    1. Alcoa- even though folks kept saying the Tornados were down, that their talent pool was running dry and they were beatable in 3A, Alcoa won its 3rd straight title and 11th in the last 14 years. Alcoa's average score in the playoffs was 39 to 6.8 and that includes late TDs given up to opponents when the 2s and 3s were in. Rankin says they will be better next year...

    2. Covington- Well coached. good team with some dynamic athletes. only losses were to Alcoa in title game and an early season game. Handled previously undefeated Raleigh -Egypt 35-16 in the playoffs. They pulled the upset of the playoffs with the win over PC in the semis.

    3. Pearl Cohn- Manned up and played a tough schedule to get ready for the playoffs. Were ranked #1 by some people before playoffs started. gutted out some close wins against tough teams like CPA and Marshall. Lost by 3 TDs to Cookeville. Lots of talent and dominated most teams they played in 3A. Lost in Semis to a good Covington team.

    4. Austin East - some great athlete and improved coaching has the roadrunners climbing back towards the top. Lost to Fulton by one TD and had two losses to Alcoa by a combined score of 62-21.

    5. Red Bank- Made it to the semis. Lost to Alcoa in that game 34-0

    6. Kingston- Well coached team. Fell off with a late season upset loss but until then had only lost to AE and Alcoa. Had the lead on AE at the half ( I think)

7-Milan- tough year for the Bulldogs but the two close losses to Covington 27-28 and 14-21 show that the Bulldogs belong at number 7.

8.Johnson County- Had a great season and pushed AE in the playoffs before falling 30-21. Congrats to the Longhorns on an undefeated regular season.

    9. Raleigh Egypt- Undefeated regular season but not really any quality wins lost 35-16 to Covington in the 3rd round

10 - Fairview - a 1 point double OT loss and a losses to larger schools were the only blemishes on their regular season record. made it to the 3rd round of playoffs before falling to PC 41-17

Move a-e up to 3 rd and johnson county to 5 th and u have it

    The F5 Roll!

JC watched film of last game.  Alcoa scored on a trick play and a int return could have been closer.. looked like Alcoa was working on the kicking game.  Alcoa is worried enough to call jc coach for a clear film on last week's game.  Should be  a great game.  Best of luck to who ever wins..

Can't speak for hampton or clouland or hv. But jc will return.  Clouland should be pretty darn good next year,  they have a young team that is well coached.  Playoff experience killed jc this year.  Jc coaches and players will learn from their mistakes.  I agree region 2 does play on a higher level with very good athletes but jc with tough hard nose mtn boys will adjust and soon over take.  Go horns

One thing we learned is our mistakes beat us not ae.  Ae can run tho

Tell me about this Cloudland team that spanked region 2???What year?Maybe 15 years ago??GB hasnt lost to them nor has Coalbucket.

Hampton in 05,06,07 and 15 we're pretty good Cloudland only beat Midway in 05 and 2012 and then last year they beat Harriman that's the only region 2 teams they can say they've beaten in the past 14 years.

And unless horn1 has got him a set of braces that would be the only Gap that would be closing,as far as region 1 and 2 is concerned NOT!

If AE is missing their starting QB this one will not be pretty.  I always say that once you reach the Quarterfinal Round of the State Playoffs everyone is good enough to win it all.  It's almost like being "cheated out of a golden opportunity" to have such a setback at this stage.

Hunter should be back for this one.

Good luck with basketball season. Alcoa should be pretty good next year as well. Not sure about the gap closing. I think if JC was in Region 2 this year, they might have been a 4th place team, maybe 3rd. However, I would have taken Kingston over JC. So, I’ll go with 4th. That’s pretty good tho!!

West greene had about 12 kids out in that game with kingston.  Pretty much jv team.  Ae beat most of those teams by 30 and so did alcoa.  Jc probably finishes 3rd.  Alcoa still has the best team and should win rematch.  Ae probably a year away, not enough seniors.  Good team tho

We wish we could have rematch.  Big turnover in 4th with 836 to go.  Def just got a big stop we are up 21 to 17 offense fumbled next play.  That's the way it goes, hadn't happened all year.

We are playing basketball now.  But A-E thinks they can beat alcoa that means we can too because we should have won that game.  I think gap is closing between region 1 and region 2.  Should be quite a season next year for jc as well with alot of the team returning.

So let me get this straight... they go 10-0, have best season in school history, go back and forth with one of best teams in the state, and you’re gonna come on here with your first post ever and say it was coaching?

Sounds like Junior didn’t get to play much tonight...

Who ever  said this did not play in 1988.  We were brothers.  Alot people said they played but I know better.

What difference does it make. Whoever wins this game will get a major spanking against Alcoa. Rankin will beat A-E by 50 if he gets a chance. Johnson County is one of the best stories in high school football in 2017.

Thanks for the compliment,  we are going to ride this season as long as we can. Go Longhorns! !!!!

We played AE and Alcoa back to back.(GP) If AE played on turf I could see maybe close game, but they play in the mud just like JC.  The 2nd best team in region 2 will drive 2  1/2 hours very few AE fans will make the trip. Johnson CO. fans will pack the place out and you hope that will help but it won't AE by 4 tds .

Not sure about that score.  Could be right but nv and uc were in the game in the 4th.  Both got blowed out in 4th.  We want because we play alot of kids.  2 good teams they played they lost.  Everyone else was about 5 and 5 with exception of kingston.   We know they didn't play anybody because gp beat them

Ohhhhhhhhh he got us.... Ram Train baby !!!

Hard to tell how good meigs is by who they played.  Should be a physical game because hv is .  So if meigs is a finesse team hv has edge but if they can do both meigs probably has edge.  Still hv with their playoff experience and def will be a tough out.  Go warriors

Horn1 I'm on board. Have been all my life! GO HORNS!

I'm glad all u longhorn fans are on board.  I think all the talkers have hushed since we beat nv.  Ae has a really good football team with alot of experience.   Should be one great game.  The boys are  excited about this one and are ready to play.  Mistakes , turnovers , penalties is what this one comes down to.  Ae may be favored but home field may even that out.  Should be one fun game to watch. Ae fans be careful on the drive up.  About 2hr 20 min drive.
