So, I was just told that Heritage is appealing to be in 4a.  Enrollment number sits at 1,194.  Their claim is that the new Eagleton College and Career Academy will lower their enrollment for next year by 100 students or so.  They would definitely be in Region 2.  Does Millington Central get put into Region 7 instead of Region 8?  Which direction will Sequoyah go?  I'm not sure which direction that they won't to go, but they are closer to Knoxville.  Just can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

Historically, Sequoyah goes to Chattanooga region 3. There are 5 4a teams in the Chattanooga area. You need to send Sequoyah down their to have a 6 team region.

It's not kids choosing to go to Eagleton over Heritage... Eagleton middle has always fed Heritage. And since that is no longer happening the numbers will go down at Heritage.

Okay didnt know that. How many 8th graders on average does Eagleton have?

what D1 players are you referring too?  I still say Greeneville goes to state.  They have so much depth, playing guys only 1 way in the lines of scrimmage.  They have about 30 lineman in their big guys group.  They rotate guys in and out on both lines keeping them fresh for 4qtr.  My $ on Greeneville.

Ole Cotton, West would demolish the Cows.

AC has 2 players with D1 Offers. Gavin Noe who commited to Navy and Bryson Vowell a WR who has several D1 offers Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Memphis etc... his largest one being Iowa. But other than those 2 they don't have any D1 talent.

If I was to break them down I'd say this.

Elizabethton did a good job of scheming and used some timely big pass plays. They could chew up clock and limit possessions for AC which means AC had to be very efficient with possessions.  AC came out a bit flat  thinking they had it in the bag. They had to wake up.  That's hard to do against a good team,  which we all agree Elizabethton is.

Against Rhea county it was a turnover fest. AC was clearly better but offensively and defensively  were out of kilter big time.  Nick Moog had some really uncharacteristic fumbles which led to scores by Rhea county on a short field.  Rhea county isn't bad but they're not really good either.  They are young but have potential.  If we play like that against better teams we absolutely lose. I can't remember but wasnt it like 4 or 5 turnovers?  3 of them were on consecutive possessions I think too. I know the one to start the 2nd half we got the ball and fumbled it on our side on play 2 or 3 to start the half. This is HS football with 12 minute quarters we are taking about so a lot less time and fewer possessions than college. That means every possession takes on  extra significance.

But, they kept grinding and got the win.  In the past I've seen them fold in those circumstances.  2 or 3 years ago,  I think... we played Greenville at AC. It wasn't a bad game but a few breaks went against AC. Once they started playing Greenville from behind it got exponentially worse for AC. I watched players start to panic and try to hard to make a play.  One play in particular stands out. We were behind and had forced a punt. Our player had no business trying to catch the ball but he and the team felt the pressure to make something happen.  He tried to field the ball to run it instead of letting it go (we'd have ended up with it on our 20 yd line or so). He fumbled the catch, GV recovered and scored a couple plays later from a short field. The final score was a pretty good margin but AC was in that game for a while.

I bring all that up to say that in  those wins against Elizabethton and Rhea county AC didn't show the same panic or desperate play I've seen before.  There was frustration but for the most part,  they played through that and executed.  That's what I mean by valuable lessons learned.

That is an extremely fair assessment of what Ive seen so far.

Northview is easier to get to for the Region 1 folks, Seymour is easily accessible from Knoxville or Region 2.

That's what I was thinking. Region 1 would have to travel all the way into knoxville then get on I-75 north and travel 15 to 20 mins north to Anderson Co. Northview is close to Interstate 40 just a few miles

Two even matched team it seems. Surprised no thread on these two yet but not surprised if some gangster in Clinton is making threats.

Clinton is pretty deflated right now being eliminated from Post-Season play. They had a lot of hype going in and it is all gone. Feel sorry for their kids and parents. I know they want to be successful.

No, that would put 8 teams in region 2. AC would move to Region 1 with Besty and Greeneville. Atleast my thought?

Going by geography I don't think they send AC north but who knows when it comes to TSSAA. They probably wouldn't want an 8 team region and then a 6 Teams region in region 1. I personally would love an 8 team region from a fan perspective. But I was informed that Alcoa is in fact discussing moving up and they prefer to have all the teams in the area in with them in an 8 team region. I would say that this is obviously all gossip that I've received and I have no way to corroborate that information

4A would not be a big step up....

Region 2 would have Sequoyah,  Northview, Carter, Fulton, South-Doyle, Gibbs & Seymour.

Northview would possibly be moved to Region 1?

Your benefit would be playing AC regular season and Greeneville and Betsy post-season. Tougher road but you would still be favored to come out of the east.

If they send Northview to region 1 I don't think moving up helps with your scheduling issue.

Unless something magical happened and they took the top 4a, 5a, and 6a teams in east Tennessee and put them in a region with you I don't think moving up would be a big step up for you regardless of the division you are in. The only step up in competitiveness would come in post season

I can't answer that....I just know they are not moving up. Which I think would be awesome if they waited until the past minute and shocked some teams that are playing up to avoid them lol.

I really dont think those schools play up again even if they know Alcoa is coming

I was right there with you but I’m hearing this morning Alcoa will move up. Will be interesting to see no doubt. They would be in our region with us in region 2 4A and other area Knoxville schools.

If Alcoa knows those schools won't move up and they get a larger region I think they are coming.

    They are not moving up.

Why wouldn't they? It fixes their scheduling issue. I dont have any inside info about Alcoa, but it makes sense to me. They would still be favored to win the east side of the state. Year end and year out they would be favored to win against AC, Betsy, and Greeneville. It would be tougher games for them for sure compared to what they play regular season now and first few rounds of playoff. I think those State Championship Betsy and Greeneville teams could have or would have beat Alcoa.

Region 1- Chuckey Doak, Unicoi, Johnson County, Claiborne, Gatlinburg-Pittman, Pigeon Forge

( West Greene is in 2A now)

Region 2- Alcoa, Austin East, Union County, Scott, Kingston, Loudon

    Region 3-
Meigs, Tyner, Sweet Water, Brainerd, McMinn Central, Chatt Central

    4A Region 2
Fulton, Gibbs, AC, South-Doyle, Northview, Seymour, Carter.  (If Alcoa plays up they will be in this region)

I believe Alcoa will move up to 4a. That would be an 8 team region and would help them with their scheduling.

Not sure why people on here are still speculating.  This link is the official numbers through 2025. the board voted on Monday "no change".

No change to the number of classifications. Who is in each classification has changed because off  new cut-off numbers and schools changing size. There will be new regions shake-ups

Questions that need to be answered:

Does Rhea County and/or McMinn County play with Knoxville or Chattanooga?

Does Tullahoma and/or Franklin County go with Region 4 (Chattanooga) or Region 5? This balances Regions 1-4 and 5-8.

Does Henry County go to Memphis or with more traditional foes?

I think you send Rhea and McMinn down to chattanooga bring in East Hamilton
