdale team is very improved many of these kids started as underclassmen and were a very good middle school a few years ago. Oakdale was without a few kids I heard 2 of those being start their starting rb/lb and starting LT. I think they could surprise some people this year. Midway is still a good football team and should still make the playoffs.

Gb by 42, they take it easy on the Rangers so they'll come back in the future.
Probably throw it every down except one like they did last week against Oakdale. I heard they were running hurry up the last minute taking shots at the end zone when they could have just taken a knee.

So the father was not a certified teacher at MJ, but the kids can go to the school and live out of zone? Not blaming the dad, I would take advantage of whatever the powers that be in Wilson Co. let me get away with all in the name of winning a few more football or basketball games. My question would be does the janitor get the same privileges? Does the lunch lady? No. Yes I get it that Wilson Co. is open zoning but only if the school is below capacity which MJ is not. And you have to at least live in the county, remember it is our property taxes that pay for a big chunk of schools. It is amazing how many kids Mj has gotten in their school in the past few years that do not live in their zone, and all of them are athletes. No band kids, no FFA kids, If you call MJ and tell them you have a kid in the Walter J. Baird middle school band who wants to play in MJ band but you live in Lebanon zone they tell you that you have to move, but if you have a kid who is a good basketball (girls and boys), football, or baseball/softball player they suddenly have room for you. I get it that a good athletic program is good for the overall health of a school, but what about those kids who have worked their way through middle school and played jv and now as a junior or senior you are getting replaced by some kid who does not even live in your school zone? Something is wrong about that, we are putting way too much emphasis on sports and it has gotten out of hand. This is an extracurricular activity we are talking about.
Most of the school funding comes from the state. Minimum of 7300 per student even if they are out of district. So actually it benefits the budget of that school district.

This is what Jimmy Friend was talking about. Nice to see that Midway still teaches this...
cut blocks are still legal. talk to nfhs about changing the rule.

Oakdale must have some decent talent coming up they defeated coalfield in the second round of the middle school playoffs.

Maybe they can co-op with one of the other nearby schools. They’re small so even if they counted Oakdalw enrollment it may not cause a jump to 2A.
co ops do not add to your enrollment. look at pearl cohn they co op with mlk who has over 800 students.

I have heard that the guys that want to play football will have to play for Macon sometime in the near future.
you have to shut down the sport for 4 years to be able to co op with another school.

Does anybody know if the Qb will be back this week? We are pretty much one dementional without him and McKinney is better off at wideout were he has always played.
Qb Byrd out for year. Knee injury was really bad. Heard rumor it may end his football career. If #34 is back he will be qb. Has been the back up for several years and played there some in the preseason scrimmages.

I understand but it needs to happen.20 players going both ways kids are going to get hurt.Shouldn't field a team that small because if this, and its pains me to say that because i dont want to lose our small town ball.
Tssaa should give hardships co op. I’m fearful this could start happening a little more often. With parents scared of concussion and other injuries, video games and other hobbies, specialization in a single sport and lower enrollment numbers. I had heard oakdale is down around 140

I was just thinking sbout that on my way home.Yes it stinks for them more than us for sure. The kids safety is whats most important after all.TSSAA needs to let teams with less than 20 players coop with the next closest school and stop this stuff. It doesnt help either side.
Tssaa requires 4 years without that sport to be eligible to co op.

I'm talking about 2 weeks without a game heading to playoffs....meant no disrespect to oakdale....2 weeks is a long stretch without a game to start the playoffs....tssaa should give unakas spot to someone for the 1st round
I completely agree. They should give it to the 5 seed from region 2. Which I guess would be Harriman.

I guess I really just no good answer for this it just really stinks for our kids to miss two games there senior year.
And it doesn’t stink for the seniors at oakdale. Missing their last 3 games. Or the ones that had their seasons ended due to injuries.

This is garbage....tssaa needs to do something
What u want them to do show up with 11 players that would be a good game. Tssaa can’t mend an ACL, collarbone or shoulder.

Coalfield played some good D tonight. The kids came out and played hard tonight. The Qb may make it back soon but it looks like the Jones kid will be out a while.
I was told by legitimate source he has torn multiple ligaments in his knee and At earliest he would be available is baseball season will miss all of football and basketball.

That would be something!
coalfield down starting qb, #34 rb/qb, and #54 their best lineman. this midway team is better than alot of people think. they will be very disciplined against coalfields option attack. especially with coalfield playing their 3rd qb.
-
Midway by 21. Coalfield has to many injuries.
-
played a lot last year leading rusher in state championship game. got passed up on the depth chart by underclassmen.

Such is life. There used to be only three classes in football, period.
It's this kind of sentiment that has three classes in Division II when there is fewer than 49 schools, which about average number of schools in each class in Division I. Or perhaps Division I should have about 18 classes to make it the same ratio as Division II
That was also before a lot of schools districts started consolidating into bigger schools. 6 classes seems to work well. Seems like u larger schools just want to play teams smaller than u.

How are u going to align regions have some with 8 -10 teams some with 7. That will destroy out of region games. Or go to 16 districts like basketball.
-
4 classes would kill some of these single a teams whose enrollment is around 160 that would make single a cutoff around 500. 500 vs 160 is a huge difference. 4 classes sounds really good to you guys with 1500+ enrollment.
-
The most likely combination would be combining oakdale and coalfield and putting it in bitter creek. With current enrollment number they would still be single A.
Greenback at Oakdale. For third and fourth place in region 2.
in Class 1A & Class 2A

The QB played in every game except the Rockwood game.
