  1. Concerning the Macon vs. Cumberland matchup, I wouldn't expect Cumberland to win, but I can't begin to express how proud I am of this CCHS team and the job everyone has done in bringing life back to the program. CCHS sits at 5-4 right now. A couple fo their losses could have gone their way. They have continued to improve throughout the season and may have a chance against Macon this Friday. The conditions will be cold and wet and I'm not sure if that favors either team. I do know #22 for Cumberland County is legit. He is a threat to score every time he touches the ball, whether in the passing game or punt/kick return.

I have zero respect after the stunt Stone just tried to pull during the handshake. Some of their coaching staff was acting like fools and  mouthing and players attempted to start a fight with our boys. Such a silly mess of a program they have over there right now. Very undisciplined and will get them nowhere. Tigers get the win 21-19.

CCHS vs SMHS was very dirty, too. SMHS had 9 or 10 personal fouls in the first half (I lost count). This has been a problem for SMHS all season. It was likely the reason they lost to Lenoir City earlier in the season. Real discipline issues there and since its been going on all season, the head coach should be held accountable. He's done nothing to fix it, therefore you have to believe he endorses it.

Agreed, what the casual fan does not know is how well our strength and conditioning has been.

For the first time in a long time we are bigger, stronger, and faster than Stone. We should win the game tonight and start our own streak going forward.

Hope they are ready to hand over the trophy tonight.

Word on the street is they say they can't find the king of the mountain trophy. Convenient time to lose it, right when we are about to TAKE it.

That's hilarious! Enjoy the game tonight.

  4. I like the CCHS defense. They're a pretty tough bunch and the secondary has been very good. The offense has done what was necessary in their 3 wins. That seems to be Coach Rap's style. He wants to run it and shorten the game...keeping the opponent's offense on the sideline. This offense could be more explosive and put up more points if they threw it more. They have one kid for sure who can stretch the field.

The SMHS offense has scored several times this season with a scrambling QB who just threw it up and the receiver made a play. I don't think those kinds of plays will go their way tonight.

I think CCHS wins for the first time in about a decade.

excited  for this matchup. with cchs being improved by a big margin, i still think stone is better. QB for stone is the difference maker.. If cchs can contain him ball games up in the air.

I've heard Stone has been using two quarterbacks recently. I'm not sure if its due to injury or scheme like CCHS has done this year. I like the way CCHS has played defense this season, with the exception of Upperman and DeKalb.

  6. This has been a one-sided crosstown rivalry for a while. The Jets are much improved in their 2nd year under Coach Repasky. CCHS comes in with a 3-3 record, while SMHS sits at 4-2. They've both played non-region opponents in common (Monterey and Lenoir City) and have beaten teams the other lost to.

This seems like a pretty even matchup this year. We're hoping for a more interesting and competitive game.

    Who has thoughts/predictions?

  7. Macon likely gets the win, but I will say, Cumberland County looks like they've found a decent head coach. Other than the White County loss, Cumberland County had a shot at beating both Scott County and Livingston. Literally one play in each of those close losses could have flipped the game in their favor and they'd be sitting at 2-1 right now. CC is a young group with no winning tradition. They're learning what it takes to win. Noah Rapasky from Upperman has them moving in the right direction. Macon should expect better competition from CC than they've gotten recently.

what or who is the secret weapon?

He's likely referring to their QB. They run an option offense. He's going to keep it a bunch. He's very quick, but if your defense fills the gaps up front, he wont beat you with his arm.

  9. CC seems to have gotten a talented coach. He seems enthusiastic for the game and eager to get to work building a team to the best of his ability. CC Is starving for just a little taste of success. We've had so many talented student-athletes come through this program, only to languish in the cesspool this program has been. We've had talented athletes unable to get any attention from colleges due to the embarrassment this team has been. I blame Principal Jon Hall and AD Pat Teeples for this. There has been no support in building a staff.  One man cant do it all. I hope Coach Rap gets appropriate help.

is that a salvageable program or do parents just run it?

I think it's salvageable. There has never been a strong winning tradition, but the culture is what needs to change. CCHS has had plenty of athletes, that's not the problem. The problem has been coaching decisions and 4 quarters of all-out, hustle and effort.  I'm not sure just how much parents are a problem, they may very well be, though.  The next head coach can be successful if he can impact the psychology of the athletes there and get them to believe they can win.  A more reasonable non-region schedule would also help. This year their schedule was the #1 toughest in 4A football to start the season. It ended the season as the 9th hardest. That's brutal.
