  1. Just a thought or 2:

    1. Parking is a “suggested” $4 (not at all required) NEVER $8. Proceeds to track and golf (2 underfunded minor sports) When at Bradley, simply keep your window up, wave and keep driving. You will not be stopped.

    2. I’m not sure girls wrestling is anything to brag about? Hardly ANY girls actually compete, (big fish in a small pond) not really a relevant discussion on this board. Pretty sure I would not allow my daughter to wrestle, but that’s just me. Cleveland HS has much greater achievements to be known for than girls wrestling.

    3. The reference of Brentwood Academy vs ALL Bradley Co. Schools combined:

Not hating on the privates, they are terrific programs, but I think there are only 23?? total schools in that Private Div. 1 category? Much different that the public classes (6 in football) and (only 4 in other sports) Much more difficult to win a title with 2x’,  3x’s, 4x’s more schools competing statewide. Baylor and McCallie will be a brawl. Congrats to both programs. Middle TN has incredible private programs that we all have the utmost respect for as well. Public, Private, Home school families all make a choice based on what is best for their kids. Respect for all categories and any Championship is note-worthy.

    4. No one knows the future. NEVER discount Maryville’s ability to return to the top. The Rebels have a great program. Bearden will be VERY strong. Our Bears will be back in the Mix competing for the top spot. Cleveland will be getting better under their new Coach. I predict a much more balanced season next year in East TN.

    5. Stop all the recruiting talk. ALL programs are accused, none have been convicted. Until TSSAA penalizes one of our schools, it would seem they are all following the rules.

    6. All schools with thriving programs have “wealthy businessmen” - All have supportive Booster Clubs. All have the ability to “boost” Coaches with bonuses, new trucks, etc. May the best program win the best Coaches. Step up for your school if you like your Coach.

2023 played out just like it should without any upsets. Bradley, Bearden and Maryville are all really good teams. None can go toe to toe with Oakland for 4 quarters this year. Congrats to the Pats.

  2. 1. Great season for the Bears! Proud of our team and Coach Floyd. Proud of the 3rd quarter fighting back to tie it up.

    2. Oakland is a machine and Coach Creasy is incredible. By far the best team I’ve seen in years. #17’s TD off his juggling almost fumble was a dagger…. And the 4th and 9 conversion when BC had them in the backfield clinched it.

    3. Great atmosphere…. I was there and was not offended by the Oakland Fans cheering on their team (part of the game and not immature)

    4. Both teams talk to much trash but that is sports society today.

    5. There is no such thing as a good official so give those guys that called tonight a break.

  3. Bradley Central is a great story. The Bears have had a great season. No true BC fan is over-confident or cocky. Oakland is a proven Champion and BC fans, Coaches and our team has the utmost respect for the Patriots. We are proud of our guys and pulling for #12 to be healthy to give our team the best opportunity to win. The Bears will play hard and I believe it will be a very competitive game. I agree with another poster who mentioned some of the others guys…(the non- DI talents) those guys (both teams) work extremely hard and don’t get any press, but both Coaching staffs and fan bases realize the great value they provide to their respective teams. Much respect for the jobs these 2 teams and Coaches have done to make this game a reality.. this conversation (BC vs. Oakland) has been ongoing since the first poll came out in week 1.

Just heard on radio that Jacobi Wood has a ankle injury & probably won’t play tonight.
In the grand scheme, that is probably the best decision. District game mean nothing & they are much better than all of District 5 & 6, if he is able to play in Regions.

I heard that too. Sounds like they didn’t need him tonight.

On Twitter, it was posted that all 5 Bradley Central Bearettes starters made all-district. I would have added a few of their Cheerleaders.

Kudos to the Coaches in 5AAA. it’s great that you guys did the right thing by finally recognizing the Coach and the Players that truly DESERVE this. Good luck to all!

Bradley boys are getting better as the year progresses! First five are good but they are not very deep on the bench! Watched them play at East Hamilton and they looked good

Bears are improving. CHS is still better but maybe the Bears can close the gap by tourney time. CHS plays harder.

To me this is the best game in the area this week.  Questions for game for both teams.  Can Bradley avoid slow start?  Will weather affect Bradley passing game?  Will McMinn be able to dominate the run game and control the clock with the lead.  Sounds to me that a lot is pending of McMinn secondary.  Should be a good one.

You have asked all of the right questions.
BC will have success throwing and running the ball. McMinn will have success running the ball also and be able to score. I look for the Kees to open things up and try some gadgets even throwing the ball more than expected. The difference and final question is how will the Bears start? IMO the Bears start better this week and pull away in the second half. If BC wins the toss take the ball first and score first.

The Bears are strong on offense this year. Points will come.

This game will be determined by their Defense.

Bears gave up 28 in the 1st half. Raiders made it look easy. Defense tightened up in the 2nd half and held them to 7 points late.

Offensively the Bears can score. Need to run the ball more. Especially the QB.

Raiders appear to have found the right guy after the Previous Coach was unsuccessful. Excellent game plan for CHS. Flowers kid is terrific and Boyd ran wild all night. McGowan is a threat and the X factor.

Refs are rarely good but did not decide the game last night.

Burke is special and McCleary is steady. Need more out of #12. Turning point was Clark’s TD Catch. Strong play.

Congrats to both teams and it’s good to see the Raiders back on track. Football in this area is always more interesting when these 2 teams are competitive.

Good luck to the boys in blue and my guys in Black.

  10. Over half a century attending games and supporting the Bears. I'll take this 10 win season and support every player and coach involved tonight. I for one do not agree with any show of poor sportsmanship or strong profanity from anyone associated with our Bears. There is no place for that in HS sports. I appreciate our Coaches and believe they love these kids and want the best for them.

I am excited that our school has the opportunity to compete against one of the premiere football programs in the state tonight. Bears will show up and play hard. I believe you will see a much more composed and disciplined team. Maryville is a class act and the Bears will be the underdog, but I am proud of the accomplishments of this group and wish both teams a competitive game, with no injuries and a positive hand shake after the game. Go BEARS!

Bradley is one of the most undisciplined teams I've seen this year. If you have no discipline you will have a very rocky road trying to match up with Maryville. I can't blame fans for getting upset if they think there was a blown call but for adults to act like the one's that were ushered over to the side that night tends to make me believe the apple's on the field don't fall to far from the tree. I also want a fair as possible game between the two schools. I can't argue any of the calls that were made that night because my attention wasn't on the subject call.  To be fair I did see one time when we had the ball and it was third down and we clearly didn't make it and the official gave the Rebels and extra foot on the spot which gave them a first down.  I personally didn't like that at all and I can't even remember now how that drive ended but I saw that for sure. My pot shots aren't at the good fans of Bradley but the Igmo's that got sent to the principle's office for not acting their age.

    Hey Barney, let's talk:

    1. Yes indeed, we had an unauthorized fan on the sideline. Not a parent of any player. He misbehaved and should have definitely been sent to the "Principal's office." Agreed.

    2. Yes our Bears are undisciplined at times. Fair statement. They are doing better but still need to improve in this area. Agreed.

    3. All Zebras miss calls. None of us are perfect. An honest mistake is always allowable. Agreed.

    4. Maryville has the best program in the state for the past 2 decades. Winning cures all ailments and it's very easy to look past bad calls or even home cooking when your team NEVER loses. The challenge for your fans will be: How will they behave if the shoe is ever on the other foot in a close game? Maybe yours will pass the test. ??? Can you agree?

    5. Maryville is by far the favorite. The Bears will show up and play hard. Officials are from another area of the state. Authorities will more closely monitor who gets on the field. The team that plays the best should win. Can you Agree?

Bear fans are passionate and we have a great school and athletic program. ALL schools have a few "Igmo's." You are fortunate to win easily every week so that yours haven't been exposed. Can you agree?

All that said, Friday will be a good game in a great atmosphere at a super facility where 95% of the players, coaches and fans will enjoy watching young men compete and do the right thing. Let's forget the other 5%. How about it?
