Again, I don't mind the recruiting that Baylor, McCallie or any of the other privates do. As stated above it raises TN wrestling up to a higher level I am all for it. HOWEVER to think that not having an elementary school is an impediment to that shows ignorance! As you stated before it seems they had a great program many years ago and no longer have that.

Also there are so many ways around how much a kid qualifies for when it comes to financial aid that it's not even funny, that is the reason both state pretty much exactly this same statement "need is determined by School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) and by Baylor’s Financial Aid Committee."

Do you know why they put "Baylor's Financial Aid Committee?" Plus both also have day and boarding school student scholarships in which the school themselves are in charge of handing out. Read the rules for TSSAA and let me know if those also are allowed by TSSAA for the athlete to still be eligible.

RMC, yes your nephew would have wrestled for Soddy Daisy and been a state champ for Soddy Daisy DANG good wrestler!

Do you have a student at Baylor on financial aid? I'm Just wondering? Only because I do have a son at Baylor who at one time was on financial aid and now is NOT. Financial aid is not sprinkled around like fairy dust as you have eluded to in your post. Please don't comment on what things are or how things are done if you haven't been through it or have a child in it.

  2. The cheerleaders for Cleveland may want to ask their wrestlers and coaches before they start a chant that may be considered "We want Baylor."

Baylor was not invited back to the Cleveland Duals this year and Cleveland did not even respond to attempts by Baylor to schedule a dual this year.

Congrats to Cleveland to being the 3rd, 4th or 5th best team in Tennessee this year.

    1. Baylor

    2. Christian Brothers

    3. Pigeon Forge

    4. Cleveland or maybe even McCallie ahead of Cleveland...

Way to flex your muscles... Clearly aTennessee All Star Team!!

Tennessee very well represented in the mid west and at beast of the east. Other areas of the country are starting to take notice.

But can they compete with teams such as Blair or WS?

With them literally recruiting everyone on thier team except 2-3 kids, you would think they should be able to, right?

Whether they can or can't really isn't the issue. What is important is they are actually willing to go and attempt to step on the mat with the best in the country.

With all respect.....I am not a wrestler, did not have a kid who wrestles, but love the sport and a big fan of this CoachT board and enjoy the banter. I have heard this topic surface on many occasions and have to laugh a little- I am sorry, but if you are a private school you have to recruit all students or else you do not have a school! I have been on the board of a private school and trust me, you have to recruit at ALL levels (Academically, Athletically, the Arts, etc....) or you can't fill the seats, or your teams! Often it is a great coach, or a very involved parent that helps to drive the effort and this is the mission of ALL private schools (academically, athletically, etc....)- and if you think your school is not "trying" to recruit, then you are mistaken....and if they are not trying to recruit, then that is a mistake of your coach and school, and that school may consider making a change in leadership.

So, the word "recruit" is used and OK to be used in the Private School DII setting, or else you would not have a school.....these schools are "recruiting" ALL students ALL YEAR long!

    Very well said sir.

Well sorry, but that was my answer to your question

Well...... With your lack of definitively answering the question I'll assume that the "one school in particular" has either wronged  you or taken something from you personally? I only say this because that is the only logical reason you would comment in this manner. Correct  me if I am wrong but the personal decision for whatever reason for  a child to attend  said school or any like it is up the family of the  child. If the family is following the rules given by the governing body and school  it is not up for debate by any individual or community . If you or your child would like to attend that school please follow  the proper channels, pay  the money, and  do so. Last time I checked America is a free country and the choice is yours. I am positive you and your child will be welcomed by the "one school in particular" if you do decide this is the best option.
