  1. +1 that was a tremendously slow, action-less game. I am with everyone else when #40 came out, Meadows took over. I will never understand that move! Great run for Hampton though. Congrats on a great season.

Totally agree, when #40 sat out, Hampton had no one to defend her. I told my dad, I felt like if Hampton got behind that they wouldn't be able to score quick enough to catch up, seemed like they didn't have any outside shooters, except for #11, and I believe she is a freshman.

  2. I agree. Sounded like Dresden made adjustments after the half & limited Summertown to one 3 but just couldn't dig out of the 1st half hole. Not many teams would make 8 three's in a half. Didn't help Dresden losing their star PG early on with an injury either.

Obviously Summertown still doesn't get any respect.. Dresdens halftime adjustment? Do you think maybe Summertown made an adjustment? Most teams will play differently when you are up 18, why play fast and give the other team more possessions? I saw where someone said "I hope Summertown lives by the 3", well when you shoot it good, you can build a lead quickly, and Summertown built the lead the point guard got hurt.

  3. Wondered that myself. Her sub did not do a good job of denying Meadows in the post. That coupled with the Clarkrange press in the 4th was the difference.

That's exactly when Clarkrange pulled away, it was back and forth until then, the big post from Hampton was doing a good job defending meadows, at the start of the 3rd when Hamptons big was on the bench, it was too easy for Meadows and she got going after that.

  4. Ok first of all I hope everyone has fun and an injury free this weekend. Now 11 3's that's great but if you attempt 11 3's against Dresden the girls will have to run home. Seriously could the team you were playing play D??? Sounds like you depend heavily on the three. Hope that's true.

Hope those girls don't get rained on while they are running home tonight! Good job Summertown.

  5. Clarkrange and SG match up every well and play a similar style. It will be a good game and whomever does the little things right that game is going to win.

Clarkrange and SG have to officially go through the motions of playing their semi-final games tomorrow. Hampton and Summertown are generous enough to show up and play anyway. Hampton and Summertown should enjoy being there and while their at it, go ahead play the game, heck, y'all both might even make a game out of it.

  6. I pick Clay Co. by 13-15 points. Something like 61-48. Don't know anything about Loretto, but if they have any size like they did two years ago, that may keep this game lower scored.

Funny how you guys pick CC, and make the comment that you know nothing about Loretto... yes, they have had some drama, but the last 4 games, they have looked their best all year. Yes, they some size, their front court is all 6'5" or taller, very good size for class A... those bigs are very athletic, have very good guard play... should put up a heck of a fight.

  7. You're right BasketballIQ, I know we've had discussions/disagreements in the past couple weeks but it's time to stick together now, I hope everybody keeps sleeping on 12A.

I hope the Summertown fans will be there at 1:15 to support Perry Co because we will be there at 4:30.

I spelled out Perry Co because it seems that PC only stands for that other PC on here. Good Luck !

I totally agree.... with Loretto winning tonight, Distruct 12A has 3 teams headed that way..and yes, I will be there rooting on our fellow 12A undersdogs!

  8. I've seen your team several times. Dresden is more balanced than they were a couple of years ago when they made their showing. I'm pulling for Dresden, because I'm a West Tennessee homer and they put our girls out. We will be back next year, but if Dresden can stay away from those scoreless streaks in the middle of periods..they'll be fine. They're not too deep, but they have some fighters who don't quit.

So which games did you see Summertown play? You seem confident that Dresden will be fine if they stay away from those scoreless streaks. Summertown will play 9/10, so fouls trouble or stamina shouldn't be a problem. I haven't seen Dresden play, so I cannot make any statement on who will win..... but I hope summertown does.

  9. Ok first of all I hope everyone has fun and an injury free this weekend. Now 11 3's that's great but if you attempt 11 3's against Dresden the girls will have to run home. Seriously could the team you were playing play D??? Sounds like you depend heavily on the three. Hope that's true.

The point was that Summertown can shoot the 3... yes she hit 11 and the senior hit 10 last year.. they have 6 players that can knock down a 3. Yes, when open, they will shoot , but, if you play them tight, they will drive, same as all teams that will be playing.... Summertown seems to be the underdog, but they will come to fight.

  10. Dresden is who I got. I got a few reasons:1) they shut down Allie Smithson and Justyce White for Gibson County and held the team to 5 points in the first half, 2) they shut down Chloe Moore and Tess Darby of Greenfield in the region as well. No easy task. They beat a good Huntingdon team and Middleton team as well. They are battle tested beyond measure. Great defensive team with a good point guard in Millie Bryant who don't make a lot of mistakes. Weak points are they go through stretches of not scoring consistently especially down low. They are a senior laden team that will be tough. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Since your taking Dresden, I will take Summertown. Just for arguments sake, and here's why: Summertown has turned up the defensive intensity, as all good teams do this time of year. They too are battle tested, according to coachT, they have played the #3 toughest schedule in A (#1 and #2 on that list are out), they have faced some very good defenses along the way. They posses 4 guards who can knock down 3's at any time (district MVP who set a school record with 11 made in a single game this year is included in those 4), and run the point guard position as well. They also have 2 eight graders who play that will penetrate the paint with no fear and make plays, they also have interchangeable post players who can score and well as defend. They will play 9/10 deep every game, so stamina is not an issue. Of those players, all of them have played high stakes games at the state level, either on the basketball team, or the volleyball team (I believe the juniors have been to the state all 3 years), or the softball team who just came off a state tournament run as well, as several of those players, play on more than 1 of those mentioned teams...... but you also must consider the great equalizer..."THE GLASS HOUSE"....

Hopefully it will be a great game.

  11. Moore County travels, look for crowd to be even, only home team advantage may be with the officials. look for logan, lockhart and Thomas to have a big game as Moore County wins by 4-8 going away.

You seem very confident. You claim with MC's defense, their crowd, and the 3 players you named having big games that they win by 4-8 going away. Don't count out Summertown just yet, I don't think the MC players have seen an atmosphere like they will see tomorrow night. Also, game planning for this game and the fact Summertown is tuff at home. The Christmas tourney matchup in no indication for the outcome of this game. Summertown had played earlier in the day, no game planning for MC and also have added 2 8th graders that play a lot of minutes, who have made them better. It should be a good one and looking forward to watching. Maybe I am wrong, but if Summertown shoots the 3 well, my pick is the Lady Eagles.. and bye the way, you also said, I quote "

Should be a great game to watch, Moore County has too much for Forrest in this game. I like Moore County by 6 to 10."

  12. I've seen a few Forrest games this year. Yost is a player, but they ARE beatable (Summertown did it twice, I think). PC is peaking at the right time to make this a better game than it would have been 2 months ago. I predict Forrest will win, but I don't think it's going to be the cake walk everyone seems to think it will be. If PC plays with confidence and spreads the floor to players other than Brooks for scoring, it could be a game.

Yes, Summertown beat them at Forrest (Yost was out) and Summertown beat them at Summertown with Yost playing. If Brooks has one her big games that she has had lately, she can keep them close, and then her supporting cast must step up. Up hill battle for PC but very doable.

  13. Great game as expected, Summertown did a good job of somewhat containing Brooks. Her supporting cast was not enough tonight. Tonight was an example of Summertown's depth. When you have that many that can play, somebody is going to be "on".

  14. Agreed. I hope Graves can beat her slump tonight. She's a player, but I've seen/heard that she has struggled to score the last few games. Don't know if she's been sick or what. She'll beat it, just hope its tonight so we can see a great game. Brooks is also peaking at the right time, so Summertown will have to figure out how to contain her without giving the other 4 a free lane. Hoping for a good game, either way

I too hope for a great game. I know Graves doesn't play the minutes that Brooks does or take the percentage of shots because Summertown is so much deeper, they normally play 10 in every game. Graves seems to be a team player, content to score 30 or 3, as long as the team wins. She still leads the team is scoring according to An online website. And according to the post game interview after the Richland game, the coach was trying to pull Richland out of that zone they like to play so that did get them out of an offensive rtyhm. I am sure Summertown is game planning Brooks #1 and then the others second.. I am not sure who PC game plans for, Summertown has multiple players who can knock down the 3 and if you play tight on the perimeter, they can score in the post of left 1:1.... No better day than game day!
