First time doing this since 2005. You look at our team and just see a tough group that plays hard. Much to respect to Greenfield, but comments saying you hope we get blown away is in fact classless. Not saying we beat the GC’s or whomever if we make it to the Boro. Fact is these girls deserve this and have made everyone proud by doing something that hasn’t been done in a while

I apologize for my comments.  I took the disrespectful actions of a couple of knuckleheads and applied it to an entire fan base, which is an unfair assessment.  Also, after reading the post with a cool head, I can see how my comments could be seen as a shot at the team.  This was most definitely not my intent, but sometimes when you’re typing while angry, things can sound worse than you intended.  Peabody’s team played with class and fought hard.  They are a good team and I wish them well moving forward!

When people feel the need to kick other while they are down, it really get under my skin, but this is not the forum to vent those frustrations.  From now on, I’ll follow Danny White’s advice and text a buddy lol.

Two teams that will likely run into each other again down the road as both are Single A teams. Chloe’s sisters will be in HS in a few years. Greenfield will not be going anywhere and have two really good coaches in HS and Jr. High. Heard Glisson was out or was lost during the game. She guarded Madison Hart pretty good. That didn’t help at all.

Yeah, she went down with a knee injury in the 3rd quarter.  Not sure how bad, but the way she was screaming, it did not sound good.  Prayers for her!  Hopefully nothing serious.

Greenfield has better guard play than Gleason and they can shoot the 3 better. Greenfield is very discipled and they don't panic when pressured. I think that Peabody/ Greenfield is a tossup rn... could see either team winning.

The keys for Greenfield are definitely handling the press and rebounding.  Other than Darby, our girls can get flustered by a quick team that presses full court.  Also, our lack of size hurts our rebounding.  If we can take care of the ball and box out, I think we have a good chance.  Biggs and Crouse have really turned it on here lately and are knocking down 3s like crazy.  Peabody should be a good game.  I’ve heard great things about their team being quick and having a couple guards that can really shoot.  Hopefully we can pull this game out and make another trip to state.  Either way, our girls have exceeded my expectations considering all that they lost from last years team.  Coach Tori is a great coach and will have them in the mix for years to come.

It is at MTSU last we heard. Don’t know details yet on attendance. Hopefully they loosen up.

I don’t know if this is true or not, but I’ve heard they are clearing the gym after each game to allow each team to have all of their fans in the gym.  Hopefully it’s not true because I enjoy watching all of the games throughout the day

The poster that brought Westview in to this convo was by a person who just created their profile on Monday according to their profile. Probably a kid.  Sportslover88 is the only Westview "fan" that I'm aware that even posts on CoachT in basketball and maybe 2-3 other posters in football season. GC will stand up for ours and some of us will stand up for honorable programs who play and respect the game the right way. Most, if not all, of us at GC pull for Greenfield when they're not playing us or contending with us for some title. Of the WV fans/coaches/players I know and have known from WV, they stay farther above the fray than some of us Single A supporters in here and I don't think they really care about anyone else' opinion or comments and some have told me how they laugh at some of the comments made on here.  On another note, my son just called me and said there's a change.org petition which has been started by someone with over a 1000 signatures addressed to the TSSAA. I don't think it'll change anything, but I do think it's great that people are letting the TSSAA know their feelings on the matter.

I understand, and we pull for West Tennessee teams when we’re not playing them.  Greenfieldfan and I are the only Greenfield fans that I’m aware of on here.  Other people are fans of other teams or are people who just created accounts.  I just can’t stand their comments being made into generalized statements about our town/fanbase being cocky and arrogant.

  6. If you’ll notice, both GC and Westview were brought into the conversation by fans from their own fanbases because they couldn’t stand people from other fanbases talking about how good the Greenfield team is.  After that, people from other fanbases argued with GC and Westview fans.  Please quit trying to paint Greenfield fans as terrible and arrogant people.  We can’t help other people saying that we are a good team.  But to get back to the point if Westview and GC fans don’t insert themselves into the conversation, nothing would have ever been said about their teams.

He obviously didn’t see the 2009-2010 GC Lady Pioneers who went 70-1 and had three Div-1 players. He obvuously was asleep when Heather Butler went through the Glass House for two years.

Here how GC was introduced to the conversation.

Went to the Greenfield vs Gibson County region championship game and I completely agreed with everything that happened except the co-mvp’s. Just because two good players are on the same team, doesn’t mean that you should have to spare one of their feelings for an award. It’s crazy how a D1 prospect can influence the opinions of basketball fans and coaches. A D1 scholarship doesn’t make you a good player. It’s almost one of the saddest things when a player can get overlooked by a scholarship, when she is clearly the better player. There should be no comparison between the two. Sparing a players feelings doesn’t make them better, it makes them soft. Greenfield wouldn’t be Greenfield without Chloe.

People discount the importance of Tess Darby far too much.  She is a dead-eye 3pt shooter, our lone post presence, our best rebounder, and our best post defender by far.  Also, she is the anchor on the back end of our press.  Even if you break the press, she is probably going to block your shot, steal the ball, or force you to back off the fast break.  She has a different role from Chloe, but that doesn't make her any less valuable.  Chloe's role on the team is just far more visible when watching the game because of her play making ability for others and herself, along with her ability to take over games with her elite athletic ability.  I do agree that co-MVP's are not my favorite and Chloe probably should win the award, but people act like Tess is a scrub sometimes and it's simply not true.

Greenfieldfan, what’re your thoughts on Greenfield holding the ball for the last 1:30 of the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter?

I didn’t like the fourth quarter stalling, although I understand it.  It resulted in 4 or 5 straight turnovers.  I like slowing it down and making them get out of the packed in zone, but try to score.  It’s basketball, not keep away.  However, I think Coach T did it because our top 3 players had some foul trouble and he was scared of them fouling out.  After our top 6-7 players, it gets very thin on players who are ready to play at this stage.  As far as the last 1:30 of the 3rd quarter, I had no problem with it.  Save the last shot for us, try to get GC out of the zone, and keep one of our girls from picking up a 4th foul.

  10. I would say the 3 favorites for 1A are Chloe Moore, Karly Weathers, and Tess Darby.  There may be some girls from East TN that I don't know about, but these seem to be the top players in at least West and Mid-West TN.  All 3 have been nominated for Miss Basketball in previous years, with Chloe Moore winning it last year.

Middle College is not  anything to go by are they??

They have a lot of speed and run a weird offense that is hard to defend.  They are not going to win state or anything, but they have a good team.  Again, in my opinion, 1-4 are on their own level, then 5-20 are all about even.  Some teams in the 5-20 are better than others, but I don't think any of them are blowing out the other.  Whereas, Lake County, Huntingdon, South Pittsburg, and Greenback are going to blow out most any other 1A team they play.

We gonna bring a crowd, look forward to Friday night

I look forward to it.  There's not much room on the visitor side bleachers, so tell everyone to bring lawn chairs.  I hate Wimpy's won't be open for y'all to eat before the game!

Who will shine for LC Friday? Will starters play or will they come out? Of course, everyone I see is praising Greenfield because of their record, but I'm hearing nothing but great things about this LC team! Will the starters come out once it is a blow out, or will this be the game the begin to stay in? Of course you want no star player injured, but do you risk it? What about Greenfield? Do they have any star players, or has their opponents been "that weak"?

We have a good running back named Keylon Thomas #6, but I don't see him being able to get out of the backfield with the swarming defense Lake County has.  Lake County has made a major commitment to the weight room, and it shows by the size and speed of their defense.  Against normal defenses, he is rushing for 100+ yards in a game.  Our strength of schedule has not been great this year, but we did beat another top 10 opponent in Memphis Middle College.  I believe we have a good team, but the top 4 in the state are just on a different level.

Not saying anything negative about Greenfield, it's very impressive how far Coach Pitt has brought this program. But their fans seem to think they have a top team in 1A. They're about to learn there's levels to this

I don't know who is saying that.  I thought we had a chance last year, and we learned quickly they were at a different level.  We have a very good team for us, but LC has a team that doesn't come around a lot for small 1A teams.  I just hope we can give them a competitive game.

Turnovers and penalties killed us in this game.  We had 3 turnovers and 130 yards in penalties.  We need to work on cleaning up the turnovers and penalties if we want to beat good teams.  It seemed like every time we had a good drive going, a holding or personal foul would get called and it would kill the drive.  Also, we did a good job of containing the running back for most of the game, but at the end they put Kimble at QB and spread it out. It was almost impossible to stop.  We all know he can run, but he also has a cannon.  If I was the Fulton County Coach, I would keep him at QB.

For comparison, they had 1 turnover and 35 yards in penalties.  As General Neyland said, the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

  18. This game used to be an easy W on our schedule, but Coach Briggs at Fulton County has turned them into a competitive team.  They are a big team and have one of the best running backs in the area.  We were able to slow him down last year, but we lost several seniors off of that defense.  If Greenfield can pull this game out, it looks like Greenfield vs. LC could be two undefeated team battling it out on Oct. 25.  How do y'all think this game goes?

I'm not selective with data. It is what it is. Why remove data if they actually played a game?

Because Freedom Prep hasn't played anyone at the same level as Greenfield.  If you take out the Greenfield game, then you have a comparable schedule to make decisions on how good Middle College's defense is compared to Freedom Prep.  I think there are only 3 teams (South Pittsburg, Huntingdon, and Lake County) that are much better than the rest of 1A.  I think the rest of the top 10 in 1A is pretty even and can beat each other on any given day.  I think Freedom Prep and Middle College are pretty evenly matched schools.  It's not that I'm saying Freedom Prep has a bad defense because Greenfield learned last year that they are pretty good.  I'm just saying against evenly matched opponents they wouldn't be posting shut outs every game.

I think Wimpy's is open again. Or maybe they are in process of a remodel.

They have it remodeled and ready to open, but the owner says he can't find anyone to work.  Right now, it is being used for private events.  Hopefully we can make it to the LC game at 8-0.  It would make for a great game atmosphere!  We have to take care of a couple of games before then though, so we better not look ahead.

According to the Shelby Metro Sportsblog website, FP is scoring 43.2 ppg and MC is scoring 46.2 ppg. They are listed as numbers 1 & 2 in Shelby County. Also, according to the same website, FB is tied for 1st, having not been scored upon in 4 games. MC is ranked 8th of in Shelby County, only having 42 points scored on their D in 4 games this season Therefore, my over/under is as follows:

    O/U = 35, FP by 1 TD.

If you take out the Greenfield game, Middle College has only allowed 1 TD the whole year.  I think the fact that Freedom Prep has not allowed a TD is a little overblown because of the competition they have played so far.  I think this game will be a high scoring dogfight and I think it's a coin toss as to who wins.
