I think Upperman will match up with y’all size wise, but I couldn’t see them holding up to you guys athletes.

I do however think that is the only week you guys will be tested in the regular season.

Thanks for the compliment.  Red Bank should be a strong opponent, also.  The Region 5 schedule is always a challenge and we are going to play up outside the Region.  We should be battle tested by the end of the regular season.  Go Tigers!

cornersville handles Huntland this week as much as they want.

I think it will be a win for Cornersville but the teams know each other well and that may keep the game within a score or two.  Huntland knows how to get the most out of the clock. Region 5 games are often hard fought.  "Any given Friday night...".

  3. Congrats to Coach McIntyre and to the good folk in Sequatchie County.  He's a great guy and will make a good name for himself as HC.  I expect the program to show vast improvement under his leadership.  His family is wonderful and I'm sure they will be a blessing to Dunlap.  We will miss them in Fayetteville.

  4. The game Friday night was one of the best I have ever seen in 1A.  Everyone should be proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of such a contest.  The crowd was fantastic.  Both teams played hard and showed class.  Congratulations to MC for a stellar year!  I think they had the best passing offense I've seen in our Region since Fayetteville started playing varsity football.   It's great to have good neighbors!  I'm super happy the Tigers were able to advance against such a great team.  It would be great if everyone would be kind to one another and Region 5 would throw some love our way.  Go Tigers!!!

Wonder if they have kool aid as well?

I think it is a shot. The Tigers can use it as free motivation and still keep composure.  I was not impressed when a rival fan called us "geto tigers" on these boards.  I assume that is how they spell "ghetto" in Crete.  Who posted that a few weeks ago?

Recipe to beat Moore Co is keeping their offense off the field. Huntingdon had the right idea but couldn't hold on to the ball. MC defense is not very good. Gave up 24 1st downs and 347 yards rushing to the Mustangs despite 7 turnovers. If I were Fayetteville I would never throw it. If the Mustangs had beat Moore Co. you Fayetteville folks would have had a bye this week. Head coach sick.

    Good stat info!

    Hope he feels better soon!

KJ Jackson looks like he is coming into his own as a freshman. Dynamic athlete for sure. How did City only beat Huntland by a score when the Hornets played without Stewart for most the game? That is shocking. If I remember correctly Huntland lost it's top 2 backs against City last season and lost a close game. This one seems like it is starting to become a rivalry

KJ is the real deal even at his age.  The future is bright for him.

City ruined most of their drives with multiple penalties in the first game.  That game had the most flags I have ever seen.  No joke.

It should be noted that most teams had less time/reps to get ready over the summer due to COVID.  The games at the end of the season seem to be cleaner.

  8. I have no idea which team is faster.  Both teams are great and well coached.  Both teams are at risk of giving up a bunch of points Friday night and getting beat.  My guess is the team with the most mental toughness will win.  First team to flinch or blink may be down by 21 before they can get back on track.

I hope they leave it all on the field so the winner will be sore tired next week.

  9. I think Fayetteville has an easier time with Huntland this time around.  It's unlikely that City will get dinged for almost 200 yards of penalties again.  That equals quite a few points.  I just hope City players realize that other teams may try to goad them into trouble if they think it will give them an advantage .  After the ejections at the end of the Cornersville game, I believe many opposing coaches will try to "get in their head."  I bet the Tiger coaches are sending this message and the players will play a clean game.  My opinion is that Fayetteville is the better team.  We will know after Friday night.  Best wishes to all involved.

    Go Tigers!!!

  10. Fayetteville has a strong defense.  The focus of a few posters seems to be on the opposite match up.  You can't neglect the fact that a tough defense for the home team will be matched against a weak offense for the visitors for half the game.  This advantage is evident.

We can't dismiss the possibility that on any given Friday night a tough team like HR-B can play an inspired game and convert a few fourth downs to come out with a close win.  It would be unlikely, in my opinion.  We also can't dismiss the possibility that one of the two regions could be exposed as "inferior" after the results of multiple games this evening.  I don't claim to know which region is better right now but I bet I'll know in the morning.  Thoughts on this possibility?

Best wishes to all involved in the games tonight.

    GO CITY!!!

  11. I just hope everyone picks against City like every other game this year.  That usually works out well for Fayetteville.  They may be short a Tiger or five but the other 35ish will play hard and have a fair shot at winning the game.  City will still have at least one  threat who can score on any play.  The lines are intact.

    It should be close!

I expect a great night with good competition.  I also don't expect any "chippy" play from either team based on last year's contest.  The teams seemed to respect and appreciate each other.  Let's each do our part to ensure that spirit of good sportsmanship and community between these teams continues on Tiger Hill as we host Gordonsville for the first time.
