Josh Jones' hiring opened the door for Kevin, Justin Long at Fulton, and others in the same and similar situations.
forgot about that. nonetheless it’s a home run hire. I think he can have success here, although he wasn’t left with much to play with.

fantastic hire for central. Lane should’ve been a head coach a few years ago. no clue why he really has been passed on so much. He’s gonna have to get some guys in and the numbers up. central had maybe 40 guys last year. once he can install excitement within the program they will be back to winning.

would be a fantastic hire

if central comes away from this massive unnecessary long delay with a Joe hassel/Nick craney type of hire then the program will probably puddle down to where karns/south Doyle is.

hopefully pronouns are more accepted down in Georgia

The fall from grace happened when they hired craney. damage is done now. The current hiring process has no bearing on it.

saw someone say they should be really happy. I guess if giving up 38&42 PPG on defense the last 2 years and allowing 13/22 games over that span to eclipse 40 points is a good thing then alright. Lol

why would central hire stevens? I can’t believe that’s true.

He lost kids because he didn't play the right kids. He played up to the parents. Rosser played the best kids available. He wrecked a Ferrari. Rosser keft that team loaded with talent and most of the good kids quit because of the favoritism
bingo. Rosser left him the keys and the model to follow and he did the complete opposite. kids would quit on plays or commit several personal fouls and all he ever did was give them high fives. maybe he will be a better coach later on, but he wasn’t ready and had no discipline. he also filled the staff with guys with little to no previous coaching experience. which was something rosser also didn’t do.

This was long overdue. The program has had no leadership the last 3 years and they barely had 40 kids on the sideline. A new voice was needed.

Final SC 51-20.....SC may not win next week but a good season for the Smoky Bears
I forgot how undisciplined the team and coach is. Guys on the sideline pouting, one kid gave up on a play and the coach said nothing to him. Numerous pre snap penalties. When SC would score some players would clap and say ‘thank you’.. central fielded about 40 guys this year. A drastic drop off from when rosser was there. Frank Johnson should’ve transferred somewhere else this year. Until a change is made west and powell will dominate the region and 5-5 yearly is likely.

7 times? Was he hurt?
He got hurt a few weeks ago against oak ridge and didn’t play against powell. Came back for the heritage game and looked fine and last week he was pretty wobbly so that may be why they aired it out (which they can’t do)
-
Central can keep the game close and possibly win if they make it a point to get Frank johnson going. Last week against Halls he only ran it 7 times which is not their formula to win. I don’t know much about sevier co but the ‘probably won’t be close’ isn’t true.

I mean it is the one the Great Oak Ridge belongs to…. That must count for something?! #RespecttheTradition
yeah they’re good. The rest isn’t. Heritage also lost to the 3rd best team in region 3 tonight so your point is mute.

since that’s such a tough region. Lol

Didn’t age well
nope. especially for a team that’s season ends tonight, win or lose and their best win of the year was a 1 point win over a 3-7 heritage team.

Foolish to not have powell in 5A. Also, there really doesn’t need to be a slash beside alcoas name. No one in the East has a shot at them. Just my 2 cents.

West defense has been very good after halftime these last 3 games...not allowing a single point in the second half.
Offense needs to finish off drives as they left points out there on the fumble strip as well as getting a crucial penalty that made it difficult to get the yards needed for a first down in Halls territory (turned it over on downs). If they can clean this up and special teams do what they did last night - should be a deep run in the playoffs.
Kudos to Halls players and stafff on a heckuva turnaround from last year to this year. Do not count them out from beating Mo West in the first round of playoffs.
Halls has to beat central first to go to mo west. Winner of that game gets them and loser goes to sevier county. I think either way region 2 can sweep region 1.

Lenior City was 5-2 and beat Clinton the week before Heritage won 35-0. I watched the Central at Maryville game and they were horrible. I also watched the West and Powell games and they were horrible. Heritage has more offense than Central right now. You can't turn the ball over 6 times and win the game. Frank Johnson was questional tonight because of a high ankle sprain. There's your answer.
heritage faired no better against maryville, powell and west. Lenoir city’s 5-2 record was fools gold. Heritage is the armpit of high school football. You should’ve known better. You also should’ve added in there that central might be the worst coached team in knox co. I can’t quit laughing at that Hail Mary that was dropped.

47 games to pick this week. Lot of good games this week including eight on Thursday Night on this list.
Last Week 21-2 on Barney's Favorites Week 9
I make no apologies on my picks, I'm just a dog that likes to pick the winners and losers of High School Football games.
superb pick on the central/heritage game. what made you want to pick them? their 35-0 win over a pretty bad LC team? Lol

Yep but its a possibility...i find it funny that its the Thursday night game under the guise that Packer and Co have never done a game at Heritage before and this just happens to be the game that Heritage needs to make the playoffs.
I know, right? Most Thursday games this year haven’t been a rivalry but heritage very much could win that game. Still baffles me that central hasn’t been able to field a competent QB since 2019. That’s their big struggle.

So you think like me that Heritage gets that 4th seed over Central?
that’s brutal and tough to swallow, but possibly. the program is a shell of itself.
Craney steps down at Central
in Class 5A & Class 6A

no. this year no one should expect to see immediate results. over time? yes. central scraped by the skin of their teeth to have a winning record the past 2 years(total) and that was solely because of one person and he’s graduating in a few months. the roster is pretty bare.
