Ive seen the last 37 years of DCA offenses and the combo of the QB/WR/TE is top two. No Mr Football RB but good enough. The OL/DL is where this team is not elite but the kids work hard and compete.

This QB with his running and throwing combination is in the discussion of best ever there. Lots of good ones have passed through there, including an NFL qb, but this kid is a perfect fit for what this team needs.

With that being said DA NCS and FCS are all favored over DCA.

Ok I see where you are coming from, and understand everything you are saying. The QB is good maybe even great but I will say that 2011 QB was the real deal and I dunno if this kid is quite that good. However I do believe that DCA CAN beat any of the other 3 teams remaining, I just don't see it happening but you really never know because they have the most valuable thing in football and scariest things for opposing coaches in high school... A high powered passing attack. I really believe any of the 4 teams can win it all but I think I may have an idea who it will be.

DCA also turned it over inside their own 7 twice to give FCS two tds. Also had two easy td's dropped and #20 scored two tds tge first two series then was injured. Did FCS have turnovers inside their own 7?

Both teams had turnovers the difference is DCAs were catastrophic

Sorry you weren't impressed with them, especially the passing attack since parents and coaches at FCS were. Even people from FCS in this thread made supportive comments.

Once FCS was able to go into the half and make adjustments....  DCA scored 7 points in the second half. All I am saying is that I played against some DCA teams in the past that were much more explosive than this team. Good luck to both teams but my opinion not trying to be "the bad guy" I just know DCA has had some GREAT offenses and if you were to put this one up against those it is very average.

I have watched a lot of film on FC and seen every NCS game. The line play will likely cancel each other out.  As with any high school team though, the team with the best player normally wins games.  FC has not faced a team that can do what NCS does offensively.  I give Brothers credit for scheduling tough competition early in the year. NCS is battle tested. FC does what they do and pretty well, I might add. I think it is foolish for anyone to think this game will be anything other that two fighters standing in the middle of the ring trading blows.  Everyone needs to get ready for a physical night of football

Thanks for the info. Always enjoy an intelligent and civil response. Hope everyone enjoys watching a game of heavy doses of a downhill, physical run game. should be fun.

DCA hasn't been held to less than 4 tds but once this year. They scored 27 against FCS. It would take a great effort to do that.  DCAs offense when the WRs are healthy can cause problems for most teams. Maybe DA can do it but nobody has so far?

It also could be fun to watch if DCA's Sr 6'2" 245 lb  RB/DT/MLB gets loose in the secondary like he did last week. He's arguably the most physically gifted athlete in the history of that school. As a sophomore he had 5 sacks against DA but was coming off an injury last year.

DAs has the most balanced attack  of the remaining teams so it will be a huge challenge for DCA. The mobile DCA QB and the WRs/TE are pretty good too. Should be fun to watch!!

DCA scored 27 points on an FC team that fumbled 4 times to give you those points , and that was because they had a guy carrying the ball with a significant elbow and shoulder injury. I just don't see this DCA offense being what it was in the past. I don't know a lot about DA but they will win. wasn't impressed with DCA. However that was very early in the year.

  5. don't know a lot about NC but what I do know is the NC fans need to take FC seriously because it is just tough for me to imagine that they have what FC does on the interior, but like I said I don't know a lot about NC. The winner of this game wins state IMO.

  6. If this FC team matched up with 2011 or 2012 FC teams there would be a running clock reeeeeal quick. I will say this is a very good FC team, but those teams were just that good. With this said, FC wins by 14 because I believe the all around coaching staff is the best in the division. They will be prepared and get it done.

I don't think they are at all physical like NCS & FCS but they have won each of their last games against those teams. Both on the road as well. The DA offense is pretty special for DIIA football and will be hard to defend by anyone in the playoffs. That's my point. DA does not tackle well but it appears their bend but don't break philosophy of defense works. I'm sure they are thinking the O can do whatever is needed. Will that catch up with them? Possibly. I am looking forward to the NCS/FCS matchup as well as that winner vs DA if that's what happens. Should be some fun games to watch once this week is over.

Thank you for the clarity, I do enjoy being able to have occasional intelligent conversations on here..... Soooo it is safe to say that there are really only 3 teams capable of winning this division?

Off your schizophrenia medication again I see.... I see someone is salty about the realization his team isn't number 1 in the state anymore... no more Teague. Sorry about your luck.

I am not the least bit surprised an MJ fan posted something so ridiculous on here. This is typical behavior. you guys will do what you always do... lose regardless of the round.

The funny thing is how everyone said we would get killed by DA. Brothers didn' go for it on a 4th and 1 the second series of the ball game after NCS had established it was the more physical team that night.  I think it is also funny how nobody talks about the poor tackling by NCS that game. Hewitt was hit in the backfield the first play of the game. Honestly, DA doesn't bother me at all. I feel great about that game. LOTS of holes in the DA defense by a team that wants to be physical. I am more concerned with FC. They seem more like us. I firmly believe the winner of that game wins state.

I will say even though I have not seen DA play this year. In the past they have been more of a finesse team than a physically imposing team. If they are a team that only THINKS they are physical and WANTS to be they cannot beat NCS or FC.

I agree on all 1's & 2's making semis but I have DA beating NCS in championship game. That NCS/FCS game is gonna be a fun one. FCS's fantastic front vs NCS's great RB. I think whichever team makes it out of that game will have a tough time slowing the DA offense enough to win though.

I have seen FC play a number of times this year and I hear the DA offense is good. (ALWAYS ARE) but I have a hard time believing the FC defense can't slow that offense. they have a DC that is one of the best around, and some unbelievable leaders on the D. With this said,I have yet to see DA this year.

I have no issue with him being mentioned at all. He is a great player.

Glad we can agree. Also I will be honest I know him very well, and what I will say about him is he would rather win a state championship than mr. football. Much like all the other players mentioned I assume. Thats what it is all about. Hope everyone stays healthy.

  12. Have no problem with the kid. Great player and even better kid but not more deserving than Foutch. The problem is, I have no issue with who wins the award, I was just letting people know I believe he deserves it. Will I sleep the same if he doesn't win the award? Yep, but it seems you have a problem with my opinion which is fine but we are to the point now where I am saying and have already stated that STATISTICALLY he isn't deserving but he is the best player on what I BELIEVE is the best team in the division.

Just out of curiosity, have you seen any of these kids play who do not play FCS??? Hewitt? Myers? Norton? It doesn't sound like it to me so I'm not sure you can really speak on his behalf and compare him to anyone other than Hylick. If you have not seen these others, how can you possibly say Speedy can do things other backs can't? I have seen him and he is really special. He would be solidly in my top 3 had he not missed games due to injury. The fact he did not play much O vs TKA hurts him as well as the bulk of the carries that night went to another back. He is just as good as Hewitt and Myers IMO but the stats don't place him among the elite for the Mr Football award. If I were voting for this award he would finish 2nd on his own team behind Smith.

Was perfectly fine with everything you just said until the last sentence. You are hilarious.

That's not how awards like this work... I realize he is a good player and has speed, but his numbers aren't as impressive as the others on this list. I just watched his highlights and he is definitely quick, breaks tackles, and has good vision. This award is usually won on stats though, and RBs like Xavier Myers, Hewitt, and Hylick have better stats. All 4 backs are impressive.

And I will not argue the numbers. I also believe they are all deserving. No hard feelings for the difference in opinion. I also agree he will probably not win it although i believe he should at the very least get a little more consideration. All I am saying at this point is even though this has NOTHING to do with the award I hope everyone gets a chance to see him play in the playoffs. Good luck to everyone who has a dog in the fight BTW.

  15. It is the most wonderful time of the year folks! Lets make some picks whether it is with your heart or just going with your gut lets see what we come up with. I am sure there will be a few disagreements but that is to be understood.

In the biggest games of the year, Xavier has shined the most. Like other running backs, he is out by the second half.

Below are his stats in those games:

    • BGA (first game back from injury) - 37 carries, 226 yards, 2 touchdowns, one TD on a 32 yard screen.
    • FRA - 22 carries, 220 yards, 3 touchdowns
    • DA - 36 carries, 332 yards, 4 touchdowns
    • TRA (must win game for 2nd seed) - 22 carries, 389 yards, 7 touchdowns

So in those 4 games, 117 carries for 1,167 yards and 16 touchdowns, with one TD reception. Very impressive.

He is absolutely deserving along with others. If he wins I am not saying it would be wrong in any way. HE SIMPLY DESERVES IT. I just want to put you guys on notice... If you have not seen "speedy" play you will be shocked if/when you do. He can do things other backs just don't do. the numbers do not tell the whole story especially considering he had a significant injury about midway through the season and could have rested but decided to play through the injury. Again, are there others deserving also? Absolutely, and even if he isn't handed the award, you will get to see more than you will ever want to in the playoffs.

I would like to throw out the name Jajuan "Speedy" Foutch (#3) from Friendship Christian School.  Jajuan has 97 carries for 1,196 yards, with an average of 12.3 yards per carry and 19 TD's rushing through 8 games.  I realize that there are others with more yards and very deserving, but Speedy has not touched the field in the second half 4 times and has played all 4 quarters only twice.  He is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands and has tremendous speed.  He is being recruited by several D-1 and FCS programs alike.

This is the best football player in the division. If you have not had a chance to watch him I apologize because you are missing out. Great kid and very deserving. He will punish people in the playoffs.

  18. Friendship Christian has a Running Back that is very deserving! He has put up some unreal numbers much like many others in the loaded RB division. The only difference is he has had little to no production in the 4th quarter this year.... Because they are up so bad. this needs to be taken into consideration when the award is handed out. the numbers are there regardless of the number of snaps. Oh yeah, not to mention he is on very possibly the best team in the division.

  20. Things will not be any different than years past. MJ probably wins Friday although I am not as confident as some, but in the long run will fall as they always do well before the highly anticipated raise of the gold ball that the fans always seem to believe they can win. Certain teams just find a way to finish with the same results every year.
