Why all the talk about Science Hill, Dobyns Bennett, Alcoa, Knox West, Powell or Bearden? Greeneville did not play any of those teams. No one on Greeneville's schedule (counting playoffs) has won double digit games in 2023. Macon County was 11-2 (both losses to Upperman) and Smith County was 10-3. Greeneville's big advantage is playing at home and for that they should be favored but I don't understand the references to teams Greeneville did not play. This game should be a good one.

Greeneville did play Alcoa and Dobyns Bennett. Weather kept them from finishing the games.

I tend to think as you do. Moog, the Mavs great all purpose back, great student and exceptional person tried to get Hall to lay down or go to the sideline in real time.

I have went back and watched it a couple of times. He was on the sideline for the official timeout to get him off the field, a play that had a false start, and a play that went no where. So after staggering around and showing clear confusion as to where he was at he might’ve been out of play for two minutes of real time. I’m not a doctor but I don’t believe that’s enough time to be assessed for a concussion. On top of that it appears he puts hisself back in the game and no one does anything to stop it. No young person is going to want to leave the game. That’s where adults come in.

I’m late to the conversation. Had a busy day. The 2019-20 Betsy teams had a bunch of bully’s on the O-Line. In my opinion, that was the biggest plus for them. They kept a young Rollins clean and made running the ball easier. 2021 had a good line and now a Senior, Rollins was such a dual threat that, even when plays broke down he could salvage something from it. Witten will always get the most out of his players. But not having a dominant line to keep the QB clean is always a problem. And they got exposed last night by the D Front of AC. I thought EHS needed to roll out more, throw more quick hitters and slants, and for the love of potato, why don’t we EVER use the tight end in the passing game? Can anyone remind me who our most famous football alum is? You’d think……oh well. Good luck Mavs and G-Men. Represent Quad 2 and let’s try to maintain that dominance. BDD out!

    Who coaches the secondary?

Yes Elizabethton loses a lot.  They will still finish 1st or 2nd in the conference. Then in playoffs who knows. Their 3 year run of winning the state 2 times and finishing 2nd will not be matched I don’t think anytime soon by them. I know people say their middle school is loaded but I don’t see it because the same thing was said about the classes playing now.

I think they play too much into what they did in middle school. The senior classes that won state in 19 and 20 never won anything in middle school. They always got whipped by Gville and Liberty Bell. And they turned out just fine, so I think we can be proud of what they do in middle school. But let’s stop acting like that is going to determine future success.

I myself was real worried when they went straight pass mode. But in actuality they may have been better to mix it up but they just kept passing thinking they would break one and I was for sure they would too.

I thought making the AC QB have to beat us would be our best shot. Turns out the secondary were letting people run free most of the night. Congrats on moving on Mav.

I said o line was bad and got blasted and called names on here. The wildcat was just bad play calling it didn’t do good last week and was a waste this week. Seems like after the Greeneville loss Elizabethton checked out.

That wildcat/heavy package had issues all season. I would’ve either really worked to clean that up early in the season or done away with it all together. Most of the time it was a snap issue.

Rollins during the game broke the Maryville all-time passing yardage record, a mark that had stood for 38 years. The sophomore quarterback in his 16th game boosted his career total to 4,358 yards, surpassing the 4,252 yards set by Pat Moyer in 1985.

I think it’s pretty clear at this point that Bryson as well as others were let down in the recruiting process. I watch kids every Saturday that are getting athletic scholarships to play QB, Bryson could run circles around the vast majority of them. No way he is D3.

Makes sense. I guess that’s why there we’re more people there to support Hampton than Betsy. I was trying to figure out WTF was going on.

All championships are special in their own way. But I don’t think there is a feeling like that first one. The Tullahoma community brought that energy that we brought in 2019 cause it was their first one. If Hampton can do it in basketball again this year it will be special for sure, but it won’t feel like that first one.

I agree and yea we set and attendance record at the state championship in 2019 and the place was crazy with cyclones fans and 2020 was pretty crazy as well.In 2019 when our players were walking to the stadium were so loud they said they could hear us like we were in the stadium and I will never forget that feeling because I had waited for a lot of years for a state championship.

2019 was a special time. 2020 we did the best with the restrictions that were in place. But that 2019 game was an absolute spectacle. The roar of that crowd before the game was insane. I’ve never been to a high school football game like that one. After the 2020 game it was more of a sense of relief than accomplishment. Defense of a title is a completely different ball game than chasing it.

That is a bit different. Are you on the road to support your son in person today? I pull for them.

He’s on bye this week and got to come home last night. That’s the only reason I went to the game last night. He will go back tomorrow.  After the last five weekends on the road I’m thankful for the bye. These 600 mile Saturdays are making me an old man quickly lol.

Same story in Gvegas last night. People left at 1/2 time.  But it was across the board. GHS band boosters are probably above average for football support. Band sits far left section facing the field with student body next to them.

I can understand when the weather isn’t great and the game is a blowout. But it was 14-7 (somehow) at halftime. It took Northview getting tired for Betsy to pull away.

All I have to say half stands left after band performance I’m going to AD Monday first come first served sitting for playoffs after the thousands I put in program I will make this happen

That’s been going on forever. The band people eat up the season tickets and roll out after halftime. When my son played I could never get season tickets myself, I had to buy them from someone on the secondary market. Lol. When he was done I stopped buying them.

As far as CoacT, I am yet to see a Cyclone act out of nature that is disrespectful, I will say passion is one thing and joking is fun but Cyclones fans are good people on CoachT and you cant beat Lawnman he has put up with my passion in the past! IMO

You’ve always been a good sport mav.

U shouldn't really have to separate fans if the fans have any class whatsoever. All it requires is being a decent person to not do things like that. Like you said, we don't know what happened over there on that side, however I did have Elizabethton people flipping off me, my mom, and my brother as we were trying to leave. And that was in the parking lot, not in the stadium

There are far too many things in life that shouldn’t have to be done to begin to list them, but people are people and most can’t be trusted to do the right thing. As far as the actions in the parking lot, I’m sure some of that went both ways. It doesn’t make it right by no means but that’s why I recommend trying to keep the fans separated.

DB hasn't had a problem till Elizabethton came to town

I highly doubt that. At this point we still don’t know that there was a problem. I just don’t think it’s wise intermingling the fans. Every fan base has people that take it too far.  No need in taking the chance of them being near each other.

Now we got some women on Facebook trying to stir up drama saying our student section was spitting on their color guard and the sparkle squad. None of which is true but still crazy. I'm sure words were exchanged from both sides but what do they expect having their people on the visiting sideline and stands. Recipe for a problem. You'd think with all the millions they spent on visual upgrades they would add more visitor seating or seating in the endzone for the band.

Anytime you force the two sides together you are asking for trouble. Kind of like Anderson County can afford a Jumbotron and excessive firework entrances but no visitor stands. But “who has it better”……..
