  1. Tell your relative to call Greg Scott and ask. If you tell me he called and asked, I’ll digress. The fact that he knows nothing about  it right now doesn’t mean anything. School boards do not hire teachers and/or coaches. They don’t always know things. But if they call and ask, they’ll get answers. If you do this I’ll take your word for it, but I’m telling you it’s true.

  2. Only you can keep people from making fun of me for this so I trust you’ll look into the validity of this post. My “source” was not actually a committee member but a close friend of Greg Scott. If you look back, I tried to defend the administration for taking time with this hire. Reason being...Greg Scott called Hugh Freeze in December and offered him the job. Freeze was “intrigued” and I was actually thinking there was a chance it’d happen. The Woods stuff was being said and he was on to something MUCH bigger. I never let that out because I know it’s crazy. He took some big swings and settled for Teddy. I think Teddy will do just fine. You have my word...the Freeze offer was legit.

  3. North Panola guy was not a well kept secret because he is from Jackson. Ward was in the paper. There was a third guy. Again, I’ll tell you but you have to make a few calls and verify this before you laugh me off the page. BCsportsfan has me on the verge of calling my therapist. I can’t take much more. So when I drop the name, are there people you know that you can call? If not, I’m not dropping it cause everyone will make fun of me. I want your word that you’ll attempt to verify. The name is far bigger than Ricky Woods...

  4. Ok, truce. When I posted about my gut, I learned Thursday night that Teddy was the man.  The whole Ricky Woods thing... Do you know who was actually offered the job? When I tell you, you will laugh. Before you laugh, I want you to make a few phone calls to see if I’m lying... Do you know who I’m talking about?

  5. I’m not looking to “fix” anything and I’m not unhappy at all. I am just explaining why this process is not as cut and dry as people think it is. The inaccurate information posted on this site only adds to the confusion. I don’t disagree with anything you said Trader. You’re right. Paying a coach 75 to only coach is crazy to a lot of people and it doesn’t happen in West Tennessee. That’s my point. If Milan did it, they’d have the big hire already. But they do not do that. So now go find an established coach that will sell his house, buy a new house, and move to Milan for similar financial compensation. Would you do that in your job? And ask your wife and kids to move? And the only reason to do all of this is because you can win 9 games instead of 7...Milan, McConnel had his 2nd interview. It appears he will be offered the job. However, I hesitate to say that. If they thought he was the guy, he would’ve been offered the job by now.

  6. The school board met to approve money to be spent on hiring a coach outside the district. The money approved was for a teacher of 20 years with a bachelor degree plus the 10,500 supplement. The board met before Ward was offered the job. After board approval for the money, Ward was offered the standard teacher salary based on MSSD pay scale plus the aforementioned supplement. My point is this...Milan faithful want a homerun hire. It’s not going to happen because they offer less than these “homerun” type guys are making. If they could pay more, or offer a job with no teaching, or they had great benefits, they would have made a hire by now. Coaches are not going to leave their current job for a lateral move financially, work load, or similar benefits.

  7. I was attempting to pass along information but people kept posting rumors and wasting everyone’s time. It’s been nearly 2 weeks since the fake news about Ricky Woods broke. Here’s why Milan has not hired anyone...

    1. Stipend is $10,500. That’s about average for an average job. Way lower than jobs as high profile as Milan. They won’t find an established coach to do it. Like Ward, they’re finding out it’s a pay cut.

    2. They will be teaching a full load. Again, many established head coaches who hold jobs as high profile as Milan do not teach.

    3. School board. That’s it. Their school board. Way too invasive with the daily operations of the school. Their school board meetings could be a reality tv show.

  8. Nice of you to take the moral high road in such a tumultuous conversation we were having. I read a lot on here but rarely post. I always enjoy insight from other fan bases. I wasn't trying to be rude. I just know Woods is not a candidate and my source is from a committee member. I checked again upon reading your post and he confirmed what he told me earlier. That's when I learned of North Panola coach, hence your confusion. Blessings to you as well, brother.

  9. I appreciate you not giving insults. Not sure why there'd be a reason to do so. Through some phone calls, I've learned why you're mistaken. The head coach from North Panola (not South Panola) was a popular candidate among the committee members. He has pulled his name from the hat. Again, I promise you are mistaken on Ricky Woods. Only Greg Scott knows who the next coach will be, but I can tell you who it WILL NOT be...Ricky Woods did not apply.

  10. BPM, none of your info is accurate. Do you know the 4 people who were on the committee? Woods did not apply, did not interview, and has not been offered the job. I'm tight with a member from the committee. Your information about salary for the head coach, how many years Woods was at Peabody and Starkville, and the "list of top 5" is simply not true. I have no idea who will be offered except I know Swenson did not interview. Neither did Woods.

Ward would have to deal with Haywood each year and he knows that. However, Crockett is still a good job where going to Milan, may not make it that much better. Swenson, he is in the perfect situation where he is at. Bowling, he is getting everything he wants. But it’s up to him if he wants to move to Milan or not. I know one guy that should be considered, he is just down the highway. Just down the highway.

Which coach "down the highway" are you talking about? People in Milan say they want the offense opened up. Swenson and Bowling are the exact opposite of that. Great coaches and I hope Swenson stays forever.

Dude we didn't throw to him at all in our 2 loses, matter of fact UC nor Rebs can defend the pass,we have a young but solid QB and 2 grade A receivers Cliff Jr is a beast! No excuses but when you loose because you play a 1 dimensional game as deep as we are it makes you scratch your nogin!!!

Peabody seems like a tough place to coach. A 7-2 team with 7 point loss to Union City and a 2 point loss to a senior loaded McKenzie team that lost to Union City by 2 Friday night. 10 years ago you guys were a joke. Now you're Alabama and supposed to go undefeated every year? I remember Peabody being automatic win for us every year. I always laugh at Peabody posters. You're not Milan, Huntington, Lexington, etc. Quit acting like you're too good to be 7-2 when your best players are sophomores.
