I bought into the Central hype after the first five games but now I see that it was all hype. Some people still have the blue blinders on thinking because we finally gave effort in Sweetwater game that we are world beaters now. They even want to go back and revise history saying we'd beat everbody on the schedule if we gave effort. It's the same old Central crowd with excuses all over again, year after year. Funny.

This one will be the last one. This team just is not physical on the edge. Look for Skyles and Moffit to have a HUGE night in the valley.

I was wrong but close. Offense got rolling to the tune of 17 points! High powered!!!! Kingston looked terrible with the exception of one drive. Defense continues to impress. Rechtorovic has been a blessing. Saving our tail week in and week out along with that kicker. Lucky to escape tonight.
On to the district title game they go!

Kingston wins again. Close game. Kingston tough at home. Central Offense gets going this week and scores TWO touchdowns tonight. The refs made correct calls against Central. Linemen were downfield. They did miss on the catches though. Meig's kid bobbled the ball on Meig's sideline. Central kid caught the ball on that late incomplete pass. But, still should have won that game. Scheme cost that one.

Central will be 5-5 unless Rockwood gets all these players back and if they do they will be 4-6.
I have to agree there

I just don't understand it. Couldn't get out of their own way tonight. Central was victim to TERRIBLE officiating. Shame cause there are good dudes on that crew but the new guys are knuckleheads. Completed pass called incomplete. Touchdown called back on an RPO play. Calling one sided personal fouls. None on Meigs after the whistle BS. I had a feeling Fitzgerald would win this though. He is a great coach.
Momentum is gone now. Hope they get the boys focused back on the region. Doesn't get easier.

Coacht all over that. Good job

This isn't Tellico JV this week! This is Varsity Football! You better bring Sasquatch size tissue paper for those Tiger Yeti tears. lol
That Tellico team competed with Central for most of the game. Turnovers made a difference. I've been confident all year and know better than to get too ahead of myself. This is no McMinn team but they're better than the TKA and Bledsoe showing. Ce tral is better than that Signal shoeing and would shutout Tellico today. Tigers look really small but they play hard and are athletic. This will be a test.
I've got to give edge to the boys but it could swing either way. If they pull this off they'll win the rest. 9-1 Region Champs!

Easy there GECKO....one game at a time...please
Easy there CMS! You know football. This Central team is rolling. Nobody but Sweetwater and Loudon have a chance. 9-1 and they'll finish 10-2 or 11-2 depending on who they meet in playoff format. If they meet Tyner or Alcoa round 2 then that'll spell trouble.

Central 41
Brainerd 18
Still on pace for a region championship! After a rough game 1 against what turned out to be a really good McMinn team, the staff and kids have turned it around! As I said before, this team will win 8 games and bring home a REGION CHAMPIONSHIP
-
Coach Rech has turned it on since week 1. Team has made a turn and getting back to that physicality we watched in camp. Offense puttered last game but could blame the rain for that. Signal is a young team and they'll be solid next two years. Polk is also young but they're playing tough, physical football. Polk runs a cover 3 though, so Moody's passing attack will give them fits. If Polk falls behind early then it'll be tough to come back.
Should be another W for the Chargers and then it's back to focusing on winning this region championship. Will come down to Cebtral and Sweetwater or Loudon. 9-1 is still a possibility! Go get it!

He's probably referring to the incident where a kid was yelling at Central coaching staff. I couldn't tell but there may have been some back n forth there.

Hats off to the Bears for staying in the game. Game was hard fought but cleanly played for the most part. Football is an emotional game even for coaches but professionals will get over being butt hurt and move on.
Side note.....officiating was pretty inconsistent and that might be the case all year.
Why was Tellico upset? I thought we played clean and I didn't see alot of chirping going on. A Central coach had to be held back? Oh but that's just emotions.... right? Come on man. Tellico has always been Classless when they lose. Can't react to the BS. Bobby White I thought would clean that up. He coached my brother at Sequoyah. I doubt it was just him.
Anyway, Central needs to build on this and learn how to put a game away. Take out a fumble TD and the mistake by Tellico of not running clock out before half along with the blocked punt as a result it would have been 14 to 14 going into 4th quarter.

I think a lot of Central's issues are a lot of their fans, which affects community support. The expectations are high for this team, but those expectations needed to be tempered to something reasonable. Some of the Central fans who post here on CoachT here predicted the Chargers would beat McMinn, yet when Central lost they were the first ones on here criticizing the coaches and the team. Eating crow isn't enjoyable, but some people helped prepare their own plate of it.
As someone who's coached before I can assure you that sometimes everything falls apart on your team. Whether it be the plays you called or the schemes you put on the field, there are times they just don't work and it's hard to find an answer during the game. Central's coaches didn't just fall of the watermelon truck - they know their stuff and I guarantee you they were more confused and frustrated Friday night than the fans were. And yes, some of the blame falls squarely on the players on the field. There's no need attacking the players or coaches though, just because your pride was hurt. You should expect better than what you saw from them against McMinn, and I'm sure every Central coach and player would agree with that statement. But let them do the self-reflection and examination as a team if you desire to see improvement.Constructive criticism. I guarantee you they worked on everything I mentioned. It was an observation and rooted in truth. They're big boys and can handle it. No coach or player was "attacked." It's called "accountability." They have the tools and they'll fix it. My crow tasted amazing BTW. I'll eat crow game 1, just to see the team learn from it and win a district title this season. It can CERTAINLY be done!

Were you at the game? Asking for a friend.
Yes sir. Left after the 1st quarter. Not a very good McMinn team and one of our more talented Central teams. This wasn't the team I saw during the pre season. Maybe the teams we beat were just bad or the boys didn't show up. It definitely wasn't coaching though. The boys were unprepared and that's on them.

If central wants more than 2 wins this year this game is a must. I was rooting for central but realistically nobody outside of etowah thought central was gonna have the season some of these posters thought. They was not prepared for that game friday
These posters knew the talent on this team and Senior leadership rivaled the 14 season. They SHOULD have competed Friday night and they SHOULD have won 5-7 games. However, Friday night was an embarrassing showing from a coaching standpoint. Talent combined with this "all star" staff should render some results. Well..... they have and it wasn't good. This Friday will be another circus unless they can teach fundamentals of blocking, tackling, special teams play (which was atrocious), time management (2 delay of game penalties after tod on HC), game management, play calling (atrocious for the hype about this guy), defensive scheme (3-4 and stand up ends against a physical team? No edge set?), and competitive toughness (bc the team gave up down 14 pts) all in 3 days. Tall task but it can be done. If they can stop the Omar Miller show and contain Shafer then Central SHOULD win. Lose this one and you lose the team and community. Love all the fundraising and off the field community involvement but this is as good as the talent gets at central. Need to see results. I can handle losing 50-0 but not the way Central did it Friday. No fight, no pride, no effort. Young, inexperienced McMinn team. Imagine if this had been one of the better County teams? In 2020, it was 7-0 with 6 minutes left in the game. And that was a bad Central team.
Rant over. Get it turned around with an easier test this week. Get us back on the rails and this season isn't lost. The district is down this year. So go get it!

Central should be embarrassed. After it was 14 to 0 they absolutely quit.
Disorganized, out of shape and unprepared. Better get that fixed or next Friday will be another long night.

Central wins this one. McMinn and Bo Cagle are concerned about this game. I don't believe they have been this worried about Central since 2014 and 2015. Central has the momentum and confidence heading into Friday. If Central contains the edge, they'll win it in the trenches.

Sequatchie played to Central's strength by passing constantly. Was not expectin that. Dumb playcalling cost them. Central got lucky. This week you will not get lucky.
