    120-Martin over Dooley

    126-Plumlee over Wheaton

    132- Landers over McElhaney

    138-Wilkins over Pendley

    145-Fuller over Butler

    160-Sells over Adkins

    170- McMahan over Satterfield

    182-Fortner over Hicks

    220-Boek over Demillo

    Hwt-Boykin over Kramer

  3. Ok so here are my upset pick

First 132 henrey wins (not sure its a true upset but #2seed beats #1)

I also agree this is best match.

O W will be Rippy at 152 even though my pick for low seed winning is Samborski at160

I think that is a quality pick coach. If Samborski can upset the #2 and #1 he will get my vote.

  4. Possible finals matches to look at

    106 - Nelson vs Horst

    113 Hicks, Bowers, or Palmer

120 This bracket looks difficult the quarter finals should have some great matchups

126 - Wheaton vs Shrader maybe Plumlee from Mt. Juliet or Henderson from Symrna? another difficult weight class

    132 - McElhaney vs Landers

138 - Ingram vs Story, Pendley, Wilkins

145 who will give Fuller a run for his money

152- Rippy vs Graham or Fowler

160 Can someone knock off the returning state champ in Sells

170 McMahan vs Smith or Satterfield?

182- Fortner vs Hicks or Salter

195- Spangler vs Johnson or Walling

    220 Boeck vs Demill0

    285 Boykin vs Kramer

I know there is a lot of ways the tournament can fall but just wanting some ideas. We will obviously have a better idea when the brackets are released next week

  5. You might think that, but i promise you if you gave the coaches a choice they would take the duals championships WAY over the individual team title! Sorry but I have put on here before that individual tournaments mean little in way of a teams strength, sorry its the truth and i have been in wrestling long enough to know the difference. I have seen a team win state dual tourney and finish 3rd in individual, first because they only had 9 wrestlers make the state tourney because their region was really tough, so they had less kids with any chance of scoring a single point(it was even much worse when it was follow you man instead of everyone gets a second chance)! I have seen a VERY tough region have 3 placers return, guess what that means, whoever finishes first gets seeded while everyone else gets blind drawn, so that again effects points that might be able to get scored by a team. But again I have seen it, some coaches enjoy those wins or places in individual state tourney, but i promise there are quite a few who care less about the team aspect and MUCH more about their individual kids getting onto that podium! so you can think it's ridiculous but I have been around wrestling a long time, and especially around winning programs that I have seen it, it's where the banner hangs and the plaques get stowed away!

I think any coach would love a first or second place plaque. A state championship is a state championship, no matter what.

  6. I also understand that is the way it would work. Could see TN vs. Bradley or Wilson Central vs. Bradley in the first round.

    Yes that could happen.

That would be stupid of them to do. I understand a team only get seeded by being a returning state medalist and winning the region, but why would you put two returning placers against each other in the first round?

  7. Which it comes down to most points scored and if you receive a forfeit then you cannot score a first point in that match.

At the coach's meeting last year there was some questions about changing the forfeits to more than 6 points. I feel that would help encourage the sport to grow and keep people from forfeiting to the top wrestlers.

    Opinions?
