Yeah my old high school has been battling Robbinsville in wrestling these past few years but getting the best of them. Robbinsville might be the team to beat in the conference. Swain is looking good so far this year and Andrews has a really good team this year.
I think Andrews may win the SMC this year. That Amos kid is legit. The SMC is as tough as it gets from little league all the way to high school.

He bought a ticket like the rest of us. It was a fund raiser and public drawing where everyone could see. There was no conflict of interest and there was no shady business to it.
Oh ok. I really didn't know how that kinda stuff worked. I thought coaches were only allowed to make so much and no extra money was allowed to be given to them. That may just be a school or county policy that i'm thinking of here.

Something that had me curious from this past fall was the SP assistant coach winning a large sum of money from the booster club or QB club. Is that legal or illegal? It just seems like a conflict of interest to me and doesn't look good.

Why not have a east/west bracket that looks similar to this? Top two teams from each region into a Sweet 16 Tournament.
Region 1 (1) Region 5 (1)
Region 2 (2) Region 6 (2)
Region 2 (1) Region 6 (1)
Region 1 (2) Region 5 (2)
Region 3 (1) Region 7 (1)
Region 4 (2) Region 8 (2)
Region 4 (1) Region 8 (1)
Region 3 (2) Region 7 (2)

Rusty Boggs from Copper Basin

Just curious on your thoughts. He has a different style of offense than what Tennessee has ever had. Do you think that will give some of the smaller schools a chance to get players recruited? I've seen a lot of fast skilled offensive players in 1-A and 2-A that just don't get the stars because they are a small school.

I think this game will stay close the entire game and will be decided by the winner scoring in the last 1-2 minutes left in the game.

Retiring from Pitt moving on to Coach in Ga.Alot more info on WHY he is leaving the town SP but we will leave that out of it.LOL.
Do you know what school in Georgia? I know Georgia pays a lot better.

Vic has been a great coach for SP and has it set up for several more years of success. I don't understand why he is leaving a program he has built for many years. Can someone help me understand this??? Is he leaving for a another school or retiring?

Better check and see if he’s age eligible before putting him on the field. I hear he’s gotten interested in sports betting, another thing to check.
Under case law Billy Madison v/s State, he is eligible to play.

We just had a guy move here from Louisiana. Robert Boucher, Jr. If you don’t know him, then google him and it will have you worried. I’m sorry but I doubt SP could get more than 20 yards rushing against him. Never seen a guy play like this one. He is a defensive stud and can play a little offense too.

Luckily the boy we have playing qb has some experience playing qb back when he was in middle school, if he can get in a groove he will be able to make some plays in the passing game for us. He was one of our top receivers so he has some wheels when in open space.
I think Basin will have it together for the Clay County game, as long as we don't lose anymore to contact tracing. I think the new Qb will blow up some teams with his passing game in the playoffs. Kid has a cannon and will be getting back in the groove of things next week. I've been hearing some exciting news that's gonna shock a lot of folks come playoff time. Really looking forward to the playoffs now.

Yall get to host.
And yall are our only hope to win the bottom bracket to allow us homefield for the quarterfinals.
Help us Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope.
Awww... y'all do care about us. hahahahahaha

Well congrats on the region title SP. Hope you guys stay healthy and Covid free through the playoffs. bring that championship back to the east. Maybe if the stars align we can play y'all in SP during the playoffs.

Actually its Knox Catholic needing a game to replace the Father Ryan game this Friday.
KC could go to Rhea Co which would give RC a home game instead of traveling to Jasper.
Then Jasper could escape the Rhea County game which most of them say they shouldn't be playing schools that large anyway.
Which opens up Jasper's committment to playing the Pirates. Which should always be played come hail or high water.
I've just got a feeling that Copper Basin is gonna cancel leaving us with no game Friday and its Senior night.
Jasper could even recognize their Seniors as well.
Heck, we could play the 1st half in South Pittsburg then load up the buses and play the 2nd half in Jasper.
I'll even go as far as calling Jasper 'Marion' the rest of the week.
This just got serious lol

Crazy things can happen in the playoffs. Didn't Whitwell go in as a 4 seed and knock off a number one last year? I think Gordonsville was number 3 and beat Basin too.
I think the Basin and Clay game will be a good one.

It’s time to get it figured out. This is week 10. The playoffs start next week.
I agree, but all of our problems just happened one after the other. Its all part of the game though, just got to adapt and overcome. "gotta keep on, keepin on".
-
Our backup QB is also out as QB but might still be able to play in other areas. We've had some other starters out but hope we will get them back before the year is over. Haven't got to talk to anyone the past week due to all this Covid crap. I had hopes of a great region championship game with y'all at the end of the season and we may still get to.

What is everyone thinking will happen from start to finish in this playoff bracket?

From looking at preseason stuff I figured you would be much improved this year. I saw some highlights. You have some nice looking athletes.
We do have a good group of athletes. I think they will be fine and get it figured out. Due to the injuries and having to move players around everywhere, I think they just need some time to settle into those positions and the confidence that comes with time and a win.
-
I think we all know who the winner will probably be in this game. Even if the game isn't played, it will still be the same outcome. There is nothing I would rather see than CB win this game but I just don't see that happening right now. I have been wrong before though.

No dog in this, but I would remind everybody that all Tennessee coaches not named John Reid have failed miserably when they came to Georgia. It’s a different world.
Corky Kell coached at Basin in the late 50s and ended up having some success in Georgia.
South Pittsburg vs Murphy (stone man against this Watson man)
in Class 1A & Class 2A

I haven’t been on here in a long time but figured I would comment on this game. Murphy and SP is a game that I’ve wanted to happen for a long time. Both teams are very comparable in their tradition and love of football. I hope this is a every year game from now on. I also think that if this game had been being played for the last 20 years, the w/l ratio would be close. Both have really good teams this year even though they are both down. I actually picked SP in this one only because I didn’t know what Murphy truly had this year but I figured it would be a close one. I have a lot of respect for both programs and always will. I’m a Basin boy and always will be. A few years ago this young group of kids from Basin, Murphy, South Pitt and Bradley all played against each other at Basin and I coached the Basin team. Looks like SP and Murphy still have most of their players from then. Sadly, Basin only has 3 players left from that team still playing. Good luck to all and I hope to see this Murphy / SP game for years to come.
