You do realize none of this even makes sense. I'm not saying somebody didn't tell you this but it doesn't add up. To start with "The City of Kingsport" didn't do the interviews did they? I thought that was done by the so called "search committee". The two coaches we've been talking about, Seals and Witten, have records that speak for themselves. I've never heard anything but positive about both at school and in the community. What could they of said in a interview that would throw up so many red flags? And it also doesn't make sense that a "former player" would have so much power that he could just basically walk in and give the order to hire Christian and forget the rest. I still think deal was sealed long before the so called national search for a coach. We probably will never know the truth.

Excuse me for posting “the City of “Kingsport” doing the interview. There was five to seven people that sat in on the interview process as some of the what you called “search committee” was not there for every interview as some of the individuals has prior obligations.  As for what was said by Coach Witten, I will not go into detail but if you are truly interested in what he said,  I assume you know people in the administration and I am sure you can find out exactly what was said.  On the former player, I’m not going to list his name but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who this player is.  The “search committee” was ready to hire their man and then this “former player” approached those in the administration and said “we need to stay in house and hire this guy.”  And no the deal was not done long before the search started. You can believe me or not, I really don’t give s#*t.

At least one of the Good ole Boys lol. Everybody knows by now that the hire was a done deal long before the so called search committee was ever formed. The whole thing was a farce. It was pretty lame to say the least that they would form a search committee to do a "nation wide" search do a few token interviews and then give the job to an assistant with zero head coaching experience. Witten probably thought they were serious, came into the interview and told them everything he was going to do to turn the program into a winning one. That would mean he was planning on trimming out the dead weight and bringing in a few "real coaches" with him. And you know the "Good ole Boys" weren't going to have that.

Actually, no I was not one of those interviewing him but I spoke with someone who did sit in on the interview and if you would have heard what he had to say, you would have said no thanks as well. The city of Kingsport interviewed several people and was turned down several times.  A former player at DB basically called out the administration and told them that they needed to stay in house and that’s what they did. We will see what happens at the conclusion of this season but everyone might as well get behind with who we have now because bashing the staff this early in the season is a little premature. And with those saying we have talent on this team, your wrong, because we do not have the talent we’ve had in years past. Particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

DB should've hired Witten. There's no doubt in my mind he would've turned the program around and done so pretty quickly.

With that said, I'm glad they didn't.

Whiten had a terrible interview and that’s putting it nicely. JC is who we got and we might as well get behind him at least for this season.

I think this might be your dumbest post yet. lol. And I'm including the post where you have predicted DB to win the first two games as well as the game coming up with SH. Come on man, get it together. You did get the part right about the DB players trying their best but the rest of it is embarrassing for you. What you read in the Times News article was a head coach giving a list of excuses. Nowhere yet have I read a single word that he or another coach has taken any responsibility. Not a word. And I don't expect it, ever. Every excuse he listed is a direct cause from very poor coaching. From the little leagues to varsity.

Your last sentence, true, but it will never happen. Never. Good God what is wrong with people around here.

Agree with everything you said. Sometimes you (coach) have to look yourself in the mirror and take the blame. Yes, some of the blame is on the players but they just don’t look prepared and maybe he’s just not relating well with the players.

Sometimes you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug.

This debacle gets turned around next week as DB finally takes the Hill 17-14

NO it won’t, DB is not beating SH. They may win the next week against Sevier county. They’ll be 1-4 at the half way point.

  6. DB may not be a good football team like some are saying but most of their offense is back from last year. It seems to me there is some dissension on the offense side of the ball. There is no way this team shouldn’t be scoring at least two to three touchdowns a game. The offensive coordinator is from Knoxville I believe. Maybe these kids are just not relating well with the coaching staff. The defense looks like a middle school defense. It’s hard to believe that a school of that size don’t have more athletes than what is out there. It is going to be a long season for the Tribe. Hate it for the seniors.

  7. If Sensabaugh had more time and full reign with the defensive backs there would of been great improvement. DB has been pretty good on offense for years but terrible on defense. Especially with the defensive backfield. Years of terrible coaching can't be fixed in the short time he was there. DB hasn't had decent coaching on defense since Watson left. There have been some very good players that have left the program but there is still plenty of talent. DB should of went 9-1 in regular season last year and you see where they ended up. It's coaching.

I disagree, the talent level is not there right now. You can call it coaching all you want but to say their record would have been 9-1 is laughable. It would not have mattered who would have been coaching this past season, they may should won one, maybe two more games. You could see some improvements at times but overall the skill set is just not very high right now. GS worked with corners and safeties at D-B, that's all he did. He did the best he could with what he had to work with.

  8. Actually GS did coach Defensive backs this season at Dobyns Bennett. For the ones saying he should be coaching at DB, he did this last season. He was in the press box each game. Dobyns Bennett defensive backs struggled all season, kids played hard but the talent is just not there right now.

A bunch of athletes have quit or won't play over the last several years.I'll say this again, when next year's seniors were in the 8th,both middle schools beat Greeneville's mostly seventh grade studs.Yes they should have but now find out why Greeneville,900 students will be a favorite over DB and you have all your answers as to how many players or what Greeneville high has that DB doesn't with 2 to 3 times the kids.DB should be a 5 TD favorite over my school with all the athletes and vast numbers of kids to choose from.Hey,one more time,If the tax payers are happy, that's all that matters.I'm very happy with what The Devils have and thanked the Greeneville coaches for what they have accomplished and done for our program.

Well most of the athletes that played freshman ball are still playing.  Just because the school has 2000 kids doesnt mean they should beat Greeneville by five touchdowns.  Also, next year there will be forty-eight 6A teams and Alcoa would probably beat all of them but maybe one or two of them.  Alcoa is much smaller than Greeneville.

  11. I could go into what players have left including three of the best lineman ,the best athlete and so on from the best 9th grade team in years and the fact they will be seniors next year.Nobody outside of all those kids and the kids that walk the halls that are great athletes and their families really care.I watched Sevier kill Greeneville three years ago and Robinson beat them in the playoffs before beating Sevier in the championship. That Greeneville 7th and 8th grade bunch will be a heavy favorite to win state next year.DB is trying to pad the schedule before another playoff laugh. What matters to the average fan I talk to is DB sucks every year come playoff time. One year in over a decade has DB won as many as two games in a playoff. Now,it doesn't take an inside person to figure out their is a problem somewhere between middle school ,the 9th grade and winning when it counts. The athlete's started in the system but have no chance against a team like Maryville or Oakland now days. It's not the kids fault, but a leadership problem getting them what they need.Hundreds of kids including my own have been let down by Kingsport and it's leaders. I don't blame some of those people because they have tried to make some changes and I don't blame all of the coaches because there are some good ones.Once again, the bottom line is the results and that smart monkey on youtube would be a great addition to the board at this point.

Who is this athlete your speaking of who quit? He will be a senior next year?

  12. Any word on the Indians 2017 football schedule? Curious to see who the non-conference opponents will be. Saw on Twitter over the weekend that R1-5A teams are scheduling more R2-5A teams this go around instead of the local R1-6A's like Dobyns Bennett and Science Hill.
