Half a million??? Long distance charges must be bad in Memphis, because the investigation was on the telephone with SCBOE.

Why was the principal a joke to you... he lost more than anyone else involved, and stood to gain NOTHING either way. I evidently care more for those students than you do... you are defending the people who chose to lie about their academic achievements rather than ensure that they actually got a proper education. Dexter Manley was a millionaire who attended Yates High School and Oklahoma State University... also who couldn't read signs on the freeway because of the same type situations that you defend. I saw him crying on national television saying that he'd give back the money and fame for an education.

Its funny you should bring up Dexter Manley and education.  The young men that went to college/universities not only did they graduated college but did it Cum Laude style. With degrees in Accounting, Nursing (currently working towards on his nurse practitioner license in 4 years) another one will graduate with physical therapy degree) another one with a masters in health admin. These are the young men that the principal stated they were nothing.....sir do please have a great day

You're right, he did have every reason to lie... he could have lied and kept his job, he could have lied and been Principal of a school that won state, and he could have lied and saved face with the public. He instead chose to tell the truth, and it cost him his job to do so. List your reasoning of what the man had to gain by trashing his own school. Teli pretty much ran the school because football has more meaning to the public in Memphis than character and academics, and he was placed upon a pedestal because he had assembled a great team. Damning evidence in the form of the players transcripts was found on Teli's own computer. I have much respect for the Principal and the lady secretary who lost their jobs for outing the situation... I wonder how many would have the fortitude to do the right thing if they stood to lose as much.

He did not run the school. Im guessing when they spend a half a million to investigated to turn up a bunch of nothing. Again a lie can not live forever. the principal was a joke he cared for those students just as much as you do sitting behind a screen typing your opinion.  Nevertheless you have a great day....

You can post all the articles you want just like the rest of the Memphis coach to people do but principal had no reason to lie.  Corruption is rampant in Memphis. They just shut down a school few months ago for giving false grades

He had every reason to lie and thats just what he done sir.... A lie can not live forever.....you have a great day sir....

I knew when my bud at TCA told me that they made the Goldsmith kid look like a HS player to a college kid, then I knew they had some illegal stuff going on at Trezevant.

Sir Goldsmith was hurt when TCA played Trezevant...So what's illegal about that?

He got fired so did a lot of other faculty members. The principal come out and said the coaches recruited players. They reported enrollment lower than what it was so they could play in 2a and they changed grades.

SMH, no other faculty just two people.... Do facts sir...oh yeah principals do not always tell the truth either....

TSSAA executive director Bernard Childress said the state's prep sports governing body is looking into the allegations, but he added that Mackin's charge of falsifying enrollment figures is not true.

"We don't take enrollments from the schools. That would be the dumbest thing in our history," Childress said. "For obvious reasons we would never take the word of a principal or coach as to what their enrollment is. We get our information from the state Department of Education and use their figures to determine classification for our schools.

"If Trezevant had turned in an enrollment of 250 fewer students than what they actually have, we would have discovered it when we cross-referenced it by the Department of Education's figures. The only way to fix enrollments is if Shelby County board of education and the state Department of Education had lied to us."

They never investigated. They called the ones who were cheating. And they said all good here nothing to see. Sad is really what it is. And where is Teli now????

They did too investigated...Nobody understood that they wasted alot of people time and taxpayers money. As for Teli good question, I heard he is working on a "Tell All Book". He went to 4 state championships appearances...I wanna read what he has to say.

Just like Trezvant did. Playing the victim that is.

Sir its Trezevant and last i check they went on to win the gold that year correct? Futhermore if Trezevant  had a or some ineligible players why were the there games not taken from them....Trezevant was 3-1 at the time of this report, if there games had been taken away they would have never made the playoffs....No victim played here sir

     https://wreg.com/2016/09/29/trezevant-high-forfeits-football-season-after-grade-discrepancies-discovered/

That one game that was taken from the kids that week was still wrong after the district had NO finding to support what was being reported....

The TSSAA, however, has reported that no violations have been found involving the Trezevant football team, so practices have resumed and the team will play out the remainder of the 2016 football schedule.  The only game this season the team will have to forfeit is the September 29th game against Memphis Academy of Health Sciences.”
