  1. I am sorry but here's the truth...  I've watched this program from its inception. The current administration is too lazy to do what's necessary to have a competitive program. If you care ask them these questions. 1) did you call the successful programs near you to ask if they have any coaches who might fit. 2) did you ask successful program administrators how they got the right candidate. 3) did you contact everyone who sent in interest on your job. OR did you just sit around and pat each other on the back and make excuses why you aren't trying to help your students. With current issues you might want to try to hire someone who can help

  2. I wonder if they have contacted any of the successful programs around about their coach or spoken with their head coach about any assistants he might have that would make good head coaches. The problem with most of these programs is they want to use excuses, not try to find a good coach, not think outside the box and stand behind their hire. Instead it's poor pitiful us... we just can't get the kids, the coach, the money... nope it's you won't work---  most of this is the administration being too lazy, too scared and too satisfied with their job to care about the players, kids or community.

  3. Problem is TSSAA. When they defend referees, umpires etc even when they are wrong they destroy the accountability. I referee and umpire. I hate to hear the "can't get refs because of fans". Bull can't because theirs no accountability and good ones are rewarded and are stuck cleaning up for TSSAA putting subpar guys on the fields. Refs and umps who love and respect the players and the game still are appreciated by coaches, players and fans but shocking not TSSAA officials. Refs and umps don't even get passes to go watch games.

  4. First- Do schools really want to win or is it lip service?  I've watched high school football in my area for over 50 years and have watched good programs and bad ones. Good ones don't accept losing and figure out a way/ ways to fix issues. Bad ones just use excuses 1) no athletes 2) can't pay what .. pay 3) kids are different 4) can't get good assistants.
if you want to win 1) find winning program and recruit their coach or ask who they have 2) think outside the box - don't be cookie cutter 3) be brave and supportive in hiring 4) give contract and expectations just like colleges

yes it can be done, yes kids deserve it, excuses or answers

Wasn’t that a two point conversion at the end to keep the game from going to overtime? Meigs not having a kicker that year turned out to be a good thing. Swafford was tough to stop three yards out.

im partial to the 2018 game though when tc qb keyvont baines ran 29 times for 212 and 3 TDs!

One of the greatest high school games I've ever seen and we lost. Baines ran wild Meigs threw it all over the field, dropped pass in 2nd Q in end zone, bad snap on the 1 and pick 6 for TC. Still remember the TC fans being horrible before but amazing after. Players still talk about the respect. TC Radio earned major respect that night.

You know the answer to that. You hit me with that pose a while back. Carroll ran it 28 times against your Warriors.

Tyner shut him down however in the run game and pass game. I dont think he had 30 yards passing or 40 yards rushing. If i had to guess I would say he had 20 to 25 rushes to get those yards and Tyner made him earn them and a lot of times he lost yards.

Huckaby however won us that game. He dropped two punts down inside the 5. One from outside the 50 on the 1 yard line. Another down to the 3 yard line. Then he ran a huge punt back from midfield down to around the 10 and with a late hit it got spotted near the 5 and Carroll punched it in. He also had the trick play where he caught the little swing pass and hit Shaver for a 60 yard bomb in full stride for a touchdown after halftime and losing to Tyner at the time.

He has done this all year. He has done this for three years. Big catches, interceptions for touchdowns, huge punts to change field position, tons of yards after the catch, and a lot of stripped balls for fumbles.

He might only get several touches a game as compared to Carrolls' 30 but they are just as valuable.

    Good luck with Westmoreland.

I would like to see a rematch in Decatur

Huge catch as a soph against Trousdale where he broke his foot. Missed state title game. Has worked very hard to get where he is. Congrats

  7. Coach Fitz mentioned culture, standard of excellence

    2014 6-5 1st rd

    2015 4-6 no playoffs

    2016 10-2 2nd rd loss to Forrest

2017 12-1 quarterfinal loss to Rockwood (last home loss)

2018 13-1 semifinal loss to Trousdale

2019 13-2 Finals loss to Peabody

2020 14-1 Finals loss to Peabody

    2021 9-0

thats culture that's a standard  but it's ALL of Meigs  Baseball, Softball, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Volleyball, Boys Golf All to state tournament in last 7 years  Good coaches, Good Administration, Good players, Good Hometown Support

Great is a word often confused with good, & good with average  At Meigs we're good close to great
