  1. Posty, they kicked in about $35,000/year plus other fringe benefits to put him at around $100,000/year with his county pay. I do think he was worth it as a coach. Macon would have to do something special to get a coach of that caliber here.  He has a state title and his record speaks for itself. Things got sideways when the farmers figured out they couldn't control him and he really didn't like them and just used them to get a payday. He was looking for a way out as quick as he landed here.

  2. Macon has five winning seasons since 1981

    1983 - 7-4 Owenby

    1990 - 6-5 Dawson

    2002 - 8-3 Pat Dyer

    2003 - 12-2 Pat Dyer

    2016 - 9-3 Nathan Wilson

I think a winning record would be a prerequisite for a "really good" team. We have not had many. You have no clue what you are talking about.

On a side note, Westy has 22 winning seasons since 1981, TC has 32 winning seasons since 1981, and Smith has 29 winning seasons since 1981.

u have no clue about half of what your saying.Macon had several really good teams in the 80's,not as many in the 90's but a few.Since 2000 it's been about half and half with some really good teams in there.Pemberton broke a 17 game losing streak his first year here and went to the play-offs and went to the play-offs his next season in a district a whole lot tougher than what macon playing in now, The coach now has done a good job,no doubt but how good could any coach have done the past 4 years without superman? we'll find out next year. When u have a player that good anybody can win. The question is how many games can u win without a player like that. I have faith but it want b as easy and if anybody can I think he will but time will tell.

How many playoff games have we won in the last 40 years? How many region championships? How many playoff games have we hosted? You have got to be kidding me if you think Macon has been anything other than a doormat. We were a perennial homecoming opponent for most of the last 40 years. Sounds like you must be a good ole boy that brought Pemberton in. I can tell by your lack of grammar skills. Don't get butt hurt. I said he done a decent job. I think he slightly underachieved with the talent he had, but the program would have been good had he stayed. He is definitely a great coach. To answer my questions, we have 4 playoff wins in the history of our school. 1 last year and 3 in 2003. We have 1 region championship from 2003 with 1978 being most recent before that and we have hosted 3 playoff games in the history of our school that I know of. Does that sound like the makings of a good program? I can answer that for you. NO.  If the normal crowd that complains will leave everything alone, I feel that the program can stay above water and be respectable. We shouldn't fall back to 1-9 or 0-10. Pemberton's district was a little tougher than what we have now but not as tough as the one we just came out of. He also never beat TC, but he did take your money and left y'all high and dry! Please tell me I don't know what I am talking about, I can prove you wrong anytime. I hope your wife is still awake so she can read you this post illiterate joe.

  4. Got beat by a better team on that night. I would like to have Smith again this year to see how much better we have gotten from week 1. So are you thumping your chest about beating Macon now? How flattering. See how that works? Let's be real. Macon has been a doormat for 40 years. Pat Dyer had the program turned around and got run off. Pemberton didn't do great in the win column, but had he stayed we would have been respectable. Wilson took over a mess and has now built the program to a good spot. If people will leave him alone Macon will continue to be a good program. We are far behind Smith, Trousdale, and Westmoreland as far as the past 40 years goes. We have fewer athletes than Smith and Trousdale year in and year out. So yes, beating either of those teams is a big deal for Macon. We have had 8 coaches in the last 20 years. Let that sink in. No program can succeed with that kind of track record. Like I said, I am proud of our kids and program and hope we can keep building it.

Beat Whinemoreland - beat TC and has done wore off any hair he had on his chest thumping it.... (if there was any to start with) .

For the record, Trousdale is the measuring stick in this area. I know of some 3A schools in this area that are scared to play them...

  6. Reynard, no shame from me. You do realize what kind of program Macon has had over the last 40 years right? The coaches and players have put us on solid ground to being a respectable program. I am giving credit where credit is due. If the usual suspects in Macon will leave well enough alone, the program will continue to get better. Nobody but the 45 or so players and coaches gave Macon a shot at beating the almighty TC Yellow Jackets and their new college football coach. 95% of coacht picked against them, including myself. Got to concentrate on Stone Memorial now. TC is in the past.

  7. Got several from Westmoreland and Trousdale too... You can make fun of that surrounding cast, but bottom line is MC beat both TC and Westmoreland without 2 starting LB's. One of which is the second best player on the team. Volstate and Posty should start up an excuse making company. Lord knows y'all got plenty of those to go around. I can't wait to hear your excuses next year.

  8. At one point we only had 2 seniors on the field. Our offense played with 3 seniors on the field most of the night. You were playing so many young guys because your older ones were too scared to get hit and had already asked out of the game. 2A versus 4A means nothing to me. Population is a poor indicator for classification. IMO, The 1997 TC team was the best team in the state in all classifications and they were 1A. If Macon had 80 players suited and were able to play guys one way then you would have an argument. We both dressed roughly 35 players. TC was bigger and faster. The bottom line is Macon wanted it more, their players executed better, and I do believe the Division 1 college coach you hired got out coached. I anticipate more of the same next year.

Proud of the way we played the other night, but make no mistake about it, our road will get much tougher without Carlisle next year against TC and other teams as well.

Wow! You don't say? He is just the best player to ever suit up for the Tigers. As I said earlier, Macon will be down but they will surprise some people come next year, maybe even TC.

That's what you get for hearing heresay... like I said just remember next September when payback will be heck. Like I said you beat TC plain and simple. But these sophomores and juniors will grow up and the same ones you played will be right there next year. I wish u guys the best the rest of the year. It will be interesting to see who plays longer in the playoffs. You do know you are 4A right and you beat the smallest 2A school in the state right? But the standard here at TC has been we could beat anyone no matter what level. So you got us this year. Congrats.

No heresay, heard it from the horse's mouth. I get tired of hearing the old 2A versus 4A argument. That has never seemed to matter before. You had just as many guys dressed out as Macon. You were bigger and I would say faster overall. You got hit in the mouth and didn't like it. I love the fact that TC is having to say "wait till next year." That is not something you have done in the past. Macon will be down next year for sure, so TC should win the game. That is what we all thought this year as well. I will say this, TC may get "payback" next year but Macon will not run and hide like TC has done the past two years. May want to hire Macon's coach down at TC. He owns y'all right now.

There was a certain parent I talked to sunday that has a kid playin for macon. He said macon county had the qb for TC scared to run after the punishment delivered. Is this so?

I don't know which players it was, but the same coach that was screaming and yelling in the team huddle after the game said TC had guys asking to come out at the end of the second quarter. #8 had a decent game and didn't look scared, but according to this coach someone was...

  12. Take your two long runs off, and that becomes 28 plays for 130 yards. I know you can't  take those plays away, but your figures are misleading. Go watch the highlights on the Macon County Facebook page, two of the touchdowns Carlisle was untouched. Macon also sacked your QB 4 times. No doubt about it, Macon's OL and DL won the night. If our OL and DL play like that the rest of the year, the Tigers will be hard to beat.

Hate to tell you, TC whipped your line on defense. They had 269 yards rushing according to paper. First two drives they drive it down your throat. And the entire line will be back next year. The 3 turnovers was the difference and of course your quarterback. Heck your other RB did nothing to even scare TC. Like I told you, it was a one man show and give your qb credit. He's darn good.

We must have watched a different game.  I will say the TC line fared well initially, but were non existent much of the second half.  269 yards rushing and 150 of that was on two runs with broken tackles.  The backs made something out of nothing.  Macon definitely won the battle up front on offense and defense.  They won the battle so much that a certain coach of yours is going around Macon telling people you had guys coming off the field late in the second quarter and asking not to go back in.  That is a beat down right there.  Posty, don't you have some refs to go blame somewhere?

Payback will happen at the Creek Bank next year. Trust me TC will not forget that game. You will play same TC team but those sophomores and juniors will be a year older. But, like I said, great job by your quarterback. He was a one man show. And he was very impressive.

Don't forget our line, that whipped TC all night long. Also, don't forget our Freshman and Sophomore DB that picked off passes or our DE, who blew up your lineman all night. That's the same DE that TC ran off from the spring.  I will say, I didn't expect MC to stand a chance in this game, but the young boys grew up a bit last night. This is the first time all year I have seen the fire it takes to beat a good team. I have said it before, MC will get better each week. Payback may happen next year, but I will enjoy this one for 362 more days. You just better be glad you dodged us the past two years or Macon would be going for 5 in a row. Also be glad MC has a few starters out or this game could have been worse.

Macon will get mercy ruled early friday night but TC will dodge teams. Its been years ago now but they didnt want none of goodpasture or david lipscomb back in the day so they went out and created their own region. This is a known fact.

This is spot on. Funny thing is Posty, they intentionally left Westmoreland out of the fold, so you all would have to play the privates. That makes me wonder why you would even entertain playing them again?

Considering macon has an easy schedule this year and barely pulled one off over Westmoreland,  WHH  and another close one to one of the worst schools in TN the Cumberland county jets.  If #15 wasn't playing Macon would be 0-4 right now....I will lay my money on Hartsville Friday night.  It's fortunate for Macon to go down a region this season and save them from a 1-9 record.

No argument on this one. Macon would have been destroyed in that old region.  Macon lost much more last year than people realize. The good news is, in years past Macon could have played this schedule and gone 2-8 or 1-9. We have turned the corner and those days are gone. If people will support the program and the kids come out to play we should win at least 4-5 games a year. As for Friday night, TC should roll.

You'll do realize this is TC 3rd head coach since TC has played Macon lot has changed here and dodging MC would never happen why would any team even a down TC dodge a MC team come on now all I'm hearing is that you'll know you'll about to take a L this Friday and you coming with the excuse already out of past 9 times TC played Macon TC has went 6-3 MC is starting to sound like those Smith Co owls with this scheduling stuff believe it or not TC fans would rather play Gallatin than MC and most  people of TC don't see Macon as a rival  or someone that TC has to schedule I'm sure after this series is over after next year MC won't be on schedule TC like playing the big boys and Macon isn't one of the big boys in sure only reason Macon is on the schedule is bec Smith isn't

You are full of it. I agree it should never happen, but it did. There is no other game TC wants to win more than Macon. I guarantee that had TC opted to schedule Macon in 15/16 that record would be 6-5. Macon is NOT a big boy and that is the reason TC dodged us. Satterfield and company couldn't sleep at night knowing what Macon would have done to them the last two years. It would have been humiliating. Schedule a "big boy" and lose and TC has lost nothing. Schedule Macon and lose and TC is embarrassed. Macon will take one on the chin come Friday, but we didn't run and hide from it.

Lmao! Na tc just play Gallatin for 2 years also during that time yea tc scared of the almighty Macon county tigers lol this made my day smh

You may want to go back and check your 2015/2016 schedule. There is no Gallatin on there or Macon for that matter. I will give Trousdale credit, when they are good, they will play anyone. If they think they might be a little down, they definitely dodge some teams. You can look at that 2015 schedule and tell whoever made it out was definitely trying to schedule an easy win. Took Macon off and added Westmoreland, who was terrible those two years. TC is loaded for the next 3-4 years, so naturally they are willing to play everyone now. TC is a much better program than Macon. That makes it even more embarrassing that you all dodged us when we actually had a chance to beat the Jackets. Unfortunately, Macon lost most of their firepower last year and this years game will be over halfway through.

  19. Macon has 2 chances to win this game. Slim and none. Can the Tigers make it a game? I think so, however we have not stopped a good running football team all year. Macon is SOFT and until the defensive backs quit playing 10-15 yards off the ball and come up and help on the run, teams will continue to run it down our throats. I look for this to be a decent game until halftime and the Jackets to pull away in the second half. I will say 35-14.

Guru, you and your 54 post have alot of knowledge wrapped up in those. By the way, you mean to tell me macon has disgruntled parents? LOL i hear its only the ones that cant afford to pay for a starting position. The rest are pretty happy! LOL

I am not the one on here claiming to be something I am not. I was actually posting on this site a few years before you Posty, not that it makes a difference. I used to be Tennisguy, but I forgot my password. My email was an old college email so I couldn't change it. Hence the new name. With that being said, if I "bled purple and gold" I would be more concerned with a team that wore those colors.
