Do a search.  There are many people that will take the job.  The last coach was the real deal.  We have to not look for alumni to take over and find the best man for the job.

As good as the last coach was he finished only 1 game over .500 and never won a playoff game. He saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship. Howard will be in 6A in the upcoming years. Who's signing up for that?

Let's be honest, that school isn't a good destination for anyone serious about a lot of things let alone athletics.

The school still graduates a lot of good kids. Plus, they have construction and welding classes that put a lot of guys on their feet once they graduate. I personally know 3 young men currently in lineman school that recently graduated from Howard. Those stories are never talked about, only the negative stuff.

After a loss to struggling single A team it is time for Howard to find a new coach.  With only close to 30 players in the program football Howard needs a relatable coach that the players will play for.  There's too many athletes in Chattanooga but nobody wants to play for this guy.

You may get your wish by the end of the season. Considering the fact that Howard isn't a destination school for anyone that's serious about football or sports in general, who would be a good candidate for the job?

    Any reason why?

HCDE requires Brainerd and Howard to have a ton of security when they play due to the large amount of unsupervised kids that attend the game. It's really hard to hire 10-15 cops for a game on a Saturday night when they know it will be real work and not a cushy extra job.

On top of that, rumor is the county DA is going to release the video of an officer involved shooting the same evening and any potential protest could strain CPD manpower.

Feel like when Austin east don't play brainerd they ought to pick up a game with howard,Tyner or east ridge I think they'd win 2/3 of those and if Austin east comes back to the teams of the  past they could beat Tyner too

I saw Howard and AE scrimmage yesterday at McMinn Central and I honestly feel like that game would be a toss up. Probably whoever was the host would win.

Please STOP IT!!!! It is coaching!!! Nobody else numbers are hurting.  Boys soccer has the numbers, Baseball has the numbers, girls basketball has the numbers, boys basketball has 3 teams, he is the only one with a lack of participation.  Like the other post above says other schools are getting beat and not complaining only this guy

Coach Starr is that you? Lol! It's well documented that Howard is 180% over capacity. I don't care about what other schools are doing, I'm speaking on Howard. It doesn't matter whose coaching football, the school's facing the same problem regardless. If you really knew what was going on at Howard you would know that the data presented to TSSAA was compiled by one of Howard's former assistant basketball coaches and the baseball coach.

  8. Howard is overcrowded with "newcomer" Hispanic students that don't participate in anything because most haven't been in school since elementary.  It has forced them up in classification and has made maintaining athletics extremely hard. Even Howard's girls soccer team struggles. People exaggerate how good the boys soccer program really is at this point. It's an HCDE problem not a coaching problem.

any thoughts on the upcoming matchups?

CPA @ lausanne - dont know much about lausanne but that QB sounds like the real deal.

FRA @ chatt christian - boo carter vs ty clark???

davidson acad @ knox webb - knox webb's wins over chatt christian and silverdale weren't very convincing.  they as good as their record?

silverdale @ LA - more of a game than last year?

The rumor mill says Boo Carters days at CCS may be over. I hope that's not the case but we shall see.

Even though Mcminn played a sloppy game against Bradley Central. I think the boys in black rebound this week with a solid victory. However I think there is a possibility of Howard nabbing the 4th seed this year over the Ooletwah owls. What are yalls thoughts about the game

I think final score  will be something like

    Mcminn County 28

    Howard 6

    McMinn County wins easily...

Where did you get this information from?  They were young 2 years ago when they qualified for the state playoffs.  They are not a young inexperienced team.  Last year all of the seniors quit on the coach and this year if you watched the brainerd game you can tell the coach has a problem #9....This all falls on coaching...Yes they are in a tuff classification but to have only 30 players and you have the most African American kids in the county in your building says this staff just cant get kids interested in playing

Chattanoogan.com ran an article a couple weeks back with the enrollment numbers. I have some insight into this team and I can tell you the seniors that quit last year were addition by subtraction. Howard's playing a lot of underclassmen with little to no experience. Their D Line and Middle Linebacker are the only players with experience.

As far as low player turn out there's a number of factors. One being a ton of potential Howard kids go to other schools in Hamilton County. Howard really has never been a football powerhouse to begin with either. Their last coaches claim to fame was that he fed his players every morning, we're not talking Nick Saban here.

    Probably 6A soon.

They're definitely going to 6A if HCDE doesn't step in. Howard is approaching 1600 students. As far as football goes they're playing a lot of young and/or inexperienced kids. Their defense is stout but can only keep them in games for so long.

I'm not saying nothing bad has ever happened at those schools was referring to the gang violence and shootings wouldn't expect an outsider to know anything about it though.  Are you even friends with people that went to anyone of the Schools I listed? Bc on Facebook I constantly see posts touting about what the "toughest" school in Hamilton County is and brag about some of the nasty things that happened. People were absolutely disgusted with what happened at Ooltewah, and the east Hamilton thing hasn't been a recurring issue for since the concept of the school. Had a friend  go to Howard in mid 00s and he said trying to learn there was almost impossible.

Trust me, im more of an insider than you could possibly imagine. I was at Finley Saturday night. By the time the fight broke out Tyner was gone and Howard was sitting in the bleachers on the other side of the stadium. There's zero reason to blame them for some idiots fighting and a scared deputy causing a disturbance.
