I think he would have stayed under normal circumstances. Wish him luck.
I agree. A lot of people don't know the whole story. Wish him luck at Waverly.

Praying for improved health and a speedy hospital exit for Peg Leg.

The poster said that he had already told "his guys" that he was leaving... if you haven't heard, he's just blowing smoke.
Yeah, you never know nowadays. Can't blame a coach for bettering himself if the opportunity arises, but I am 99.999% sure he was not at Waverly this weekend.

Figures... thanks for the quick reply!!!
No problem. Coach may yet leave, but hard to be in 2 places at 1 time (LOL).

Any talk at Ronnies, Foodland, or Cracker Barrell about Whitwell's coach leaving? There's some newbie posting on Waverly's thread that he's in town looking for a house. Maybe some of them jailhouse fellers have heard something?
I think Boldin was in Birmingham this weekend for a youth football all-star game with his son.

Thank you TALMAD and SCPRIDE30 for the support as they passed through Dunlap. Win or lose tomorrow, these young men will not forget the excitement and level of support shown throughout the whole valley.

Cherokee23, this is my 1st year posting on Coach T, but you are pure class. Watched 23 snagging one handed passes during pregame. He is a special athlete. Hate that he missed the game. I think that if he played, the outcome would have been different. Thanks for supporting Whitwell. Hopefully this our year.

Much respected post! I like realists a lot of people don’t. You are 100% correct you play the hand you are dealt and as a Cherokee fan we have much to appreciate for the fight the Cherokees brought to Whitwell’s full aresenal minus their QB for a short period. Petty is a versatile baller who did what he needed to do along with Wingo and the others. Being a realist I doubt you would have liked Whitwell’s chances without Petty on the field last night and had GB been playing Whitwell without a Petty our realists would have realized the “gift” we were given. I still wish Whitwell the best and know if nothing else they will take a lot of fight to Cornersville and hopefully they can pass because that is how you beat Cornersville who will have to sell out to stop your run game. Just being real!
That's it ladykee. As a realist, if Petty is out, we probably lose this game. If we have to play next week without our QB, we will show up and play the hand we are dealt. Hope you didn't take that last post as disrespectful because it wasn't intended that way. I just meant to say that if 23 plays, Whitwell more than likely loses.

A huge Whitwell fan, but I am a realist. I watched 23 snag one handed passes all during warm ups with his other arm in a sling. If he was healthy and played, I believe the outcome may have been drepreswet. Hated it for Greenback, but this time of year you play with the hand you are dealt. Whitwell's QB getting hurt didn't help, but Petty stepped up when needed most. I knew it would not be a blowout, either way. Good hard nosed game. I predict Greenback will represent the East next year after a stout challenge from SP.

All of you Greenback posters are nothing but pure class. Congrats on a great season. Y'all will be there next year. Hard fought game on both sides.

Thankful for God's blessings, family, friends and football on Friday nights. Hoping for an injury free game on both sides. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

About what time is a good time to get to the gate in order to not stand in line forever? @WingoVFL you should know
If it a crowd size comparable to SP, I would try to get there about 1 hour and 15 minutes before kickoff. We usually get there about 1.5 hours early, but I haven't noticed any issues getting people in.

Gonna be a nervous wreck before the game but let’s not forget also that in every big game, this GB team always steps up. Anytime we need a big play, someone is there. And after thinking about it, we really need to score first. Boldin and their players haven’t been here before and if they get stuck behind the 8 ball, it’ll be interesting how they respond. If GB let’s their crowd influence this game, momentum might not swing back in our favor. I can see WHS winning by 3 scores, GB winning by 3 scores, or it being a very close ball game. I believe our coaching will be a HUGE factor in this game. Take what they give and DO NOT let off the gas.
I too will be nervous before the game. It is true that Whitwell has not been in this position in a while, but there is a different feel about this team. Senior leadership is a huge factor for this team. They have been in a few situations this year that they had to dig deep (TC game and playoff game against S. Pitt.). Both times they arose to the occasion. They have been tested, but GB is an experienced and very talented team. I see a close game either way. If Whitwell doesn't get too excited and can keep it close going in to the 4th quarter, we will have a good chance of coming out on top. You guys do have the advantage in coaching experience and the players being in this position before. I will agree that if either team gains an advantage that they need to stay on the gas and not get complacent.

One player from whitwell got rattled and it was the center, he checked his self out of the game. Warner is a great player but like someone said before the 4 headed monster (Petty,Wingo, Warner,Stewart) it’s hard to focus on one player, and plus it’s not like we wasn’t moving the ball when we would do what we always do. Just dumb flags was being thrown (both ways)
That is accurate. I also believe that there was some confusion in the 1st half with some new play calls (delay of game, etc.). I do not think that there is any need for a lot of new plays this week. Maybe a few new wrinkles, but line up and play to the strengths of what got you this far and win your one on one matchups, but what do I know, I'm a football stand weenie, but proud parent (LOL). Looking forward to a great, injury free game. Safe travels GB faithful. See y'all Friday in Whitvegas.

What about Johnnys Hook and Grill? Anyone from Whitwell
Johnnys is pretty good. They have some good shrimp. Safe travels up here next week. Looking forward to a good game. There is a place in Crossroads called Sue Bob's that is pretty good also. That's about it. LOL.

I may try it next week just to see how it works.
Me and the wife did the digital tickets as guinea pigs. You have to pay about a dollar extra as a service fee. The ticket goes to your email. When you open it, do not "redeem" it. They will do that at the gate. Once it is "redeemed", you can not select the "redeem" option again. I believe that they do that so that the ticket cannot be forwarded and used more than once. As guinea pigs, I guess you could say we were officially the first in the gate. I am unsure where you enter with the digital ticket though. They will not let you in the gate if the "redeem" button has been pressed, so please do not press it by mistake. Hope this helps. Looking forward to a good game. Win or lose, supporting the valley next week.

Thanks Gbnation! Hated to hear about one of you players getting hurt. Kids put in a lot of time for a chance to experience playoff time. I know he will come back with a vengeance☺. Sorry on who I pull for (whoever wins), but gotta support the valley.
-
1st time poster. What Whitwell did during the 1st game has no bearing on this one. Much respect to S. Pitt. As Ric Flair said "To be the man, ya gotta beat the man". Hoping for a good clean game on both sides, decent refs and no injuries on either side. Hopefully Whitwell can pull out another W, but if the opposite happens, gotta support the valley against GB.

Head Coaching Vacancies
in Class 1A & Class 2A
Posted
I saw on Twitter via Stephen Hargis that Whitwell is expected to name assistant Travis Olinger head football coach.
