  1. Hard to blame anyone looking to leave OR. From what I've heard from my perch at West High, the former Powell coach got treated like a sacrificial lamb midseason and what do they have to show for it? OR is still bad and will they be better next year? What has to change? I've seen comments about the strength and conditioning program but does that explain the lopsided win/loss record. They have a ton of athletes.

Remember on the Patty Duke Show where she played the part of her identical cousin or Samantha played her look alike cousin on Bewitched, well I believe we have somebody playing three people on here going to town talking to themselves.

Is this supposed to be directed at me? Am I to believe that Heritage is a sleeping giant being held back by coaches?

Heritages wrestling facility was paid for by donors of the program with the exception of $3000 if I remember correctly which was given to them by the school board. Unfortunately the way it works in the county is if you want something for the kids you have to go get it yourself. Heritage middle school had a talented football program this year that won quite a few games, but when you talk to those kids parents a lot of them will tell you their kid will not be playing in high school and focusing on other sports because they do not want to play for Hammontree.

Who could do better? We have to get out of this Tennessee fanbase mindset where a coaching change is a cure all. Heritage and you could throw William Blount in too, both have major issues outside of who is wearing a headset. I'd like to see some of those parents do better. Hammontree has won a state championship. His brain just didn't fall out when he put on red and powder blue. Maybe some of the parents should coach the team that way they could come face to face with their own genetics being athletic deficient.

I'm very surprised Tim Hamontree has hung around long as he has at Heritage this being his tenth season with a 17-82 record with three more games left in this season which includes Lenior City in the Rotten Bowl game on the 22nd. If they lose out it will be their 4th season losing every game under his leadership. I realize you can't be let go for a losing record at Blount County but this is the most horrible train wreck I've ever seen. I know he'll be 65 next season, is there an age limit most schools will let you coach?

I think they are lucky to have him. It's not like he forgot how to coach. A few years back I was at the Shell on Lamar Alexander parkway and picked up an issue of the Daily Times talking about how they were building a new wrestling facility at Heritage. I don't think they make football a priority at a district level down to school level. Being in the Maryville/Alcoa gravitational pull is tough.

Orrrrrrrr Kevin may be attempting to stage a coup d'etat for like the 3rd or 4th time

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets to hear these conspiracy theories anymore. Czar, elaborate further so you don't sound like a crackpot.

I don't get it.  You're singing Cumming's praises, took him 8 seasons.  New coach has 3 or 4 seasons and you're bad mouthing him.

I'm a huge Lamar Brown fan and I think he and his staff do a great job. The Alcoa game regardless of the officiating was proof of that, they came out and hit them in the mouth. I think the Czar and a few others here are strictly in the Cummings camp.

    Right.

I totally control how Unapproved Website and 247 rank players in Tennessee.

So you dog me up on side and down the other, and then suddenly you want a "truce".  Bubba, I was born at night, but it wasn't last night.  That ain't happening, and the quoted post is a perfect example of why it's not.

Welcome to my ignore list.  You and the others on it will have a swell time.

I know it's hard but try not to take it personal, I have the (sometimes) unfortunate pleasure of knowing the Czar. His wife makes a killer Blueberry Cobbler and she's equally as sweet. We go to at least one Farragut game a year and eat at Sam & Andy's beforehand. He means well but he gets carried away. I'm a diehard West fan and he gives me down the road about it but he will usually pick up the bill for my Bacon Vol burger so I let it slide.

    Here we go again.

Everybody in Knox County plays in those margins.  Period.  If you believe otherwise you are delusional.

And I have asked a dozen times what Powell is allegedly doing to get kids there that nobody else is.

Specifics, please.  Otherwise you are just like everybody else throwing out allegations without anything substantial to back them.

And I repeat that I haven't talked to anybody connected to the Powell program in months, back to the early spring, so I am not in the mindset to "defend" anybody.

H, don't get out of shape. The Czar is the kind of person who yells fire in a crowded theater.

heck, I just looked.  Lamar Brown's record at Morristown-west was  71-34 (67% wining percentage).  Scott Cummings' record at West was 101-58 (63.5%).  Lamar Brown's record at West is 39-17 (69.6%) and it looks like the includes a 4-7 season.

I also noticed, I hadn't realized until now, that Scott Cummings was a West Alumni.  Based on the articles I'm reading it looks like he won state at West in December, and took a job at Cleveland in January.  Is that correct?

To my knowledge that is correct. I'm friends with Lamar and I always do my best to stay unbiased because I pull for him and West so much. But it's undeniable Scott put West on the map. It took him a few years for sure but he changed that program. Coach Brown has done a great deal to sustain success since he's been there. Also for what it's worth I think a man's sum total is a lot more than one coaching stop that may not have gone spectacular.

so, you think West is the number one team in 5A?

Yes, I don't think Alcoa can be treated like a typical 3A team. West is a solid team with a stout defense as you saw last night. There is no doubt that there were quite a few penalties last night that's why I've been hesitating to comment on the game but that aside I think either West or Powell is the best team in 5A only time will tell.

Tell that to the Alcoa fan base that was at the game!

Again, West has to travel to Alcoa next season. The rebs will not be cheated like Alcoa was at West.

But, without all the flag West gets beat by at least 3 Touchdowns!

Couldn't agree less. Coach Brown and his staff did a phenomenal job and Alcoa fought hard as well.

  12. There is no doubt that Alcoa will be a tall order but I have faith that Coach Brown and his staff will make this a competitive game. The injury bug has gotten us and we're adjusting to getting youngsters ready to go faster than we thought. I think this will be a two score game by the time the final horn blows.
