  1. Believe me i'm not trying to take anything from Davis, he shot really well. Its always hard to shoot deep in the boro but his 3 ball was falling nicely today so keep up the good dave...however the man who kept the team going today was NICHOLAS VAN HORN, the kid NEVER gave up. He simply would not quit and was/has been the heart and soul of the team, he didn't score a bunch but kept the team rollin'! Atta baby Nicky :D

    very true

hey noodles, you gonna be back tomorrow?? WE NEED YOU!!

  2. From the first games today the West does own. I think Wayne Co. will be beaten by UC by 15-20...but i think Grace could give Humbolt a good game. Grace was ice cold today, so i wouldnt expect that same performance on Friday. And hopefully Humbolt got their shots out of their system and go cold.

I would like to hear from people who know Humbolt pretty well and saw them play today... how did they play today? Good? Great? Average?? What did they not do well today that they usually do well at?

  3. Congrats to the wildcats on the win. But I will go ahead and say that Wayne Co. WILL NOT beat Union City on friday. And this coming from a totally neutral party.

And about the UC vs Cloudland game, yes UC is awesome, but Cloudland made them look unbeatable. Cloudland was aweful. They wouldnt have made it out of districs in Chattanooga.

  4. Honestly, McMasters only played decent today. What you saw was a nervous sophmore. He is SO much better than what he showed today against ER. Like previously stated, the coaches are looking at his skills at 6'10" being a sophmore. He has amazing skills and coordination for his age. That is why he is ranked so high. He also has 4 others around him that can score...so he doesnt have to. But i do think he was the X factor in the game. Now, the one who won us the game was Davis Eldridge. The kid is an amazing shooter. ER came out and played hard and was in it for the first 3 quarters, so good job to the Indians. But i will also say that Grace came out SO FLAT and they had one of the worst halves of the year in the 1st half. They are SO much better than that. But they will have to play their best to beat Humbolt on Friday. CAN they? Yes. WILL they? We shall see.

  5. Rivalries are made over time, not in the span of 1 year. When all the chips are on the table, these teams play some of the best games in the state.

I agree with you. That was ignorant on my part. Temple and Grace are like that also. Before this year Temple dominated the rivalry. So yes, it is built over a number of years.

And to "the boom", Clay better be a LOT better than Pickett if they dont wanna get embarassed in the first round of the state tourney. Im sorry, but Pickett was not very good. I know Grace is a good team, but they DOMINATED Pickett in sub-state.

  6. Those, my friend, are the words of a very arrogant young man who deserves to be benched for such an obnoxious comment. Hopefully, Mr. Eldridge did not really say this -- if I was his parent or coach, I'd not be pleased. And if I were a Grace fan, I wouldn't be spreading it around.

HAHA...Davis is a funny kid. He isnt arrogant...chill out man...you dont know the kid. Those words were said jokinglly between us Grace senior guys. And i wouldnt care how arrogant he was...if i had a player that could shoot like Davis...let him be arrogant...you would think the same thing if you had a shooter like Davis.

  7. East Robertson belongs to one of the toughest districts in middle tn. And i would exactly call beating the same team 4 times in one season, going into double overtime in the region tourney game to beat East Lit.,and going into overtime again to beat columbia academy by 5 "slipping into the state tourney". We've worked our off to get this far just like everyother team still playing. And its not very sportsman like to say that the other teams (who have made it just as far as you have) aren't even decent. So grow up, get a life, and don't waste your time talking @*%& to fans b/c they're not even in the game! BRING HOME THE TITLE BOYS!!!!!

I read nothing in that post to back up the statement of "East Robertson belongs to one of the toughest districts in middle tn". Ive not even heard of East Lit., and i dont know how good columbia is. And again, maybe one of the toughest districts, but ONE of the toughest in MIDDLE TN! I know Clay Co. is very good, and they are from middle, but we (Grace) played Pickett (middle tn) in sub-state and ted them up and down the court.

And the guy didnt say East is bad, he just said that it wont be a problem for Grace to beat them. He just stated that East and Cloudland are just not the same caliber of teams that all the others are.

  8. Well ok ill tell yall this..If there is a team over in that bracket that can beat Humboldt...Is Cosby...Because of the 3 good shooters they have beyond the ark.

If it's the 3 ball that can beat Humbolt then Grace is the team to do it. All 5 starters shoot the 3 very well. Including 6'10" man. It will be interesting, however, to see how Grace would use Carter down low. The team you just decribed about having people to spread out on offense and have guys that can take it to the hole is Grace. Then just when you think they are driving, they pull up and hit the mid-range jumper very well. They also play good defense. You have Van Horn as an awesome rebounding guard, and McMasters...well, he is 6'10" and rebounds well. I think Grace would have a very good shot at beating Humbolt. I dont think the West is as almighty as you think they are.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, Grace still has to beat East Robertson.

  9. WOW, theres someone out there who thinks East Robertson can beat Grace. Sorry to burst your bubble, East Robertson slipped into the state tourny..and i know everybody will say well if they're in the tournament they must be decent! Well you're right because some just decent teams made it this year, Cloudland(couldnt compete in any other region across the state), and East Robertson.

Well that sounds pretty good for Grace, but believe me, they are not overlooking them at all! That would be very foolish. Im sure they have a shot ot beat Grace, but i just dont see it either.

What is ER's starting lineup look like?? Height? Best Skills?

  10. I kno zero about east teams besides the fact i have seen them play in recent state tournies..But i cant imagine anyone playin with U/C in the state tourny unless it is humbolt...and for Grace i have seen you and some of the teams you where talkin about beatin and yall should have stayed at the house.

You sir are foolish. For one you totally contradicted yourself. One of the first things you said was that you know zero about east teams...and then come back with some crap about us not being any good and not playing anybody and that you had seen us. So which one is it? You obviously cant even keep yourself straight. And EVERY team at this point has a good shot at the title. Dont come out and make stupid comments that a team doesnt have a chance or should have stayed home. You sir just sounded ignorant.

  11. The previous posts have been right. Carter CAN be shut down. He does have his off nights offensively. He doesnt have off nights rebounding and blocking. But as said earlier if you concentrate on stopping him you will get burried from the outside by the other 4 and through the lane by Dilts and Van Horn. I think that is what makes this Grace team SO tough to beat. They have so many ways to beat you. You cant focus all of your attention on one person or even 2 people. Everyone on the floor can score in bunches. And they are not half bad at defense either...haha. Seeing Carter make fools of so many people this year has been a lot of fun.

I dont think this one will be a blowout, and i think East Robertson will play a good game, but i would be willing to bet Grace will pull it out.

  12. I'm going with Humboldt. Too much athleticism, too many weapons, especially for the slower East Tennessee teams (not a knock on ET, just a statement of fact on the contrasting styles between East and West).

I am not trying to get anything started. This is a legitimate question that ive been wanting to know. How has it been proven that East teams are slower? How has this been made a "fact" this year?

  13. I know it is just because i am from the east that i think this...but i find it funny that the west thinks that they everyone should bow down and worship them. I know it wont be the case for a few of you, but i would venture to say that most of you have never seen Grace or Cosby play. I will admit that i have not seen any of the teams out west play, but i think the same goes for you and the east. I am an avid Grace fan. I KNOW that they are an unbelievable team that has what it takes to win it all. Now i havent seen Humbolt or Union City play, but you cant sit there and say that they will win it by watching them play teams from the west. I can sit here and tell you great basketball teams that Grace has played and beaten, but you wouldnt recognize 3/4 of the names. That is what it is like for us in the east. We dont know all these teams that you are saying they beat, and we dont have anything to compare them to.

You wanna talk tested? Here are a few of the teams Grace has played:

A very good CSAS team and beat them twice. McCallie (one of the best teams in the STATE in Div. 2) and beat them. East Ridge, a very good team with a 6'9" center and beat them twice. Christian Heritage, i would say one of the best teams in north GA (with a player going to Air Force next year), and beat them. Picket Co., that was a joke, we killed them. And the strongest argument is TEMPLE. We had to play them 5 TIMES! You cannot deny that they are one of the best teams in the state. We beat them 4 out of 5 times! Dont talk to me about tested teams.

It comes down to that the East doesnt know what the West has and the West doesnt know what the East has. The tourney will show which part of the state plays the best basketball. I am not saying that Grace will win, but you dont know that either. You havent seen them play.

I know the west has great teams, and i cant wait to see how they match up to the basketball i have watched all year in and around Chattanooga.

    Good luck to everyone!

    BUT GO GRACE!!!

  14. I think Grace has an excellent chance to make it to the finals.

You just said in your last post that Grace was gonna get beat early in the tourney. Make up your mind. It is posts like this that totally contradict each other that make people question the validity of your comments. That and your stupid "basketball" term.

At this point all of the teams left are capable of winning it all. But i do think Grace has the right mix do make some noise and possibly win it all.

  15. Maybe it was just me...but was anyone else kinda dissapointed in the atmosphere tonight? I mean i still had fun and the student section did a pretty good job, but i just didnt feel like it was a BIG game night atmosphere.

    Anyone else care to comment??

  16. congratulations to grace and good luck in the state tourney. i hope u guys win it. bring it home to district 5. <_<

i hope you guys utilize carter mcmasters. wow what a tremendous potential, however i dont know if he has been utilized correctly all season. he is a great player, and has potential to be even better. i feel that, however, he needs to be INSIDE dunking the ball, getting offensive rebounds and second chance points, and not at the freethrow line (or farther out) outside shots. hes 6 10.........no one can stop him inside once he has the ball. the ONLY way to stop him inside is to keep him from getting the ball, so if u can get the ball to him, he can TE. if carter had been as big of an inside threat as he couldve been this year, i feel like grace would be undefeated. you guys have a GREAT team and congratulations on your season so far. please dont take any of what i said as bad, b/c i do not mean it bad at all. just trying to offer a helpful opinion. good luck in the rest of the tournament and i hope you guys win state. :)

There has been a lot of speculation this year about what you just said. Carter is a hard one to fit into either of those roles. Yes, he could be nt inside (right now he is not a HUGE fan of banging inside), but he can also shoot the ball very well. So yes, they could use him more inside, but he also is a huge threat away from the basket. Coach Matthiess has done a good job of balancing this i think. Now, in my opinion, should they get the ball to Carter more inside? Yes. I think it would greatly help them in the state tourney against these team that dont have anyone that can matchup height with McMasters. If you get it to him down low like that then one of two things will probably happen: 1) he scores, or 2) he gets fouled. I think that is a good equation for success against smaller teams.
