I was actually being serious and everyone knows, thanks to the TSSAA, y’all have cupcake central in your region. Next year you get to make the jump to 2A.  Was told this past weekend regardless of where you get classified next year, you guys are good to 2A.

I would say Huntingdon’s gate more than anyone else has been affected with this region we are force to play in. Most of these teams fans aren’t driving the hour and a half to see their teams be beaten by 40. Huntingdon can compete with anyone in 2a and would be a battle against Peabody.

    Fingers crossed on that.

McKenzie is young but have some talent. # 22 is bigtime fast.] # 7 is also a fast RB if he's cleared to play. I wouldn't want to make this team mad, their going to be tough in a couple years.

Mckenzie will be tough in a few years, unless.... the players decide to go back to Henry Co.:popcorneater:

I got banned! From the time I drove from waverly to Meigs! I was eating at Applebee’s before the game fixn to stir the pot for the game and it said I was banned. That Horse dude from Huntingdon reported me. I don’t understand tho.

As much as Horse is a horses backside I don’t think he is a tattle tale. He can dish it out and take it. I saw Coach T comment on your post and then after that you put the GIF on there. I thought it was a hilarious GIF but he must have thought it crossed the line after the warning post. Hopefully you can get it back.

Do you think things would be different if we stayed in 2A?? Would we have another gold ball in the trophy case? Would our offense be any better? Would our schedule still feature Mckenzie, Milan, and Trenton??  Outside of Trenton and Union City 2A hasnt been that much different in years past. I for one, am excited about the opportunity that Huntingdon has  this year. We must not forget that in order for us to get reach the Semi-Finals and play Lake County, we have to get past the 3rd round, which more than likely will be in Cornersville(yes, I know they arent as dominant as the past 2 years) which will not be easy by any means.  I truly hope and know that we CAN do it, but I would really like to face Lake County which would be hosted at Paul Ward Stadium it will be a PACKED HOUSE! Untill then, 1 game at a time, work on getting better each week. Then we will see who not only the best QB is but the BEST TEAM is in West Tennessee!. Lake County, I wish you nothing but the best this season, I pray for no injuries, no suspensions, no excuses for each team when we meet in November, Good Luck the rest of the way!

    Probably Mt Pleasant over cornersville

Running clock in just about every game rest of the year.McEwen terrible,Wayne Co,terrible ,Perry Co and Middleton.Beyond terrible.Middle school teams could beat them.Worse schedule in Single A this year.

They are all terrible. It’s a shame. Milan may be ok. I would say one of those teams you named has a schedule worse than ours.

Carnes was 24-for-40 for 314 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.

“Braden is upset about the turnovers but hey, I told him, ‘If you throw it that many times and you’re not throwing interceptions, something is wrong,’” Ryan said. “I’m proud to death of Braden Carnes. I’m proud to death of how our receivers competed.”

Holden Willis and Wyatt Rutgerson were Carnes’ main targets. Willis had nine catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns while Rutgerson had 112 yards and one touchdown on nine receptions.

Willis said the team came to Meigs County with more heart than last week when the Cherokees fell to Loudon, 54-20. Loudon also grabbed a 13-0 lead before Greenback allowed the game to slip out of reach.

This time, the Cherokees fought back.

“The heart is there,” Willis said. “Small fixes and we’ll be a team people don’t want to play.”

Greenback missed some opportunities early. Rutgerson intercepted Meigs County quarterback Aaron Swafford on the Tigers’ opening drive. Carnes was sacked on third down, forcing the Cherokees to punt it away.

Meigs County kept that momentum on its ensuing drive when Swafford launched a pass downfield to Logan Carroll, who made an over-the-shoulder catch for a 45-yard touchdown six minutes into the game.

Swafford put Meigs County ahead 13-0 with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Will Meadows with 3:49 left in the half. Also the kicker, Swafford missed the extra point attempt.

It was at that point that Greenback came alive. Willis gave the Cherokees a spark when he turned a short pass into an 18-yard gain by scrambling and stiff-arming his way to the Meigs County 45. Six plays later, Willis put the Cherokees on the board with a 5-yard touchdown catch in the left corner of the end zone with 5:26 left in the half.

“That comes from reps in practice, running go routes and turning and seeing the ball in the air already,” Willis said. “Braden and I have our timing down. The line is blocking — supporting. That’s a team-contributed play.”

Rutgerson made it 13-8 when he rushed for the two-point conversion. He came up big again with five seconds left in the second quarter when he made a 20-yard catch in the back of the end zone. He kept his feet inbounds to give Greenback a 14-13 edge entering halftime.

“I knew their safety was over the top,” Rutgerson said. “He completely bluffed and went to the right side. I just got wide open, and Braden made a good throw for me to make a play.”

Four minutes into the third quarter, Swafford gave Meigs County the lead, 19-14, when he broke loose for an 80-yard touchdown. Greenback answered on its next drive when Carnes found Willis in the end zone again — this time for a 31-yard touchdown. The ball sailed through the hands of Meigs County cornerback before falling into Willis’ arms to put Greenback on top one last time, 20-19.

Swafford scored the winning touchdown on a 45-yard run with 10:35 left. He ran in the two-point conversion to give the Tigers a seven-point advantage.

With less than four minutes remaining, the Cherokees threatened to score by stringing together three consecutive first downs that put Greenback in Meigs County territory. Swafford intercepted Carnes to eliminate the threat.

While the Cherokees succeeded at moving the ball through the air, they had fewer than 10 rushing yards seven carries.

“We’ve got to find some kind of run game,” Ryan said. “I don’t know what the answer is to that right now, but I promise you we’ll find it before next week.”

Waverly has a lot of pressure on them tonight coming in 0-1 and now going against Huntingdon who has 3 of the best backs in West TN running the ball and also a very good O and D line. Last week huntingdon was blowing Mckenzie’s O line off the ball every play and was in the back field before the ball was even handed off. If waverly can keep pressure off the qb and give time to throw they can  have a good night passing the ball.

Huntingdon’s biggest weakness is definitely pass defense. The one thing keeping them from getting torched is the defense line is quick and the qb doesn’t have time to think. Miller loves to blitz the linebackers. A good qb and some quick throws is the way to beat Huntingdon. You still have to score 40 +.

At least they have a past to talk about as well as the present and future.

I’m guessing you think Huntingdon doesn’t? I’d say Huntingdon has a pretty good tradition, a pretty good squad this season, and a Middle school program that is blowing out larger programs by 40 a game.

You got me you guys are tiny school tough ...  doesn't change the fact that huntingdon is WAY better than ya'll

You can’t have a opinion around this Lake Co bunch. Well, unless you agree with them. They don’t like for you to post on their pages either.  They do love to talk about the past, however.

Huntingdon schedule is a joke outside of Milan and I'm not sure how good they are yet.

I’ll let you in on a little fact. No matter who Huntingdon schedules outside of the district, I can’t make that team competitive. The 4 teams that Huntingdon plays is usually competitive in their classes.

Enjoy man! You guys are #1

I didn’t make the poll. It really means nothing. Huntingdon and LC are the top 1a teams in the west. Make it a tie for all I care. I do however like to hear LC posters crying about being the stepsister. Sorry for throwing out a few things about the game. I know most you don’t like to actually talk about football. Huntingdon is not trying to beat its chest about beating Mckenzie, but you shouldn’t be about beating UC. They simply aren’t the UC of old.

Ur right. They would be 4th.As long as Hunt and South Pitt win Lake Co will stay 3rd.And if Greenback were to keep winning!they will move ahead of Lake Co!even if Lake Co is undefeated..I'm just curious. If fans were voting.zIs a 21 or 27-7 win over McKenzie more impressive than a 58 to 16 win over Union City

Who beat Mckenzie 27-7? They have only played 1 game. Huntingdon smoked Mckenzie 42-7 and was inside the 5 with the 2nd string getting ready to take it in when Swenson elected to take a knee.(which was the right choice) Huntingdon also had a few TDS called back on questionable calls and one fumbled into the back of the end zone. So it actually could have been around 63/70-7. Huntingdon threw the ball once. Didn’t have to throw that one. The complaint with the fans is that is something that needs to be incorporated into the offense early in the year. Also, Mckenzie had their starting running back knocked out and airlifted. That will impact a team. I am however happy that Ambassador has given the pick of Death to someone other than Huntingdon.

Well your perspective is wrong lol! Our coach knows what adjustments to make but he can only motivate players to step up and play with fight. At some point the players have to get it done on the field. That fight comes from within the heart of the individual. Mental mishaps can be fixed by putting in extra effort in the film room and accepting constructive criticism. The players who really want it will find & welcome the help to get better. It first starts with “want to”! You are only as good as your weakest link or links. We fix just the line issues and we are immensely better and defensive needs to learn and understand their assignments so they can play full speed and be in position to tackle and make a play.  Trust me they get coached! Each player needs to decide if they want to show up for practice to learn and get better or whine and make excuses pointing the finger.

Do you know of a few linemen y’all could still go out and get?

Ok you got me, so where do I need to play jr more? He a ball thrower or a ball catcher?

I’ve said it before. My boys are grown. I want the best players in the best position that works with their skill set with the plays that give them the best opportunity to win.
