  1. I think we can give Catholic some credit!! West was only missing three starters one of which was on defense.   Catholic would’ve win either way.   They dominated. Good luck to west rest of season. D-2 private is a different ball game week in and week out.  Catholic proved that Friday night. Defense dominated and Offense threw for 256 yards. Give credit where credit is do.

Lane did the same thing with West and other schools HC jobs he has applied for. He tells the administration he is working on his certification and that it is not a state rule or T$$AA rule that you have to be a certified teacher to be a head football coach in Tennessee. A certain school system might require an applicant to be a certified teacher, but T$$AA does not. Some coaches have gotten a waver from the state to be able to teach while they are getting certified. But l don't know if this is the case. I think the only real state requirement to be a HC of a high school football team is 5 years experience as an assistant and then pass all of the other T$$AA test on concussion/coaching ethics/something. They made these rule changes gradually over the years starting with assistant coaches in the various sports back in the mid 90s l think. These assistant coach positions were categorized as non faculty coaches. They have continued to decrease the requirements to be a head coach. Many other states had lessened the requirements of being a teaching faculty member  to be a head football coach many years ago.

Interesting this is absolutely false. Lane turned the job down.  Love to see that most people who post on here have no idea what’s going on.  He is certified to teach. Not at all what happened. He gained his certification two years ago.

Reveals a lot about one's character, how they handle disappointment or when things don't go their way.  This is not a good look, if it is true.

I heard this awhile back myself  when it did happen. Sounds like him and the Clinton administration are just right for each other

This is part of the problem at Clinton and I hate being a part of a place that does this.  Dog a coach before he even starts why would someone good want to come coach there.  Lane would be the best hire for Clinton.  Rumor is AC doesn’t want him to get the job bc he is one heck of a recruiter and he is a players coach! Before you spread rumors call some high school coaches around and see what they say about him.  The great ones will tell you about Kevin Lane. He is a DC who can easily be a head coach.

Kevin Lane? Is that the same guy that ran that atrocious defense at Central a while back? He might as well have signed Joel Helton's resignation papers for him. If I am not mistaken he took over the defense at West after Derek Rang left for Powell. Fastforward to the playoffs the year he took over and Derek Rang hung half a hundred on him with an inferior Powell team. It looked like a track meet out there. Aside from that you cannot teach without a teaching license. Years of service doesn't mean squat to anybody.

Wow! Negative. Are you upset from playing time or something? You are definitely a minority in what you think of Lane.  Sounds personal.

At the end of the day, kids want to play for him and he gets kids everywhere he goes.  That’s why he and Giles would have been great choices bc kids wanted to come play for them. West lost out not gettting kids number one reason they are turning into a losing program.

Catholic was they knew they needed coaches who kids wanted to play for. Have to have players coaching in This day in time.  Lan loves the kids like they are his own. End of story.

We was always told he was not certified to teach and you cant be head coach in Knox County and not be a teacher. So is that not true?

This is actually completely false. This is an excuse that was given to you.  He was signed off by superintendent and downtown bc years of service. If you were told that you were lied too.   But doesn’t matter from what I hear he will be now certified by end of year. West knew that. Too much politics over there and people puffin it chests out.  All it has done is hurt the kids.

I agree he is doing extremely well at Catholic as he has done  everywhere he has been. West lost a good one.
