Going to put this out there concerning the Ravenwood player topic. Unfortunately, here is an instance where club coaches being in high school ball is an unfortunate situation. This child has played for this coach for years and had no problems and some would tell you was even the coaches favorite. Then the player switches clubs and is no longer with the high school coach’s club and falls out of favor very quickly. It was noticeable to many.

While I hear what you're saying, come on OldBruin, careful with your accusation.  Do you really think a highly respected coach would sabotage their season because she holds a grudge back to club season?  This move makes them a real darkhorse to make the state tournament and may not make it out of district now.  This was their best player, 6 rotation player, that produced a good percentage of their points.  I don't have a dog in the fight but I'm not buying your assertion.

    Harpeth defeats Fairview 3-1...

Looking for the Hickman County/Dickson County score but can't find it anywhere. I imagine DC wins easily, but you never know. I think they are a little down this year.

Why do people not report their scores?!?!

DC won in 3 but don't know the scores.

  3. I rarely comment on these boards but I find this thread to be very interesting.  I especially enjoy the well thought out comments and respect everyone is given.

Osage's last post is dead on right!  Great job TPV Paragon for their win in Orlando.  YOU CAN ONLY BEAT WHO YOU ARE SCHEDULED TO PLAY!  It was impressive to watch them fight through the gold and beat some quality teams along the way including their own 181 team. With that... the field was only 17 teams deep with no team even close to being considered a top level team in 18's.  In fact, the team Paragon beat in the finals, Alliance 181 had beaten at JVA Worlds 25-8, 25-16; which furthers Osage's comments about Alliance 17's and 18's clearly belonging in Open division.

As my daughter transitions out, I'll have more of just a passing interest in the TPV/Alliance rivalry.  But, I do know my daughter was treated well at Alliance and I would have no problem recommending them to anyone that asks.

Please keep this thread alive next season so I can continue to get excellent analysis of both clubs.

The Alliance 181s have completed their schedule. Season is over.

Not quite SJ.  The major part of their schedule is over.  They play 2 local tournaments in May and June.

13's - Nobody in the state can touch Alliance's 13's.  This team has won several regional tournaments the past couple years and finished 3rd twice last year in large National tournaments.  They even won Bluegrass as 11's

14's K2, no competition.  TPV just does not have hitters at this age

15's - Agree with Memphis VBA with K2 a very close 2nd.  Be interesting to see how Alliance does this year.  Their top player moved to TPV and plays on the TPV 16's

16's - TPV will give K2 a serious run here.  I disagree with Alliance having a ball control advantage over TPV.  Alliance lost to TPV their best hitter, defensive player (Both these girls will play in college power conferences), both setters from their 1 team last year are no longer in the program (the 6'4 setter went to TPV and their 2nd setter decided not to play this year).

    17's - Alliance

    18's - Alliance

K2 18s are pretty tough as well. Many D1 commits and several that have been playing on 18s already for 1 or more years.

  6. I totally agree on Nolensville.  Actually, I've seen Camden, Portland, and Nolensville up close this year and there's not a razor's edge between the 3.  I haven't seen Hume Fogg but know they have a couple of powerful hitters on that team.  To beat Portland, you have to somehow neutralize the Bullington kid as their offense totally runs through her, front row and back row.  Camden has one of the top setters in the state who can quickly turn into an offensive weapon if out of system.  They are also well coached; lots of role players on the team that frustrate their opponents.  If Nolensville can stay in system (passing can be suspect), they have some power across the front line.  It's a shame that only 2 of these 4 will make it to state.

  7. RW is getting healthy just at the right time.  Their play in district tournament I'm sure is very encouraging to them.  I do believe Dickson can give them a run.  Odds are not in Dickson's favor but if things start going Dickson's way, you never know...I've seen stranger upsets.

  8. Sara Robertson is the coach.  Almost all play travel.  Libero at TPV, a middle at Club West, both outsides at Alliance, and the rest from Dynamite in Dickson.  Just a bunch of good girls that blend well together on the court.

  9. They took their first loss of the year to Portland, which by the way, look really good for a repeat state championship in AA.  Impressive wins over Station Camp, Blackman, Franklin, and in the finals beat a Georgia team that eliminated Portland in the semis.  Nice to see Dickson competitive again.

I am blown away that Indy lost to Dickson County.  That is a bad loss no matter how you shake it. Indy Should NEVER lose to them.  I am not as surprised as the Lebanon loss (for summit).  I saw them earlier this year and they really are pretty good.  They are coached well and run a quick offense.   It will easily be Ravenwood and Brentwood IMO.  I think Summit will develop.  They have a good libero and a good block up front.  Don't know much about their coach--coaching matters in that district...a lot.

Tonight: Dickson Co. 3 Summit 1 - Guess that's a really bad loss for Summit too... ;-)
