  3. We are excited to announce that the 2023 Bill Brimer Brawl in the Hall will now be a 32 man double elimination bracketed tournament. We already have a great lineup of teams committed to next year's tournament and are looking to add a few more. I have personally ran the Ed Cressel Classic at Virginia High School for the past 10 years and we are looking to grow the Brawl in the Hall into a premiere tournament.  Tim Marshall and I will be running the tournament using track wrestling and we have a top notch facility that will feature 8 mats and seating for several thousand spectators and wrestlers. Friday and Saturday will feature our high school tournament while Sunday features the Bristol Brawl which is one of the biggest and best youth tournaments around.  If you are interested in entering your team into our high school tournament please contact Tim Marshall or myself at the contact info below.  And as a quick reminder I will no longer be running the Ed Cressel Classic at Virginia High.  If you have questions about that tournament please contact Brad Harper (Virginia High AD) or Dakota Nealy (new head wrestling coach).

  4. Excited to announce the addition of Rural Retreat to the Ed Cressel Classic. This is a huge addition to an already very tough tournament. Also, I know some of you already know I have taken the head coaching job at Tennessee High School. We will STILL have the Ed Cressel Classic each year. With the help of Viking Wrestling Club and Virginia High’s new coaching staff we will work together to continue this tournament as long as possible.  Below is my new email address if you need to contact me.

  5. I definitely remember watching both of them.  They both had really tough weight classes that year.  I remember creating the brackets and seeing how incredibly difficult it was going to be to win those.  Had several weight classes with state placers/champs getting beat in the quarterfinals.

  8. To get a jump start on next season I wanted to get the word out that the 10th Annual Ed Cressel Classic will be taking place on January 8-9, 2021 at Virginia High School. This year we hosted 39 teams from 5 different states and had an amazing tournament with some tough competition. Next season we are looking to open the tournament even more and add an additional 2 mats in our auxiliary gym. We will allow teams to enter all backups and run the tournament as 64 man brackets if necessary. We run a great tournament, keep things running smoothly, and we get things done as quickly as we possibly.  We also have great facilities and a top notch coaches hospitality.  Results for this past year's tournament can be found at trackwrestling.com.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me at jshuler@bvps.org.

    Thanks,
    Josh Shuler
