1. QUOTE(blue devil dad @ May 12 2007 - 02:33 PM) 826458007Just wondering the name of the PF pitcher, He should get some credit for a great performance. Has he been that good all year?

Derrick Metcalf is the kids name. Hes an average pitcher but has the heart of a lion. In my opinion it was the game of his career, or shall I say games.

  2. QUOTE(auburn08 @ May 11 2007 - 03:26 PM) 826457386I think I will stick with Pigeon Forge District Champs and Rutledge gets to host a regional.

    This is correct.

QUOTE(Pfbaseballfan @ May 12 2007 - 12:51 AM) 826457772Though not a reliable source i heard through the rumour mill that he only threw 110 pitches.... 11 innings and 110 pitches earned him the District tournament mvp....along with Rutledge only scoring 2 runs in eleven innings.

135 pitches over 11 innings but still not that bad.

  3. QUOTE(cutoff @ May 12 2007 - 09:55 AM) 826457887So, with a huge lead the coach had him pitch the sixth inning knowing he was going to pitch him in the second game and then did and in the process snatch a championship and home field from the whole team. That should go on his resume and be noted in bold red letters.

Well no one said the coach's decisions made any sense.

  4. QUOTE(wingman10 @ May 11 2007 - 07:55 PM) 826457546No way coach was going to get by with pitching the young man 11 innings.

Like I said it was pretty obvious the rule was broken but it was even more obvious Rutledge got spanked.

  5. QUOTE(wingman10 @ May 11 2007 - 07:47 PM) 826457538why would the PF throw him 11 innings?

In reality because the new coach apparently has some screwed up problem with taking pitchers out. He has been known this season to leave them in far too long, and the team has suffered because of it for the most part.

    But...

On the other hand the kid was dominating the Rutledge hitters in the first game that PF won 15-2. He went six innings and they only scored two runs. I guess the coach could have thought "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" because in the second game he went five scoreless before he was pulled. Pf then brought in a freshmen lefty that Rutledge couldn't hit either.

  6. QUOTE(wingman10 @ May 11 2007 - 07:40 PM) 826457536rules are rules

Oh I know rules are rules and as soon as it happened I knew they would be penalized. I just think it is humorous that Rutledge tried to beat PF with a technicallity because they couldn't beat them by playing the game. It shows thier character.

  7. Here's the official standing according to the Pigeon Forge coaching staff:

Pigeon Forge keeps the 2AA Championship title but,

they lose home field advantage during the regional tournament.

Rutledge has home field advantage for the region tournament.

Thats what TSSAA said today when they looked at the protests.

Personally I think if the kid can pitch 11 inning straight accross two games and hold the opposing team to two runs in two games there should be no excuses made. Rutledge got beat and cried about it.

  8. QUOTE(OutfielderNPitcher217 @ Apr 3 2007 - 11:11 PM) 826429350hahaha....wheres my good buddy SCARfan1624? nothin to say?

hey man so what you beat PF once first time since PF was created big whoop lets see if you can beat anyone else before you start running your mouth.

  9. It seems to me from reading on here in an earlier topic Sevier County feels thier past season records have been misunderstood because they play in such a hard AAA district. Also, that if they played in AA or in a different AAA district they would have alot better record. If this is so, what happened the other day against Union County (an average to poor AA team that plays in the county rival Pigeon Forge's district) who they (Sevier County) lost to? Just curious.

  10. QUOTE(auburn08 @ Mar 13 2007 - 08:34 PM) 826410639How did Pigeon Forge do against Claiborne today?

They won 4-0. They threw thier best but Claiborne is not exactly a powerhouse so it seems the bats are struggling for PF right now.

  11. QUOTE(bballislife32 @ Mar 4 2007 - 03:59 PM) 826399489Lexington still has one starter from that dominant team of 06 in billy keck, but other than that will be young and inexperienced, probably not a shot at state but lexington always seems to have something every year no matter what

they weren't that dominant they were two and out in the state....losing to pigeon forge and goodpasture

  12. QUOTE(Pioneer28 @ Feb 27 2007 - 01:30 PM) 826391750Bottom Line. we aren't even talking about PF baseball if it weren't for Larry and Tyler Cannon. And if there is this plethera of baseball athletes at PFHS, then why have i followed baseball in this county for the last ten years and never heard of any of them. Tyler Cannon went to Virginia to play baseball that's all I've heard. Everyone else couldn't cut it at the next level so someone please inform me if i'm wrong. ( walking on at Maryville does not count)

Yes, Larry Cannon was an amazing coach and Tyler Cannon was an amazing player but one person doesn't win twenty plus games a year.

  13. QUOTE(Pioneer28 @ Feb 27 2007 - 08:38 AM) 826391366Pretty sure most of those games were Tyler Cannon hitting homeruns and pitching a shutout. ALL BY HIMSELF. not really any other players around him. So, either we will see Tyler Cannon in the MLB one day (which is very possible) or AA baseball is so WEAK that ONE good player on a team can take over a game and win it.

Do you realize that Cannon didn't hit one homerun last year and the leading homerun hitter on PF was a freshmen that only hit one all year? and I think Cannon only pitched in one game if at all during the STATE tournament which PF won three games in. I'm pretty sure they saw some good competition there. Its not like he ever had 27 strikeouts, at most I think he ever had was around 10. So I'm pretty sure the rest of the team had something to do with all the wins. Get your facts straight and maybe you won't talk out of your butt anymore.
