Fair enough. I will admit I can be wrong , sorry if I let anger get the best of me. I was wanting the win so bad, because last year Oakland beat us 49-7 worst lose since 1938. Prior to that 38-0 at Oakland. I apologize to anybody I offended. I agree let’s congratulate Oakland on a great win! They deserve the respect as a great football team! Yes let’s keep it clean on here. Maryville and Oakland will meet again.
Please allow me to correct you. Marevul lost 70-28 to Cleveland in 1993. They lost to Everett 59-6 in 1957.

Well the QB was down and clearly wasn't a fumble, they held Burks which allowed them to walk into the end zone untouched on that first TD, two really bad spots, allowed the game to turn into a rugby match one time when Vaughn ran the ball. Number 26 got away with murder right in front of the official. That's how I saw it. And if anybody don't like this your the one with the problem not me.
BarneySox2007 the Region 1 (Tri-Cities) officiating association is trying to make a statement, for the second week in a row. Also hurdling is not a penalty now either. No piggyback rides for Tri-Cities officials.

Yep. And it needs to be a press box one can access without having to go through everybody else's booth to get to theirs.
I was fortunate to have drawn the end box every time I worked a game there and didn't have to step over people, but it got rather noisy with people coming in and out for 3 hours while we were trying to broadcast.
HTV I hear that will be addressed in the off season and maybe a new LED lighting. I do find it interesting that a scoreboard clock operator (wink) from another school would know how "rundown" a press box is since he/she has never been in it (supposedly).

Surprised the Maryville folks don't have more to talk about than a press box !
I am surprised that watermaker waited till this week to chime in again. No not really.

The loss to Whitehaven in the state championship game a few years ago was a hilarious epic meltdown.
Bernie Childress didn't think it was too funny. Because of that 'meltdown' we now have 7 refs from the quarter finals on, because that call in that game was so bad.

You mean like the 2009 Maryville Farragut game where several of us Maryville fans sat on the Farragut side because our side was so jam packed and when Maryville came back to win in the second half I witnessed the worst sportsmanship I've ever seen in my 60 years ?? There were little kids all around us while dozens of farragut fans were screaming F-Bombs at the refs ... what made it so special was the fact that most of the guys were in business suits ... the freak out from the Farragut fans afterwards on coach T was legendary ... the whining nonstop . It reminded me of a long time ago of the fans in Kentucky when Maryville went there and beat them and we had to put our helmets on and put our heads down as our buses were pelted with beer cans ... the only difference was those guys drove home in tractors while those Farragut fans drove home in BMS's and Mercedes !! LOL
Hey Mom , I actually thought you were a pretty decent poster but I see it doesn't take much to turn you into a troll too ... You know good and Dam well Maryville isn't cheating but like every other troll on here for over 20 years there you go .
Yes pep that was not a 'hilarious epic meltdown', when youngsters are subjected to 'F-bombs'.

You know the thing that gets the big gal in a hissy is when men are not in the proper position. Like when the little line judge come running up the field and guessed where the WR landed. It's all about proper position with me.

Yea spotted them 7 right off the bat. Played tight after that. Settled in starting the second half. Ran it down that big schools throat with back to back 99 yard drives and out scored them 20-10. The funble and 2 interceptions are hard to over come. Alcoa had 481 total yards of offensive to murvuls 309 yards.
Who outscored who in the first half? I believe it is a 48 minute game. And thanks for the stats, we didn't have far to go on those short fields lol. Alcoa had 110 yards rushing and MHS had 199 yards, who "ran" it down who's throat? Congrats on your 3A gold ball. Here's some stats for you from the Blount County champs side.
DH leads GR 4-1 --- 80%
GR against MHS 3-13 --- 18.75%

A game they can't go to and sleepwalk through. I've not said much about the Alcoa game but they failed to deliver the knockout punch and let them back in the ballgame. I sat on the Alcoa side and there wasn't one person around me that didn't believe in their heart Alcoa wasn't going to win even when being ten down and the interception around 4 minutes. I said Saturday Maryville didn't win anything Friday Night they escaped which almost felt like a loss and had there been one more minute on the clock I would bet my life Alcoa would have pulled it off. They knew exactly where to go to and it's been the weak part since the first scrimmage against Oak Ridge. I won't say what that is but it needs to be fixed asap.
Barn I'm glad Alcoee kept giving us the short field, with the kickoffs. Alcoee made a play that kept them in the game knocking the ball loose with one of our receivers going in the end zone. Buckles is a good player and I'm sure Catholic wished they had him back. It was a game of momentum with lots of swings and players making plays. Just glad #43 was on our side. Regardless I'm sure I feel better than the Alcoee fans did Saturday.

Alcoa has more gold balls/rings than Maryville and that number will only continue to become more lopsided this year with Alcoa being in 3A minus the privates, Pearl, and Milan & Maryville being in 6A with an Oakland team that will be the favorite to win the title. It may grow to a point where Alcoa continues to add gold balls and Maryville goes several years without winning a gold ball.
This thread and the most recent posts show that is a stat that keeps some Maryville fans up late at night. The Rebels mystique is not what it once was. Oakland, Whitehaven, and Ravenwood have proven it on the big stage in recent years.
If I were an Alcoa fan, which I’m not, I would refer to that as often as possible when bantering with Maryville fans. It may reach a point where Alcoa fans have to invite Maryville fans over to their houses in order for them to see a state championship ring up close.
hdik if Alcoee doesn't win every little 3A gold ball from now till kingdom I would be surprised looking at the competition (no offense).
The "Marevul Mystique" is this. It is the number 1 program over the course of time since the inception of the TSSAA. With the number of overall wins and Marevul has more 6A championships than Oakland, Ravenwood, and Whitehaven combined. And I sleep really good at night after all my boyfriends go home.
