Must be the issue but they didn't look too big nor sure either. We've witnessed times like that too

I know you can't let the monkeys run the zoo, but something happened late last season not real sure what. That turned the kids against the entire staff. So right of wrong i just don't think they come back from it.

You may very well be correct.  I do not remember much about Jones’s early years.

I will say this, they honored #1 tonight and well deserved, but that O-line he had protecting him doesn’t get enough credit for the protection they gave him.

Yep, not to mention the 4 receivers and a tightend that any team around would give there eye teeth to have, plus two really solid backs. But hay thays the way it always goes. In college ball you take an great qb on an average team: you get he looks ok, but you put an average qb on a great team: they'll give him the Heisman trophy.

Can’t believe I’m just now seeing/reading this thread.  I’m going to be a little blunt, so please no one needs to take it as disrespectful.  The majority of you on here have way more than knowledge about this game than I do, but I’m am learning a little here and there.  This game should be a no contest in my opinion and The Dawgs should run away with it.  However, I will say you never know what’s going to happen on Rebel Hill?

SG has tons of upside. There’s no doubt they have the talent, even at the middle school it’s there as well.  At the middle school level mostly 8th graders or the click gets to see the playing field and the practice reps.  The rest stand by the way side for the most part and I’ll leave it at that.  At the high school level there’s something missing.  It all starts with coaching.   Jones and Case I think are good coaches and I think they have what it takes to get over that hump.  The guy sitting in the booth calling the plays, I wonder what’s going through his mind sometimes.  I’m not so sure the coaches are on the same page and I think that’s what may be missing to allow them to get to that next level?  I hope they figure it out soon.  If they could get to a semi, or even the state one time and get that taste in their mouths, I think it would awesome for their program.  I do not think this is their year though.   I look for Hampton to be representing the east this year.

I’ll be surprised if this game is close.  I do not see SG scoring a lot of points if any?  The only thing I can see is maybe SG’s defense plays up to their full potential and keeps the game from looking lopsided, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

    Dogs 42

    Rebels 6

If Jones couldn't get over the "hump" with the players/talent he's had in the last few years it never going happen. What you will see is a steady decline until they are being mercy ruled 6 or 7 times a year, just like they where before the latest wave of talent come through. He didn't suck at coaching for 10 years and them all of a sudden just figure it out.

My issue with SG was never the players or even fans and I'll leave it at that. Actually had conversations with Myers kid family after wins and losses. Have a couple family friends we've competed against since 2005....But the banter here has sure been fun the last 3 years

When you get two passionate fan bases together, one who loves to win and does it alot, and one who also loves to win but doesn't get to very often. Things are bound to get a little sideways, but the common ground between both sides is a love for winning, with a little poop stirring thrown it.

I see some pretty good talent on this years team, probably gonna always  have more overall talent ,its just a bigger school with more to draw from and lucky to get a few transfers. Now you don't have a Myers, those are few and far between, think he was an outstanding kid to go with it.

There is enough talent and desire there to be a constant .750 program. But these coaches make Bill Napier look like a mathematical wizard.

The proof is at middle school level. I don't know the exact stats but i think in the schools 3 years they have lost something like 2 or 3 games and most of there wins have come by mercy rule.

Actually I had four little ones that beat SG countless times since 2009. The last little one only got THREE attempts. Thank goodness for the no call horse collar at the end of last years game or he'd been 2 for 3 againt em. By the way, we always win or lose as a team

Not butt hurt. Just stating game facts

No doubt your sons were/are phenomenal players, and a true joy to watch compete. Thats way i don't understand all excuses ever time. I have no idea what Hamptons winning percentage over SG is. If i had to guess its north of 75%. You all have nothing to make excuses for you have a superior program with far superior coaches. SG hit the talent lottery for few years and had some great players all over the field, and because of that they where able to over come horrific coaching and have some success. Those times are gone now but the coaches are not. And Hampton well region supreme again. So no need for endless excuses, admit your defeats, relish in your many victories, and be proud your program is the gold standard.

Yes. Let's remember what happened 3 years ago when SG rolled into Hampton going to destroy us...Didn't work out that way. Think the final was 30-0 Hampton? The following season we rolled into SG and smacked them the first half, up by 22 or something like that, then lost ( however we had lost a couple good players to injuries in that one). SG isn't the place to go thinking you'll have your way

This guy is still so butt hurt about SG, and can't help himself but talk about the only time his little one beat SG in FOUR tries.

  8. 2020 Facts

Meigs is awesome and straight crushed our Rebels.

SG went 12-1 best record in school history.

SG has a Mr. Football finalists for the first time ever.

Hampton finished second in region one.

    Uknoit2 is still making excuses.

SG fans are proud of there team.

    Trump won the election.

:roflol::roflol:GCFB said there wasn't but 4 people left to post on that thread. Heck! Thats about all we've had on the 2A boards for the last 3 years :roflolk:

I was talking about all the boards, not just that thread. Thanks again.

I'm out now, maybe I'll post again in a year or two but probably not.

Your still the greatest of all time, undisputed never really been beat champion.

    Congratulations

Another opportunity that benefitted hampton was their score beginning the 4th Quarter.. 4 and goal rushing to the line before delay of game and the wing back never gets set. Could have been 4th and 8 with only a 3 point lead. This could have changed the entire game if it was called as well..

Joker, I see your new the coachT  game. It's always fun to run someone else's view point on games, but unfortunately you will soon learn why everyone else has stopped committing but about four people. First off uknoit2 always has to have the last word, and loves to blabber about everything and everyone. Secondly you'll learn Hampton has never truly lost a ball game. ESPN should really do a 30 for 30 on them, THE NEVER REALLY BEATEN TEAM. Sure they have had a few games they didn't score as many points as the other team, but THEY didn't really lose. Because either the refs where cheating, or the other team was dirty, or it was because it was on TV, or the wind was blowing, or the sun was in there eyes, or the grass was too green, or the goal post where the wrong color, or the lights were the wrong kind of bulbs, or the bus had to much air in the tires. So when I seen the score of Friday nights game I know right then they didn't "really" lose. And I could wait to get on coachT and see what causes them to have less points than the other team. I wish you luck joker, we are all pulling for you.

After the events that took place against our last opponent. I'd hope we asked the refs to keep a better eye on such things. I'd imagine it wouldn't surprise you to find out that alot of our games that kind of play seems to take place. Over the years many times it's been stated that stop the qb and you stop Meigs. Alot of teams has tried that at all cost over the years. It's a shame honestly.

Trust me nobody wants a dirty game. We no exactly what you talking about with HV.

If i was betting, I'd say the rebels will be out to hurt Swafford.  In 03, when we were upset by cak, they wiped out mark Byrd  on a punt return.  In fact, i watched teams try to injure him his whole career.  Minds can become dark in the heat of a game

Dumbest post of all time. SG will play hard and give it all the got, and we'll have to see if that is enough to win. But they will not be out there trying to hurt people on purpose. Go crawl back under your Carter County rock.

Those Hampton boys are very well coached.  They’ll get the W +14

The jabbering about SG I find amusing.  SG this, SG that; sounds like they need not make the trip to Méigs if it’s a done deal.  I sure hope that mind set is not in the Meigs kids.  SG had the mind set against Hampton, and Hampton flat out gave them an old fashioned beating.

Best of luck to both teams.   I’ll be pulling for the bulldogs cause I am a NET homer.

All the SG haters are funny to listen to. According to them SG couldn't play dead in a western. I guess 10 different teams just felt sorry for them and let them win. I guess Hampton didn't get the memo that were supposed to roll over for them.

Had a couple of k-8 schools in Greene County close and one of them was a reward school—highest academic honor any of our k-8 schools had received, and they closed it last year. Lol politicians aren’t looking to make the education better or maintain high standards. It’s all about the mighty dollar.  Tons of research shows that smaller schools are more beneficial to the overall development of kids, yet Greene County wants to build a high school that holds 2200+ students. STUPID. I really hope they don’t close Cloudland. Destroys community identity. At some point people in high places in the education field need to decide what’s more important—developing quality community members or saving a dime so schools can all have shiny toilet seats.

So true, with a the yankees that have moved here Greene county has already lost most of it's identity. If they keep closing our schools we will lose the rest of it. Hopefully Carter County does not fall into this some trap.

This is off topic but SG got a 6’4 receiver transfer from Knox Powell. He’s a senior and can fly. Hasn’t played a whole lot of football but got moved into the Holston Home place up near the school cause parents were incarcerated. Going to make debut against Cosby.

    Interesting

Good to hear! It makes a world of difference having some athletes lol smaller schools need their best guys to play multiple sports. Cant stand a coach encouraging specialization.

So true, I thought it was just a huge problem in Greene County but it must happen everywhere.
