Well of course you do. You’re from Macon County I wouldn’t expect anything less lol. I agree last night they were absolutely 20 points better maybe more!  I’ll see you on the 14th of February and we discuss your predictions further. On a side note, what was Macon County boys program thinking by letting Marsh move to Red Boiling?  That blows my mind.

I don’t follow you in asking how Macon let Marsh move to RBS? I don’t think he was kicked out of school and I am also sure Coach Welch didn’t buy him a house in RBS to move into.  Was Macon supposed to give him a bag of money to stay? His dad played at Macon and he came up through our elementary/Jr. High programs.

Marsh moved to RBS on his own. Did it hurt Macon? Absolutely, but I don’t know what Macon had to do with that. It was a personal decision.

This game lived up to all the hype of a rivalry game. Im proud of my nephew #11!!!!

#11 played a good game. Looked like Westmoreland wanted it just a little more. MC hasn’t got that dog in them. Disappointing year setting up for the Tigers. Good thing 3 automatic wins were scheduled to go along with Cumberland Co.

It was a fun game to watch! On to Jackson County! Macon has some good players, good luck on the rest of the year!

It was a fun game as in the score stayed close not because of the actual play. Two very bad offenses and two decent defenses is what I saw. MC still hasn’t figured out how to finish a drive. Get a little something going and then go away from it.

Can someone please explain the thinking on the last possession by SC?

Made zero sense to me. Ball should have never left the QB hands and probably from under center. Tried to give the game to MC but they refused to take it lol. Good thing for SC is your wondering about 1 possession in a game you won. MC is wondering what happened on multiple possessions in a game they lost.

I agree. I was expecting more from both teams. I don't know who Macon has scheduled this season best of luck to them. I know who Smith Co. has scheduled and all I can say is there is much needed improvement.

Macon plays no one really. Region is weak and out of region schedule was redone this year to be play even weaker teams. TC is really the only tough team on the schedule. With the 3 automatic wins that were scheduled and the region like it is, Macon as bad as they played and coached last night, could play the same game and will win 6 or 7 and it will look like it was a decent year.

  6. Terrible showing by both teams. Neither team is very good at this stage. MC should be outraged with this performance. Terrible clock management and play calling. Would like to think with all the support and things that are being given to this program a better product would be on display.

It was really great when the Upperman girls walked in and both student sections and some adults chanted “we hate Upperman “ and booed the girls.  Such sportsmanship and class shown by both groups!

Go cry a river... I don’t think anyone personally hates the Upperman team or Dana for that matter. In fact, I think most of the girls are friends and some even play together during the summer. It is all in good fun and it has obviously gotten under your skin and apparently the Upperman team (mainly the coach). Upperman is the two-time defending state champ, so you have a bulls eye on your back. Put on your big girl panties and realize people “hate” you because they want their school to have that success. It’s not personal and NOT in bad taste. Do you need a soft pillow or a quiet place? Embrace the hate and understand you earned it by being the most successful AA team in the state for two years running.

  8. At first glance this looks really bad. At the very least, I thought both teams should have subbed to allow the bench players some time. I then checked the Upperman bench, and realized only 2 or 3 girls didn’t play. It sucks for those girls, but Dana didn’t have 5 subs to put in. If one of the girls in the regular rotation had gotten hurt, then we would all be questioning why she didn’t have them out of the game. Not a great look, but can’t argue with the decision. Upperman still has a viable shot at the state tournament and maybe even a title. No point in risking injury to anyone that contributes meaningful minutes.

  9. Has anybody actually checked the stats from the game? All these people claiming “selfish” play, do you realize the other three starters shot a combined 1-20 in the game for Macon? These are high school girls doing their best to win. Quit analyzing so much and let them play. Did Carter and Gregory take some bad shots? Absolutely, but after looking at he stats the other players didn’t contribute when given plenty of opportunity.

This game was lost purely because of coaching. That is not really a knock at Larry, as he is a very good coach. It is a compliment for Dana. She has proven she is a great coach and she got the better of Larry last night. I suspect there will be a couple of more matchups between these two teams this season. Let’s see if Larry makes any adjustments or not.

I readily admit he was not my #1.  If my guy would have gotten here then you would never have commented.  And he was very very close to being here, if not for his wife I am hearing.

Chad Watson is not a splashy hire but I do not think anyone on the short list wanted it more. He interviewed great and really really wanted the job.  That to me says at least one thing, he wants to be here for some reason.  We will support him fully and knowing what I know he might just surprise you and several others.

“Nobody on the short list wanted it more” = Everyone else on the “short list” turned us down. If wanting the job is the only requirement, then congratulations you got your man!

What exactly have they said that makes you think their expectations are unrealistic? Not like they're expecting them to go 10-0 every year. There is potential at Gallatin still, if the HC is given the resources and support needed to play at a high level, they're going to thrive under Watson

The fact that they think this is still a premier program is what I refer to. That alone tells me that their expectations do not align with reality. Watson will be successful if given support and time, but I worry what happens if he comes out and goes 4-6.

Take it easy man. Give the head coach a chance to prove! He is technically 15-6 in 3 years as head coach at a Clarksville NE program that had missed the playoffs entirely the year before he took over. That isnt bad. Let's see what he can do at Gallatin

This thread has been spot on it seems. Greatone and Gwave1 will have to admit this hire is nothing but vindication for the “outsiders” that said Gallatin was no longer a desired job. You just hired a coach that has never won a TSSAA playoff game. There were 5-6 names in this thread that had better credentials than what you ended up with. You guys will throw out all those “big names” that applied, but those guys do that everywhere. That’s how they get better deals for themselves. Quit living in the past and realize Gallatin just isn’t relevant any longer from a state perspective.

With all that being said, Watson is a good young coach and will be successful if given support and time. I fear the unrealistic expectations of people like Greatone and Gwave1 will ultimately result in him being a short timer in Gallatin.

  13. Ive seen in several Macon threads throughout the year that coach Shoulders was hired too late to expect much at the beginning. Was he not here during the summer? I thought he was hired about the same time every new coach is hired. Yes, occasionally you will get a coach who can run spring practice before moving to their new school, but that is by far and away not the norm. I agree that I think he has done a good job but to keep bringing up that he was hired so late I do not understand. Can someone enlighten me on why this keeps being brought up?

Right we dodged you sort of like how you dodged us in the alumni game, unlike you, we weren't under agreement to play you. And for those 2 years who knows who would have won, I know for a fact if Harper doesn't get hurt in 14 then that game is a blowout! 21-7 and he had 150+yards and 3TD halfway through 2nd quarter, but tell yourself whatever you want Carlisle is gone and the hind end kicking a begin again. Wonder who won't want to schedule next year?:popcorneater:

Unlike you, I can own up to the truth. Macon did dodge you in the alumni game, just like Creasy and TC dodged Macon after 2014. I will even agree that had Harper not went out, TC goes onto win in 2014. Not going to say a blowout but they win comfortably.  I think everyone that is honest knows Macon drills you in 2015 and 2016. 2016 was our best team since 2003. Trust me you all didn’t want any of the 2015 or 2016 teams. One thing you can’t argue is Macon dodging you in high school football. We have taken plenty of butt whoopings from TC over the years, so not sure why we would dodge you. That is a fairly normal thing. One thing is for certain, the one time the shoe was on the other foot TC dodged us. Waggoner needs to be more worried about Watertown and less about Macon. Macon has zero shot of winning on Friday night. In all honesty, TC had the better team last year but TC got out coached in crucial situations.

  15. 1 hour ago, football6 said:

    Yes we owe them one.

You actually owe us 2 (lost 2 in a row) and it would have been 4 had Creasy not elected to dodge Macon for two years after losing in 2014 on the creekbank. With that being said, Seth Carlisle and company are long gone and TC names the score this year. Macon is not getting any better through the year, the competition is just that bad. TC done what they should have done to Westmoreland to make me see they still are a contender in 2A.

  16. 44 is very similar to 25 from Watertown. 25 may be a step quicker and a little more refined on the offensive side of the ball, but that may be due to the type of offense they play in. On defense, I would put 44 up against anyone. He is a very good LB, tough to block, runs sideline to sideline, and is a sure tackler.

With all that being said, I will agree with Tony on one thing, TC should win this game by 4 TD’s or more if they are a true 2A gold ball candidate.

They just need help I’m sure they would take any back from Westmoreland or TC and give them a statue

No statue, we got to get the Carlisle statue done first. Macon’s backs are not the problem. They don’t have any as good as 2, 21, 8 or 44 from Westmoreland, but they have some decent skill kids. Their problem is up front. They are weak and not very physical. In saying that, yes 2 would be welcomed with open arms.

While #2 was away #21 rushed for over 200 yards against Friendship.... you mean to tell me #2 is the only reason the ball gets moved??

He was against Watertown. 21 is a nice player, but you could clearly see 2 had more burst through the hole, much better balance/vision, and he finished his runs falling forward. 21 is a very good high school player, but from what I saw out of 2 that night he could run the ball on a collegiate level.  I don’t know either kid personally, but I hate it for any high school kid to get kicked off a team. It was likely warranted, but I still hate it as this time can never be recouped. Hope he learns from it and comes back even better.

  19. I can agree with almost all of that except for Satterfield not being 4-0 and TC not being more talented than everyone they have played. I will say Lebanon is 50-50 due to depth, but that is what makes TC who they are. They used to win the 50-50 games and often won when they weren’t near as talented (Portland 2001). TC used to be feared and that is not the case any longer.

There may have been good teams that didn’t win, but this team in 2A should not be challenged if complete and healthy. Sat and Creasy both win a championship with this bunch. Coaching is just as much about controlling players attitudes and emotions as it is x’s and o’s. Everyone is okay with a high school kid getting kicked off, but why wasn’t the situation handled before it got to this point? Satterfield had complete control of his players and coaches. I am not so sure who has control of this team. If 2 had an attitude problem, I can almost guarantee there are others.

You should wear your ring proud. Maybe you should go talk to these kids about the sacrifice it takes to win one. I am not sure the program has the same attitude, confidence, and heart it had even 10 years ago. Maybe some old jackets can make kids like 2 and 8 realize they shouldn’t take for granted the opportunity they have.

  20. You are 2-2 on the season and should be 4-0. TC has had the better team in each game. Clint Satterfield is 4-0 right now with this bunch. To say something isn’t broke is laughable. TC will dominate the rest of the regular season, but I will say that your lack of offense gets you beat when they start counting.

I think I was a little vague on my lack of explosion statement. You still have some fast athletic kids, but when everyone in the stadium knows it is a run I am not sure you can score enough against good teams (see Lebanon and Watertown) If 8 comes back as the QB and they start getting people into space and utilizing the pass game, that could change some things. 2 and 8 are a cut above everyone else. They can score at any given time no matter what the defense does. The other kids may prove me wrong, only time will tell.

I am pulling for TC to make a run because I like good football, but I don’t think anyone can honestly say they are not concerned with the state of the TC program with all that has went on so far this year. If Westy can move the ball on you to keep their defense fresh and in good situations, this game could be close. If you would have asked me before he season started, I would have said TC by as much as they want.

That kid would never play for Macon co now your dreaming he will be back next year TC is more than just one player I can tell you haven’t seen TC play that much with saying TC is not explosive with #6 breaking long runs game after game He has only played in one game all year because he has been suspended I think Watertown Lebanon and Friendship Christian are all very good competition

LOL! I have seen TC play plenty. I will say again, 2 passed the eye test. The others are good players, but 2 was the most explosive player on the field against Watertown. Take him away and you do NOT move the ball. The other guys will shine against average teams, but the facts are you scored 35 in a full game against a Gville team that gave up 42 in a half to Watertown. TC is NOT explosive without 2 and 8. I thought TC would cakewalk to the gold ball with 2 and 8 back. Take 2 off this team and they are still very good, but not state championship good. Once 8 gets back, my opinion could change, but I want to see if TC opens up the playbook or continues to limit themselves offensively.

Through 4 games TC has allowed in terms of rushing defense 74 yards against Friendship, 100 against Gordonsville, 120 against Lebanon and 140 against Watertown.

For the most part teams haven't had too much success running the ball against them.

So how does Westmoreland stack up against the teams that TC has faced so far? Lebanon, Watertown, Friendship and Gordonsville. Because I could be wrong but I believe TC has had +200 yards (+300 against Gordy and Friendship) rushing in each of those games.

And aside from a couple long runs have pretty much stopped the run in each of these games.

I have seen Westmoreland twice and they are nowhere near as big or fast as Lebanon, Friendship or Watertown on either side of the ball. I would say they are on par with Gordonsville.

I think Westy is better than Gville defensively and much more physical. Offensively, they are not great and probably similar to Gville. Shut down 44 and that limits the damage they can do. He is a big back that can run. I don’t know If he is getting any college looks, but he can definitely play LB at the next level. I look for Westmoreland to keep it close first half and for TC to pull away in the second. I see a 28-14 type game. Now if TC connects on a couple of passes or scores on special teams, it could be a 4-5 TD victory for TC.
